Beautiful hotel with character in a seafront location.

Review by MEV446 Bedford, United Kingdom

The hotel and its outside spaces are spacious, well maintained and beautiful. It is not one of these large square boxes but in an attractive Moorish style. Our room with view of the sea, pools and gardens had a balcony with table and 2 chairs, which was lovely...

The amenities were very good : 4 main restaurants, a bistro, a cafe, and a number of bars - we loved the ‘Sunset bar’ from where we could watch the fantastic sunsets, cocktail in hand! We ate in the ‘ World Food restaurant’ most of the time as it is a walk in one, with a fantastic and varied choice every day. Of the 3 bookable ones, the Las Roccas restaurant in particular is in a fabulous location ( yes on top of the rocks with the sea crashing on them) and has very good sea food. There is also a fully equipped gym, and a daily entertainment program, including keep fit sessions, Spanish lessons, and evening live music. The latter ended at 10:30 pm, which was perfect. There are 2 pool areas, one heated and with fresh water, the other one unheated with sea water. There are 2 excursion company agents based inside the hotel too, making bookings very handy ( there are many stalls selling trips outside the hotel too). The staff were very friendly and efficient. The waiters were very observant and always at our table within seconds it seemed, to take our orders. We were always greeted by all staff with a cheery ‘ Ola’ or ‘ Buonos dias’. The receptionist ladies were very helpful too, eg they printed out our Covid test results for us, arranged for an immediate laundry pick up when asked. The room itself was very clean and spacious and perfectly serviced every day. The lighting could be improved, in particular the reading lights next to the beds were a bit awkward to use, and some good light around mirrors would have helped when putting on makeup. I went on the balcony with my own mirror to apply my make up and catch some good light. The bathroom was a very good size, with a walk in shower, all kept very clean, but looking a little bit tired and probably ready for a bit of rejuvenation. And lastly - Covid precautions : very good ( as in all of Tenerife) : mask wearing policy inside for staff and guests and gently reminded of by staff when forgotten, sanitising gel available all over the hotel and provided in the bathroom, excellent ventilation everywhere, most eating areas are totally open to outside air anyway, social distancing very good with tables very well spaced. We felt very safe there. Overall a very good experience for us, and we would have no hesitation to book this hotel again on a future visit to Tenerife.

Not a "four star" Hotel!!

Review by Durbz911 Amstelveen, The Netherlands

We made a last minute decision to get away from grey & soggy Netherlands over Christmas and New Year for some well deserved sun and sea! Dreams Jardin appealed to us as it had received some favourable reviews and was on the ocean front. We booked the Junior suite which showed an ocean view on a B&B basis as we wanted to try different restaurants on the island.

On arrival, I could not help but notice that the name of the hotel at the entrance was flickering away giving a rather tardy first impression. At check-in we were told that we couldn't park at the hotel due to maintenance work and had to park a kilometer away in a public car park (not communicated to us at time of booking!)...

Moreover, to our dismay we were told that our Junior Suite did not have a sea view but rather it was on the side of the hotel overlooking the street and the hotel's delivery area! Considering we paid €6,900 for 11 nights it most certainly did not seem good value! The room itself was spacious but was in dire need of some maintenance as it looked "tired" e.g. bath tub was completely lose with side panel sticking out the back, a large number of the holes in the shower head was blocked, the shower door no longer sealed properly so, water gets onto the floor, door knobs were lose, mattresses were stained, bed linen of poor quality and full of small light clumps/fluffs, also, as the bed linen aren't fitted sheets they pull out from under the mattress and crumple up whilst you're turning in your sleep, the pillows are awful, etc. None of this anyone would expect from a four star hotel!

The breakfast and food at the special events were good and the swimming pools great. I particularly enjoyed the sea water pool which gets filled every day! However, the terracotta tiles around the swimming pool is not holding up and is in the process of disintegrating making it difficult to walk on with bare feet and also, getting red stones and dust onto your feet which then of course finds its way into the pool!

As we arrived late on our first day, we decided to have dinner at the hotel's Las Rocas Beach Club restaurant but found the food to be most disappointing. On one other occasion we had pizzas at the hotel's Italian restaurant and again found it to be sub-par. Same story with hamburgers we had at the swimming pool for lunch one day with the meat cold and under cooked.

Also, there are two pool tables available for guests, however, the one was out of commission for the entire time we were there.

In general, there seems to be a general lack of attention to detail as well as oversight to ensure the Dreams Jardin is properly maintained at a four star level. Paying four star hotel rates for what is essentially, a three star is just not fair play in my view!

Next time I shall be considering "Hotel Vincci Selección La Plantación del Sur" as this was our other choice!

A fabulous resort that has it all.

Very spacious and well equipped room. Bathroom very well equipped. Very large terrace with only disadvantage that it had no view as a wall was blocking the view to the sea. Location of the property was very good...

The property itself had various good restaurants with different menus to choose from. The breakfast was absolutely the best I ever experienced in many travels. All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The nightly entertainment was not always of good quality.

Stunning

Review by Jaxamillion Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Well what can I say apart from wow. I’ve been coming to Tenerife for over 20 years and walked past this hotel so many times but had no idea how stunning it is inside. Super modern and chic with glimpses of big Mexican hotels I’ve stayed in...

We arrived after a long flight to a glad of cava and a cold towel which was a brilliant touch. The reception staff are so helpful but we felt our check in process could have been a bit quicker. We were shown to our rooms (557 and 559) and were delighted. We asked for a pool view and had the added bonus of a slight sea view. My room was west facing so had a lovely sunset view. The room was super clean, big and modern. Lovely balcony, free wifi, stocked mini bar, hand held steamer which I loved and a safe. The aircon could have been better but perhaps it’s not as strong in the winter. All the public areas are so clean and every member if staff was so friendly. We are at the barefoot bistro a couple of times and Gad cocktails in all the bars. The staff at the lava bar were fab and even ordered us a bottle of our favourite Sherry which was above and beyond. We were bed and breakfast and we were spoilt for choice at breakfast. Fruit, freshly made omelettes, hot food, pancakes, cava, bloody Mary’s….they’ve thought of it all. The pool area is nice and clean but as sun worshippers we found a lot of the sunbeds were in the shade, think it’s because there are lots of Palms and trees or perhaps it was because we visited in the winter and the sun is lower. Regardless the pool is fab and we enjoyed the daily aqua aerobics, especially the spin class under water!!! The fruit kebabs served by the pool each day and the magician were also a lovely touch. My only slight gripe was the cost of a small bottle of water at the bar was €3.50!!! And the music round the pool was really repetitive but both very small gripes. Can’t wait to return and visit this stunning oasis again.
