Excellent staff, awful food.

Review by Longdistancecyclist Derby, United Kingdom

The hotel is small and our suite was lovely. The sunbathing area is small and the sun disappears for all of them mid- afternoon. Personally I would have designed the suite 10% smaller and the patio area bigger...

The pool is adequate in size for a hot sunny day but could be a touch warmer in cold weeks like we had. If you are going to offer cava on arrival, make sure it is cold not tepid! The main pool is small with a lovely infinity view but the pool bar is not staffed. Unfortunately a staff member went off sick so the pool bar was closed. Eventually we were told we could order drinks at reception but waited 30 minutes for them to arrive. They advertise their menu and food. Well, it is like Fawlty towers. The waiters are lovely and really helpful but the food is dire. Why would you serve cauliflower in Tenerife? Or a set onion mousse? My black pork with onion was enough to make someone a vegetarian! Fatty cold pork with a tasteless gloop. For some reason the room service menu has the only steak and salad option but there is nothing on the app to suggest ordering from that menu in the dining room! Do not pay for the barbecue night! It is a total rip off. We had to eat in the dining room due to rain. The tomato soup could have been Heinz, the meat was all cooked in the oven and never saw a barbecue and the dessert was tinned cream on top of angel delight. Would I come again? This is possibly a 4 star suite hotel with a 2 star kitchen but never in a million years is it 5 star.

Fiona is possibly the best hotel manager I have ever come across, she is friendly, professional and extremely helpful.

Royal Garden Villas are managed extremely well and I have absolutely nothing bad to say.

Oasis of Luxury

Review by davidA7531 Manchester, United Kingdom

As this was our first time to Tenerife, we were a little apprehensive about what to expect. From the minute we arrived, the luxury, spotless cleanliness and excellent service surpassed all our expectations. All the staff were well trained, professional and above all, very discreet...

Oscar, Richard and Jennifer in the restaurant make a great team....they made us feel truly spoilt. Madison at Reception took care of our every need, from planning before even leaving home, right through to our departure. The attention to detail is superb… we came back to our villa after a romantic dinner to find a bottle of Cava, rose petals and a love seat on our terrace. In addition, all of this is not the result of our good luck….the secret of RGV's success is evidently down to superb communication, overseen by Fiona, the Director General, whose management of every area of the hotel is exceptional. We will definitely be returning!

Villa

Review by Nomad20421288987 Romford, United Kingdom

Lovely staff, good food , very comfortable , location a bit remote, one thing which is a nightmare is the noise from the construction, it’s none stop drilling which doesn’t help to relax. The view of the golf course helps. They could open the bar by the pool area earlier.
