Sunwing Fanabe Beach

Second stay and just as good as our first time. Ignore the petty negatives you’re going to get people complaining over petty stuff anywhere. This hotel is a family favourites for a reason. It’s for FAMILIES! Travelled as a group of 6, 2 of them children for 7 days b&b. Check-in was smooth and the gent who checked us in was very friendly and chatty. Pool and kids club- My 4 year old absolutely loved the kids club, loved the meet and greet with lollo and Bernie around the pool and at breakfast she still talking about it now. Pool area is spot on, been coming to Tenerife for 15 years and stayed in many different hotels but this one fits us for our family. No sunbed wars no setting alarms just for a sunbed. We found from 8am onwards people start reserving we wernt bothered by this as not bothered about being pool side just close enough to kids pool, you do have to sit on your sunbed until 9:30. Water polo and aqua gym in big pool and often mini disco in the kids pool on an afternoon was great. Inflatables allowed in this hotel, they have a machine by the shop to blow up your inflatable which saves your lungs 😂 Breakfast is 7:30-10:30 and absolutely spot on, if you want your English comforts this hotel does English bacon and sausages and all the other usual breakfast stuff. Has a great gluten free corner. Can refill water bottles from the water machines in restaurant which is great. Rooms- lovely, spacious, modern rooms with a sliding partition door which is either for another bedroom or living room/kitchen area which is well equipped with everything you need. We found the beds very comfortable. Hotel overall we think is lovely, clean, reception area is spacious with friendly staff felt very welcome. We can’t wait to return next year.

The only positive was the room was nice, clean, spacious and modern but that’s about as far as it goes for us, as soon as u leave the walls of your own room it’s a disaster zone. We also enjoyed the gym.

The actual breakfast food was fine but the amount of kids running about unsupervised while ur trying to walk about with hot tea or coffee was so unsafe. It also got so so busy after 8am it was more like a zoo than a restaurant. Staff done nothing about this.

The pool area is absolutely shocking. Dirty cups everywhere and allowed to pile up and pile up all day. You are not allowed to reserve sunbeds although there are people that still do it. One day I had sat a towel out on one empty bed, used it for a while and when I left for the toilet I came back to a man sitting on it. You should be able to use the bathroom without someone lying on top of your towel. This was a pink personalised towel so he did not mistake this for his own. Another day, we sat in the outside bar area trying to relax and have a beer and a MAN launched a ball so hard it knocked over my partners beer, I’m all for fun but there is never any staff asking people to calm down and not do things like this. Why these two men thought this was acceptable I’ll never know.

On our last morning, a male staff memeber began shouting and throwing a strop, pulling towels off sunbeds, an English women then went over to shout and argue with him. So unprofessional and not what you want to see/hear when ur trying to relax and eat your breakfast on holiday 😒

On the last day my partner went o reception and paid for late checkout and despite paying until 3pm, we were told we had to be out for 2:30pm. This also hadn’t been put on the system by staff so we had to take two lifts and trek back to reception to get this fixed, without even an apology from staff, again eating into the already shortened time we’d paid full price for.

I am a teacher so I’m used to kids and I always have to holiday in the height of season for this reason. I have never stayed in adult only because we have no issues with kids being kids but the fact u can’t even swim in your hotel pool without being walloped by a child, an adult or a ball or inflatable is a joke. I have never experienced anything quite like this.

Luckily the hotel is in a central area so we could venture out and avoid the DIRE pool area. But we shouldn’t have had to do this every single day, we actually had to pay entry into other hotels to enjoy a pool a couple of times, again, we knew this hotel is child friendly but the pool area is diabolical.

The pool also doesn’t open until 9am. And from the second it opens its sheer chaos. You think they could open it from 7am to adults to actually swim in it. One day there was even kids playing ball games INSIDE the spa area reception, again, I was looking forward to using this spa but ended up paying to use the spa in another hotel.

If you don’t want to parent your own children, lie on your own sunbed and enjoying knocking drinks off of folk you’ll have wonderful time 🤦🏻‍♀️ honestly never experienced anything like this 🤣

Our second family holiday to Sunwing Fanabe and this time we went all inclusive, which was a great choice and great value. The hotel offers everything a family could want - we had a suite which was perfect for four people and kept very clean, as is the rest of the hotel. Food was always good throughout the day and plentiful, also it was nice to see much of it being cooked fresh. The entertainment is great for kids, with Lollo and Bernie making regular appearances and the team that manage this and many of the kids events and evening shows are great fun. Having the smaller pools for kids works well. Location is good for the beach and shops but we rarely left as there was so much readily available without having to go out. All staff were friendly but special mentions for Mattius on reception, Judith on housekeeping and all of the entertainment team who were lovely.
