we have just returned from Hotel Alexandre Gala hotel in Playa de Las Americas in Tenerife. Check in was prompt. Here are some pros and cons:
Pros Hotel was lovely and clean...
We had a standard room which was lovely and enough space for the two of us. Breakfast was always good with a wide selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurts cooked breakfast even porridge for us Scots!! Location was fab and the Gala was set well enough back from Veronica's so we heard no noise what so ever. Comfy beds. Juanna the chef did great omelettes at breakfast. I would come back again but only on a B&B basis.
Cons Towels although fresh daily had a funny smell to them. Didn't like how you run up a bill if you buy drinks we were half board but only ate in the restaurant at night twice on our 7 day break as the food appeared to be getting worse by the night. Black paella never seen that before. Food was bland. As I'm vegetarian I found it hard to find something to eat most nights. There is only so much salad you can eat!! Sunbeds don't get hosed down at night so be prepared for some sticky ones and crumbs on them. Can't comment on entertainment as we never stayed in to watch the entertainment.
Drilling in early hours of the morning, AC not working and accused of breaking TV that never worked and I reported to reception! Had a bad experience at this hotel firstly the AC and aircon never worked. Reported to reception they replaced TV however sound didn't work this time and AC worked for the night then stopped working again (and even when it worked it was more like a fan then an aircon) 3 days later our room keys stopped working. Went to reception to be told a manager wanted to speak to us,waited 10 minutes to be told we broke the TV in the room and wanted to charge us €230 when the TV was broke since arrival and we reported it to reception! This spoilt our holiday and we did ask to switch rooms however was told no...
There was a lack of entertainment and things to do at the hotel no pool activities etc. Only night time entertainment which wasn't the best and wasn't on for long. Didn't get much sleep either with banging and drilling from early in the morning every morning apart from on the last day. We stayed in 454. Location is good though with a short walk to Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje
Don't believe any negative reviews about this place.
It is excellent !
Some people will moan about anything for no reason !
As a family of 4 we opted for the half board option.
Breakfast was excellent, so much choice catering for any diet.
Lunch - Again excellent.
The hotel was really clean and tidy and our rooms were serviced daily.
There was always someone around cleaning something.
Pool area was great , one deeper pool that was cooler than the shallower pool which was ideal.
Pool bar was great with a lovely food menu as well.
All staff throughout the hotel were very polite and friendly, from the cleaners to the reception and bar and restaurant areas.
Honestly couldn't fault this hotel or Tenerife for a fun filled family holiday.
We are a family of 4 with 11 year old 16 year old children who thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and Tenerife in general.
If you are looking for a fuss free holiday in the sun then this is the place to go.
Siam waterpark is a must if you and your kids like the water...
Would recommend the fast pass if you can get your hands on one.
The queues for a few of the rides can be a bit long but they are worth waiting for if you don't have a pass.
We also went on catamaran trip which was excellent, 3 hours looking at dolphin and whales with a swim in a nice bay. Sandwich and drinks thrown in with the price.
Other than that the pool and surrounding area kept us amused.
Wish I was still there !
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 22 nights between February and March 2022. In general the hotel was good but the restaurant was more like a canteen and the food was not quite up to standard . The fresh fruit was mouldy etc and I think the fruit was second class...
Having said that there was always something you could eat !!! If you wanted water you had to purchase it at €2.50 a bottle which I think was a bit steep considering you could buy it outside much cheaper. I asked for tap water but my request fell on deaf ears. The pool area is lovely and the rooms are adequate. Needing a bit of upgrading in areas but the girls who clean the rooms are all lovely..Anyway, this brings me on to the day I was leaving the Hotel to head home. I was at reception and called over to the desk by a man nodding his head . I went over to check out and said 3 times quite clearly that I wanted to “check out “ ‘He just kept throwing his hands in to the air insinuating he couldn’t understand me… I walked away, told him he was rude and ignorant and waited in a line for the other man on reception to deal with me. This is after 22 nights. I have travelled all over the world and this is one of the rudest ignorant persons I have came across and he seriously has an issue . Under no circumstances should he be at the front reception desk as his attitude was disgraceful. I did write to the head if Alexandre Gala hotels but it turns out this man is the reception manager !!! This has put me off this hotel. It only takes one to spoil things and he certainly did that. For this reason I won’t be returning to this hotel as at the end of the day I felt unappreciated, whose next and there’s the door we’ve got your money. Think twice before booking .
A family group of us had three of the club Alexandre rooms which were all spacious, clean and had sea views to the side.
The food at the hotel was overall very good. There was always something for everyone! Breakfast had the usual selection of cold meats, cheeses, breads along with Spanish sausages and bacon...
There was always boiled eggs and both fried eggs and omelettes could be made to order at the cooking station. The evening selection ranged from chicken, pork, salad, live cooking station, pasta cooking station and was all of a good standard. Desserts where the normal Spanish selection with an ice cream freezer with multiple flavours, fruit, mini cakes and they always had some sort of warmed fruit in syrup which was lovely.
The hotel was spotlessly clean when we visited and numerous staff members where cleaning throughout the day. We seen the pool loungers get sanitised when anyone left too.
Any staff we encountered came across very friendly!
The pool area is great. There is a kids pool and then two bigger pools (one of which is much cooler than the other). We did have to go down around 7am or beforehand to put out towels down but being a bigger group it was probably harder to get a group of sun beds together.
In terms of the noise, in our room it wasn’t too bad. Noise does filter in from outside more so that the hotel itself. We had a room away from the open column instead the hotel the noise from the entertainment didn’t travel that bad. But my parents had a room that was in the middle section and it was much louder but nothing that disrupted our stay. We travelled with a baby and I would definitely request a quieter room like we had if going again!
I would have no problem visiting the hotel again but would probably do so during off peak times when the main strip of Playa de las Americas isn’t in full swing.
