Full of timer sharers who put towels on 20 beds & not use them

Well, if you don't have a timeshare here - don't bother going. We went the week of Christmas & New Year and honestly, I have never met a more sad bunch of British people in my life. It's so funny...

We were told that if you didn't have an apartment above floor 5 that your view was rubbish - this is so untrue, we had a floor 3 apartment and it was clean, had a great view of the pool, sunshine all day. Perfect. Honestly, the hotel is great and the staff are lovely, it's just a shame it's massively let down by their fear of the time sharers. There are clear signs that you cannot reserve beds yet at least 10 people waited from 8 am until 9 am every day when the pool opened to secure 200 beds (not even exaggerating) they left towels on all those beds and they never got used until about 1/2 pm. They have moved our towels before so they could lie on them but god forbid we moved theirs. The lifeguard was nice but he was too scared to remove all the reserved towels, so we ended up in the doorway on a sunbed in everyone's way because there was nowhere else to go. Obviously, it's the same group of people every year who stay within these weeks so if you're planning on going to Tenerife for Christmas or New Year don't stay here because you'll never get a sunbed and if you do all the time-sharers will look and talk about you all day. It is quite entertaining but also a headache if you want a relaxing holiday. We are tempted to go back next year to cause havoc and ruin their timeshare holiday as they did ours. It's just clear that they think they have priority because they have a timeshare but in reality, they're still coming to terms with the fact they got conned 30 years ago into a timeshare they can't get out of. It's sad really. But yeah, the hotel is great, the staff is great, the area is lovely, plenty to do and walk about, Papagayo is perfect for drinks and food is delicious there. Just beware of the timeshares who think they own the hotel.

A hidden December gem.

Review by fimonkey uk

Stayed with my sister on the 5th floor self catering apartment over a weekend. Better than some 4* places I've stayed. Balcony's get all day sun and overlook the pool...

Noise not an issue from nearby bars, it's just close enough to the action, but far enough away from noise. Spacious apartment, perfectly adequate for our cooking needs (we made our own breakfasts to eat on the balcony). Good shower, large clean towels, lots of sunbeds by the pool in the sun (still amusing to watch the 9am brigade queue for their favourite spots). Friendly receptionists. There were repair works happening in the corridor Monday morning as we left, this noise may be an issue for some. On a weekend there is no noise from maintenance. Pool entertainment team were amazing!! Loved the pool aerobics and sangria class. Pool is heated!!! Don't get that too often in Dec in Tenerife. Top tip. Call reception and check out by phone to save time, also call them if you need a taxi. The queue at the desk can be quite large and minimum staff on duty. Easier to call them from your room than wait in the queue.

Exceeded Expectations

Review by Denise D Leeds, United Kingdom

We flew out to Tenerife for a weekend of 3 nights and picked this hotel because it was near the beach and wasn't expensive.

We had room 517 which is a studio apartment on the 5th floor with views of the pool and the sea.

The apartment was really nicely laid out, clean and very comfortable. The receptionist did inform us that the apartment would not be cleaned during our stay as the current cleaning regime was only once every 3 days, which was fine by us.

The hotel was fairly quiet in December so there were plenty of sunbeds available...

It is situated over the top of a small shopping centre which includes a pharmacy, a couple of mini markets and a couple of souvenir shops. It's on the beach front and within close walking distance of bars, shops and restaurants whichever direction you choose to walk in. I would imagine it to be incredibly busy in August though. It is quite close to The Veronicas (2 minutes walk away) but we couldn't hear the noise in our room. There is a hotel bar and also a couple of other bars nearby where we could hear some noise but it wasn't intrusive and had stopped by around 11pm anyway.

The air conditioning in our room wasn't amazing but that wasn't a problem for us in December. The pool was heated.

So all in all, it's in a perfect position. Next to the beach and resort amenities. The majority of rooms will have a sea view and they all seem to get the sun on the balconies.

Winter sun

Review by Roznco Castlebridge, Ireland

Former time share apartment block this beach loaction hotel offers spacious rooms with well equipped kitchen and friendly efficient staff. Pool cleaning early every morning. Sat night barbecue great value and entertainment...

Hard working animation team provided daily entertainment and pool side activities. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Room cleaning was reduced due to Covid regulations but this was not a problem for us. Had a plentiful supply of clean towels and everything else we required. Double bed and double sofa bed allowed us separate comfortable sleeping areas. Not too much noise at night.
