Have been to Bitacora for 3/4 times but after the pandemic they seem to have changed their target audience . If you are over 50 you will find this hotel noisy and annoying that you can’t get a sun bed. Great for families(providing you can find a sun bed) but so noisy with loud music during the day...
You can pay the 30 euro extra a day to sit on the roof top in peace, but would rather go to a hotel where the peace is included ! Great rooms and food but not for us anymore so won’t be back
Good points-hotel is modern, food at buffet was good quality, pool slides were great, staff were friendly and helpful. Entertainment was ok-loud at pool during the day but evening entertainment was better. Rooms are clean and well appointed...
Hairdryer broke twice but was fixed quickly.
Bad points-sunbed reservation is massive issue at this hotel. Queues and then people running to get sunbeds. Would be funny if it wasn’t actually real! Last 2/3 days staff started removing towels of sunbeds where people weren’t actually there and they got so much abuse for it from other customers. As the hotel filled up towards the end of our stay, it got really busy. During the day, the pool area was so busy and noisy and got really dirty very quickly. Issue is clearly that there are more rooms than there are pool space and beds-profit over best customer experience. Hotel should think about expanding (derelict area to back of hotel would be ideal!). 2 adult pools in a hotel which is advertised as family friendly makes no sense. The adult pool was empty most of the time while the main pool was too busy. Also, no info about opening times for restaurant, useful info etc that would normally be in hotel room. Reliance on app and screens around hotel. But app didn’t work well at all and took until day 3 to actually let me login.
Location-handy for Hard Rock Cafe and Playa de las Americas. Not handy for beach when carrying beach stuff and 2 kids in tow-a good 10/15 min walk.
We’ve been to this area of Tenerife 4 times now. I’d definitely return to Tenerife as I love the island. I don’t think we’ll return to the Bitacora though. It wasn’t worth the extra I paid to stay somewhere which I thought would be better and more family friendly than the previous hotels we’ve stayed in (Gala, Troya). I go on holiday to relax and chill-the bad points about this hotel did not make for a relaxing holiday!
Hotel itself was clean and modern
Location very good close to main shopping centres and beach
But .. We chose this hotel as a family of 12 with young children and elderly grandparents. Unfortunately we never had a day around the pool as we were not prepared to queue from 8am until 9am as others did to wait for the pool gates to be opened and the run for sunbeds...
This was a shame as chose this hotel for the slides etc. So we therefore went to the beach most days and returned around 4pm when beds started to become available. As other have said just isn’t enough beds around the pool.
The outside bars are also another issue two staff and a continuous massive queue with very grumpy staff. There is an adult bar but one staff and 3.55pm it closes.
The outside snack bar food is good but again always queues to order
The evening entertainment is indoors which is a shame as always very stuffy
There is a great park and football area for children
So this hotel has good and bad points if u are prepared to spend time queuing on holiday then hotel is great
Personally though if I came with just adults I wouldn’t choose this hotel
Overall this hotel is very good; it’s clean and superbly decorated & equipped due to its recent makeover! Majority of staff are very friendly and helpful. Great location; central to all Las Americas amenities; shops, restaurants, supermarket & beach is just at end of road; 5 mins walk.
Rooms were a little disappointing...
Didn’t have the same funky; newly decorated vibe as rest of hotel and as a family of 4 with 2 young teenagers felt very small & cramped with limited storage. Would benefit from larger rooms with partition so older kids have their own space but nothing like this is available in this hotel which is a shame as this would prevent us from coming here again.
Pool areas were clean but the usual small group of U.K. tourists felt they needed to queue up an hour b4 opening to reserve beds which was both hilarious & embarrassing!! There are lots of beds in this hotel scattered around various levels around 2 pools. Life guards to be fare did remove towels and belongings of beds that were not being used to allow ‘normal & respectable’ guests to have them. Had a BIG BIG issue with the music being played around pool…it was sometimes highly inappropriate; playing rap songs with offensive language and sexual references. Myself & several guests raised this with the life guard and a member of the entertainment team who wasn’t particularly concerned and said they would just raise it with there boss! This music continued to be played all morning until it was changed to accommodate the Aqua keep fit class! Music didn’t really improve over the last few days of our holiday; very annoying rap and loud drum & bass music not in my opinion what families want to relax to whilst on their vacation!!!
Restaurant was good; clean and well equipped. Same as most buffet restaurants; it can get repetitive and we ended up eating out on a few occasions as we just couldn’t face the same food choices on offer. Drinks are very expensive! £2.50 for a small glass of coke. This is normal as most restaurants & bars charged the same and food was also quite expensive in Tenerife. Luckily there is a supermarket across rd from hotel and a fridge in the room so most people were stocking up and drinking their own. We were half board so people need to take into account the cost of drinks and food in Tenerife & decide if upgrading to AI is more beneficial to them. It wasn’t in our case as we are not big drinkers and like to explore the resort by eating and drinking out.
Overall our holiday exceeded our expectations the hotel is great for families with younger children; playpark and kids club are superb! Great location if you want to explore this part of Tenerife.
This is a lovely, modern hotel, the staff on check in were good, our room was very spacious , beds were comfy and there is a fridge although it was lacking in a mirror in the bedroom, not everyone can stand up in the bathroom doing their hair!the view from the balcony wasn’t great! We was facing the children’s play area which was ok but the derelict buildings was not a great view but not the hotels fault though (room 345) we were all inclusive and like most hotel buffets was mediocre, the drinks on all inclusive was great, any cocktails and brand spirits available. Now to the sun bed situation, we was lucky that there was only two of us and we could always get a bed,we felt so sorry for families not being able to get beds around the pool, we never witnessed the run to the beds in the morning but heard lots about it, there was a lot of unhappy people complaining around the pool and there was nowhere near enough beds around the children’s pool.On another note we cannot fault the staff, from reception to the bar staff and the cleaners they were all fab. On a negative note it would be good for information regarding the hotel to be put in the rooms and not to have to rely on an app which doesn’t always work! We had a lovely weeks stay, would we come back!! I think it is more a family hotel now so wouldn’t be for us in the future but great for families
