Puerto de Santiago

Nestled in the heart of Puerto De Santiago, this is an ideal spot from which to discover Tenerife. The hotel is 10 minutes from the impressive Los Gigantes cliffs. The hotel is ideal for families, offering marvellous views over the Atlantic Ocean and the Island of La Gomera. The excellent climate the island enjoys year-round has turned this into an extremely popular destination with holidaymakers.

Our First Family Holiday did not disappoint!

We ended up on this holiday completely by accident as we booked very last minute after our holiday to Lanzarote was cancelled. I am o glad it was because we had such a wonderful time. Our journey out was a little stresfull (over 10 hours on a plane!) but as soon as we arrived at the hotel the staff were fantastic with a very warm welcome...

Our room was spotlessly clean and was turned over every day which we were not expecting but we were very grateful for! The grounds are beautifully maintained, lots of sunbeds so you never have to worry and a choice of two main pool areas, one quiet and one where children are allowed inflatables and balls etc. Every single member of staff was very friendly and welcoming, from groundmen to bar staff, housekeeping to reception. The loaction was great - not too far from the beach, and short taxi ride to a few little towns (or a walk if you fancy it!)

The food was good- so much choice and we always found something to eat for each of the three meals. We did enjoy a few meals out just to break it up, but that was not because of the standard of food- just a change of scenery.

If you want a laid back, family friendly holiday in a lovely location, with clean rooms, and friendly staff then this is for you. We enjoyed it that much we have convinced our family to come back with us in December to celebrate my brothers 40th birthday. Hoping for another fantastic stay!

Animation for kids

Could be all great time though neither our daughter nor we understand on what basis some of the children are awarded and receive certificates after the evening minidisco. This resembles election process, though perheps in Belarus style.

Great resort with an amazing team!

Just returned from a great stay at this resort. First trip away as a family since 2019, and didn’t disappoint. Food was excellent and a varied choice every day in the buffet, including the pool side restaurant...

Rooms spacious, comfortable, with great sea view where we stayed. We have 2 young girls and they loved seeing Landi the hotel mascot every day at pool side, Kizunguzungu!

Special mention reserved for the animation team, led superbly by Monica. They were first class and helped make our daughters Mia & Sophie feel extremely welcome and entertained throughout. In the evening they run a minidisco followed by a show that is a mix of some nights external entertainers and others choreographed by the in-house team. Whilst all were great standard, we enjoyed the shows led by the animation team the most, you can see the work and effort put in to make them so entertaining. Thankyou for everything and please pass on our gratitude to Monica and all the Acttiv team, you are a credit to your employers. We hope to return soon!

Not a 4 star hotel, don’t be fooled by the 5 star reviews!!

I very rarely leave a negative review on tripadvisor but I just had to leave a review after our stay at this hotel (11 - 18th June), I did email the hotel directly with my review too and they have tried to resolve it by offering a 15% discount on our next visit (an offer they are currently already offering to everyone on their Instagram page...).

To start with, I requested a cot in my sisters room as she has 1 one year, I even emailed them a couple of days before we stayed to ask them to confirm they had my request, we were allowed to check in the room at 3pm which is perfect time for babys nap after being up since 3am travelling but once they were in the room they realised there was no cot in the room for the baby so they had to wait for reception to take one over, which isn't ideal with a crying baby who is very tired and in need of a sleep (this is the least of our concerns here).

The food was awful, truly the worst food I have ever had at an all inclusive, every day we ate chips and bread because the variety was soo poor! Even the meat cooked by the live cooks was not at a good standard, if I can offer one piece of advice it is DO NOT GO TO THE A LA CARTE GRILL RESTAURANT. We went on the Tuesday and my sister was being sick from the pork. She missed 3 days of holiday as she was being sick in the room and could barely eat anything for the rest of the holiday (not that she missed out on much).

The flies! Oh my god the flies!! Why does no one warn you of this on the reviews?! The resort is placed near a banana plantation and the place is swarming with them, when you are eating they are literally sitting on your hands and on your food, me and my family say we were basically eaten alive by the flies...

It was a shock as soon as we arrived, even when you go far into the restaurant they still manage to find you!! The pool bar is the worst for this so make sure you take your food away from here, but even when you do we found the flies would crawl on you as you sunbathe.

They moved the lunch buffet to another restaurant 3 times during our stay, this was frustrating as no warning until you get to the lunch buffet and realise you have to go somewhere else. The different venue for the buffet was shocking, a lot worst for flies than the normal restaurant and a lot less choice for food. We were told that the breaded chicken (the main thing in there) was gone by 2pm so that was that, no more coming out.

One of the pools was shut during a short time of our stay due to a fecal incident and the other toddler pool was emptied for maintenance. the pool bar machine for drinks was unavailable due to technical problems which made queues even longer.

As it is a family hotel, we expected the staff to be really lovely in the restaurants but oh my not at all, they are so busy and over worked they just want your drink order and to get on with it. It was awkward to ask for another drink despite being all inclusive and they were very funny about going up to ask for a drink, I had to go up and ask a number of times as one drink each isn't ideal for a dinner with a family of 8. By Friday night (18th June) the restaurant was packed and there was a large queue of families wanting to go to eat, I would say at the least 20 people waiting.

Just all round super disappointed in our holiday, we only have one a year and were really really looking forward to going after all of the covid that has stopped us from travelling, but this was just a very poor holiday and we did not enjoy it. We would have gone out to eat more at restaurants but there was no where near by without going up and down the steep hill to the beach.

An amazing visit to the Landmar Hotel Costa Los Gigantes

Even writing this makes me sad that I'm not there anymore.

We visited for our first family holiday, with our children aged 5 and 3. We all absolutely loved it...

The food was brilliant (I'm vegan and still had enough choice!), the waiting staff were so friendly and great with kids, the hotel was beautiful and clean, the pools were amazing and the things for kids to do were fantastic.

The animation team in charge of the kids club, disco and shows were a pleasure to meet - Monica, Yoni, Javi (there's more of them but I'm trying to remember their names!)

The hotel is a short walk from the beach, local shops and surrounded by great trips like Dolphin watching boat trips!

I want to give a massive thank you to all of the team at the hotel, honestly the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at and full of the friendliest people. Thank you for having us!

Hasta pronto (see you soon), hopefully!
