⚠️ WARNING – Think twice before booking Vikingen Infinity Resort I strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to read the recent reviews carefully before booking. Our experience was extremely disappointing and, unfortunately, nothing like the holiday we expected. The main restaurant is far too small for the number of guests. There are huge queues, people push past each other, and at busy times it is genuinely difficult to even reach the food. By the time you finally get your food and reach a table, it can already be cold. The food is repetitive and largely the same throughout the stay. There is very little variety, and after a few days it becomes extremely disappointing, especially considering the price of the holiday. We also had serious concerns about cleanliness. On several occasions, we were given dirty or inadequately washed plates, glasses and other dishes. This is completely unacceptable for an all-inclusive hotel and should be one of the basic standards guests can expect. The drinks were also very disappointing, both in terms of quality and the way they were served. The reception staff were, in our experience, extremely unhelpful and rude. Communication in English was difficult and we did not feel that our concerns were being taken seriously. The hotel was also extremely crowded, with a large number of Russian-speaking and Turkish-speaking guests during our stay. This contributed to the queues and overcrowding and made the overall experience even more frustrating. Our room was very small. Despite booking a room with a sea view, we were told that there were no other rooms available and that we had to stay in the room we were given. Unfortunately, the room we received did not have the sea view we had booked/expected. The daytime entertainment was practically nonexistent. There were no proper activities around the pool during our stay, very little atmosphere and hardly any music. The only entertainment we saw was some evening shows in the amphitheatre. The food service was also poorly organised. Kebabs were advertised from 12:00 until 16:00, but when the meat ran out, they simply stopped serving them earlier. On one occasion, after waiting around 20 minutes in the queue, we were told that there were no more kebabs. The ice cream was available for only two hours, which created another long queue. Overall, the hotel felt seriously overcrowded, poorly organised and below the standard we expected. Long queues, repetitive food, cold food, dirty dishes, disappointing drinks, poor communication, a small room and almost no daytime entertainment made this holiday extremely frustrating. We would not return to Vikingen Infinity Resort and, based on our experience, we cannot recommend it. ⚠️ If you are thinking of booking this hotel, read the recent reviews carefully and consider whether this is really the standard you expect from your holiday.

Great family holiday – lots to like, but watch out for the extras

We stayed here as a family and overall had a really enjoyable holiday. There is a huge amount of food available, with plenty of choice and lots of different places to eat, particularly at lunchtime. Breakfast is much more repetitive – it was essentially the same every morning and did get a little monotonous after a while – but lunch and dinner more than made up for it with the variety of options.

Drinks are available everywhere! There are bars all over the resort serving pretty much everything you could want – cocktails, mocktails, soft drinks, beer, spirits, wine and Prosecco. You certainly don't have to walk far to find a drink.

The staff work incredibly hard. They are constantly on the go and we saw them working non-stop throughout the resort. They really do deserve recognition for how hard they work.

We unfortunately needed to use the doctor during our stay. She was absolutely lovely and very helpful. Just be aware that she is actually a nurse, so if you need a prescription, she can't issue one herself and you'll need to visit a local clinic. The hotel provides a free transfer to the clinic, which was very helpful, although the clinic was extremely expensive. Thankfully, this should be something your travel insurance can cover.

There are lots of swimming pools of different depths, so there really is something for all ages. The waterpark is fun, particularly for children, but I'd describe it more as seven slides next to each other rather than a full waterpark. Still, the kids had great fun on them!

There is lots of evening entertainment, although we didn't actually attend any of it ourselves, so I can't really comment on the quality.

We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel shops. We'd expected them to be expensive, but actually found the prices surprisingly reasonable. They sell everything from basic toiletries and swimming inflatables to souvenirs, as well as the usual fake branded perfumes and bags. We bought swimming ear plugs with a nose clip for just €3.50, which we thought was very reasonable.

One of our favourite things was the coffee bar in the lobby. The coffee machines around the resort aren't particularly good, but the lobby coffee bar serves proper coffee with loads of choices – black coffee, flat whites, macchiatos, cappuccinos, frappés and iced coffees. They also do milkshakes in chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. They only have two milkshake flavours available each day, so it's a bit of pot luck which ones you'll get! Our girls absolutely loved them.

A word of warning about the "extras" Even though this is an all-inclusive holiday, be prepared for lots of extras being offered. Excursions are a big one. We did a couple during our stay, but personally we wouldn't do them again – we actually felt we got more enjoyment out of staying at the hotel and making use of everything there. The excursions are already quite expensive, and once you're on them there is further selling of things such as photographs and drinks, which can be very expensive. Just be aware of this before booking. You also don't get free WiFi in the resort, you have to pay for it, per device.

Finally, money: you can often pay for things in euros, but this generally needs to be cash. If you're paying by card, you'll be charged in Turkish lira. We used our Revolut card and found this worked well.

Overall We had a lovely family holiday and there is a huge amount to keep everyone occupied. It's not perfect – the repetitive breakfasts and the constant extras are worth knowing about – but the amount of food, drinks, pools, activities and facilities make it a good choice for a family holiday.

For us, the biggest positives were the variety of food at lunch and dinner, the fantastic choice of drinks, the number of pools, the hard-working staff and the lobby coffee bar. We would happily return, although next time we'd probably spend more time enjoying the resort itself and less on the excursions.

Just returned! Great Holiday….

We just left the Vikingem yesterday after spending 10x nights here with a family of 15 ranging from ages 14 to 70 and we found no faults whatsoever! We all had a great time!

Check-In: We arrived late afternoon and check-in was smooth and quick. Thank you to the hotel staff who brought all our cases to our rooms - super helpful!

Rooms: We stayed in the economy room which was for 3x people (myself, Husband & Son) and we felt there was plenty of room and storage space. Beds were a bit hard as I’m not used to a hard bed but I soon got used to it and it was fine.

Cleaners: We had our bins emptied, toilet roll/towels replenished everyday! Couldn’t fault the hard work the cleaners do on a daily basis in the heat! Thank You!

Bar Staff: Super friendly - no issues whatsoever!

Coffee Lounge Bar Staff: A particular male was rude to my family, especially the children who were treated like they were invisible in the queue - he could learn to be a bit nicer even if he was/is having a bad day (which was most days).

Food: This is plentiful and there is something for everyone! At lunch my family often ate at the Chicken Corner, Chicken Kebabs or Pool Snack Bar and it was absolutely fine! Breakfast for me wasn’t great but other members of my party often found something to eat and Dinner there was always something you could eat even for the picky eaters! Plenty of salads which I loved! I even tried Anchovies for the first time and loved them! Some of the dishes are questionable but you do have to remember they are catering for a number of nationalities and not just English!

Pools/Waterslides: These were great, spacious and plenty of them! Waterslides are over the bridge - just a short walk! We sunbathed on the piers one day and it was great, there was plenty of beds, a nice breeze and everyone was able to swim/snorkle in the sea - we saw plenty of fish and turtles! There are lifeguards too on each pier which puts your mind at ease!

Location: You are quite isolated and not many places you can walk to but it is easy to ask Reception for taxis! We got two taxis to Alara Grand Bizaar one night and it was approx 2000 lira there and 2000 lira back (approx £60 in GBP which is fine if splitting the cost between family members which we did). We also did a boat trip which we booked via our Love Holidays rep and that was worth it! The price was £35pp which included pick up/drop off at hotel, food and soft drinks on the boat - we visited some lovely locations! Most days we stayed on the resort as it was big enough and some days it was just too hot to do anything else other than sit in the pool 🤣

Entertainment: We didnt really go to the entertainment as our family often sat in the Lounge/Lobby area having drinks/playing cards etc but we did go to the Disco one night at the discotech and it was fab! I think its only on once a week but worth it! Even our teenage kids and adults of our party were up dancing!

Overall Experiance: We had a great time and would definately recommend this hotel to friends & family. We found the Turkish people so helpful, friendly, kind - they couldn’t do enough for you - our Grandpa is disabled and the amount of help they offered was truly amazing!

TripAdvisor Review
A pleasant family holiday, but unfortunately not a 5-star experience

My family and I recently stayed at the resort from 2 July until 12 July, travelling with two other families. Overall, we had an enjoyable family holiday, and there were certainly some positives, but I wanted to leave an honest and constructive review because, in our experience, the resort does not currently meet the standard I would expect from a 5-star property.

Arrival and accommodation

On arrival, we were welcomed by the staff and began the check-in process. While speaking with the front-of-house staff member, we were told three times that if we wanted to upgrade our room, we should come back downstairs and they would “sort something out”. Given the late hour and the fact that we had three young children with us, I simply said we would see how the room was and headed off.

Unfortunately, when we reached our room, 1401, we immediately understood why the upgrade had been suggested.

The corridor smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and the carpets were visibly worn, with some of the edges damaged. The room itself also smelled of smoke and, in our opinion, was not suitable for a family with young children. It was also located at the very end of the resort, overlooking a grass bank and car park, with people able to see into the room relatively easily.

Our friends, who were travelling with us, were also allocated two rooms that were disappointing, including room 1501 directly above ours.

We ultimately paid £200 to upgrade for the remainder of our stay and moved to room 2362. Although this room was smaller, it had an ocean view and, importantly, did not smell of smoke.

However, even this room was showing signs of wear. On arrival, plugs were hanging away from the wall, the bathroom wallpaper had numerous marks and the standard of morning room cleaning was inconsistent throughout our stay.

Had this been advertised and priced as a 3-star or 4-star resort, I would have been much more accepting of this. However, when a resort is marketed as 5-star, I believe the accommodation should reflect that standard.

Food and dining

The food around the pool was good and was particularly convenient for us as a family with young children. We spent most of our days around the children’s pool and beach, so being able to get food there was a real positive.

We ate at the evening buffet every night. The quality of the food was generally good, but the dining experience itself became one of the most stressful parts of the day.

The buffet was extremely busy and felt chaotic, particularly around the entrance and the areas where people were collecting plates and food. We tried going at different times throughout the week, but it remained very busy.

With what appears to be a very large number of guests using the same dining area within a relatively short period, I feel the restaurant simply isn’t designed to handle the volume of people comfortably.

On one occasion, our young son was bumped into and ended up with a full plate of food over him. Unfortunately, the person who bumped into him didn’t even apologise. Obviously, this isn’t the resort’s fault, but it highlights how difficult and chaotic the dining environment could become.

Again, the food itself was good, but the overall dining experience did not feel like what I would expect from a 5-star resort.

The children’s pool, however, was very good, and there was plenty of space for sun loungers and all the equipment we needed as three families.

Kids’ club

Our children attended the kids’ club for around two hours on one day. The staff were lovely and friendly, but unfortunately there wasn’t a huge amount for the children to do, and they didn’t want to return.

I think this is another area where some investment and additional activities could really improve the experience for families.

Drinks and bars

The drinks and cocktails were generally very good, and we had no complaints about the quality.

Our main issue was the cocktail bar next to the children’s pool by the beach. During the busiest part of the day, when families naturally wanted drinks, there appeared to be only one member of staff serving. This resulted in queues of around 20–30 minutes at times.

With three families and several young children, standing in a queue for that length of time for drinks simply isn’t practical, so we eventually gave up and used the bar near the tennis courts instead. That bar didn’t offer the same cocktail selection, but the queue was considerably shorter.

One potential solution could be to introduce a self-service soft drinks station and beer tap, something we experienced at another resort previously. This would take some pressure off the bar staff and allow people to quickly get basic drinks without joining a long queue.

Overall

I want to stress that we did have a good family holiday. The staff were generally friendly, the food quality was decent, the pool and beach areas were enjoyable, and there are clearly some good foundations here for a really enjoyable family resort.

However, there are several relatively straightforward improvements that I believe could make a significant difference.

My main reason for writing such a detailed review is the fact that this resort is marketed as 5-star. If it were advertised as a 3-star or 4-star resort, I would have approached many of these issues very differently and probably wouldn’t have written this review.

Unfortunately, based on the condition of the accommodation, the organisation of the buffet, the queues at the drinks bar and the limited kids’ club offering, I don’t believe the experience currently reflects a 5-star standard.

I hope the management takes this feedback in the constructive way it is intended. There is a lot of potential here, and with some investment, better organisation and attention to the guest experience, I believe the resort could become a much better option for families.

Thank you to the staff who did make our stay enjoyable, and I hope some of these points can be addressed for future guests.

Won’t be returning honest review.

A family of 4 visiting for 9 nights. Honest review. Hotel is overall very well looked after. Pool areas-Lifeguards very friendly & great with the kids. Kids absolutely loved the waterpark. Entertainment- it was ok, been to better hotels. The shows & disco are on late my children were to tired too stay up that late. We did the foam party on Thursday which was good fun. Restaurant- main restaurant this is where the hotel is terrible! It’s like a cattle market. People are rude pushing & shoving. The food is very poor. Breakfast they provide mash, chips, onion rings! Very bizarre . The best places to eat are at lunch time down by the beach or the doner wraps. We did have to eat out 5/9 nights because of the repetitive options. We highly recommend blue shark.

One evening we was sitting at the beach bar playing uno with the kids when we saw a rat running from the chicken restaurant. To say I jumped on my chair & scream was an understatement!

Rooms- clean & tidy as expected
