Very good with some improvements required

This review comes with a caveat - we have not stayed in the Maldives before and we do not normally stay in large resorts. We were here for a friends birthday and here is our honest appraisal as first timers!

Stunning plane ride in, amazing. Check in was smooth.

Kanifushi is a gorgeous island and everything is well spaced out, it is very private and well laid out...

Easy to get around with the buggies, we hired bikes which are not great quality and not so well maintained. However it was handy to have them, although we had our bikes 'stolen' one morning by other guests as we had not locked them up when we popped back to our villa for something, so use your locks!

We stayed in a water villa (without pool) it was a great space and we were facing the arrival jetty and beach. Swim in and out, we loved it. The sea planes were a real highlight of the trip for us. I agree with a previous review though, do not stay in a water villa if you so not want planes flying over, particularly 5.45am/6am. it didn't bother us as we wore ear plugs although a couple of times I was up for sunrise anyway as it was so stunning. The only room niggle I had was that a couple of the bath towels were fraying, not what I would expect considering the classification of this resort. We had a couple of AC issues that were instantly fixed, the engineering staff were really efficient.

The adults pool area was great with good cocktails, although by the middle of the day the pool itself had a sun lotion sludge near the entry, so we opted for the sea.

Every staff member we came across at the resort was very helpful and pleasant. I agree when reviews say the staff make it, they really do. We tipped in dollars, available from reception. We also tipped the pool and mini bar guys as they often get forgotten.

The food is very good all round. Ceylon Bliss is a great concept and lovely for sunset, although the food was not consistently good.

The only issue we had with the resort was the restaurant booking system for 'Just Veg' and 'Pier 6'. As we are not resort people we were not familiar with the concept of booking our restaurants before arrival at Kanifushi and so we didn't fill in the form, we figured we were on holiday and why therefore do we have to be on a schedule? This decision backfired, as whilst our assistant/butler was fairly helpful in some ways, when it came to eating in the two restaurants we were told they were full most of the time. She then attempted to book us into various restaurants in advance, so we were back on 'schedule'. On the second occasion she told us the restaurants were full we went by them (circa 8pm) to see for ourselves and there were maybe 3-4 tables at most, we assumed people just didn't arrive for their pre booked time slot and didn't think to let their assistant know they were not dining there. In the end we just showed up at these restaurants and ate there without booking. The booking system requires a review and until that is done if you are staying here then book your restaurants in advance!

Overall we had a fantastic time on our first Maldives experience, as did our friends. We also did a Male tour organised by the staff at the main airport who stored our bags for us. It is worth doing if you have more than a couple of hours to wait for your flight out.

Trip of a lifetime, brilliant resort and great customer service

Review by ElspethOneill1989 Milton Keynes, United Kingdom

We have just got back from a week at Atmosphere Kanifushi and cannot rate the resort, food, accommodation and team highly enough! The package includes great experiences at the a la carte restaurants also, as well as sunset cruises, snorkelling and fishing trips etc. Both rooms we stayed in (sunset water villa with pool and beach bungalow with pool were excellent), the island itself was big enough that the beaches seemed like your own private beach given the space vs. Number of holidaymakers on the island so you never felt overlooked or crowded at all...

Lastly the staff are what made the difference, each group being assigned our own point of contact to reach out to should be need anything at all via WhatsApp was brilliant - both Sabah and Sapko went above and beyond to make sure we had the best time and had no worries including our travel arrangements and any covid worries. We will definitely be back! Thanks - from Elspeth and Jamie

Absolute DISASTER

When you are ready to pay for long deserved vacation and accept the recommendation, and pay for the Grand pool villa, at least you expect good service Paradise by nature is absolutelY DESTROYED by BAD SERVICE AND EVERYTHING IS BAD which is not by nature.

Can you believe that event THE BEACH IS BAD because nobody cleans the corals and you cannot enter the water.

Imagine the disappointment when you travel whole around the globe and arrive to the Hell at Paradise.

Each point if staff is absolutely non responsible. They are nice but useless...

Sorry, sorry, sorry, but we don’t care….

Disaster!

Amazing Island getaway!

Review by rjf311080 Mumbai, India

Arrival A representative from the hotel meets you on arrival and then helps you with getting your luggage checked in on the seaplane which is run by Trans Maldivian Airways. After the luggage is checked in, you are taken to the Atmosphere Kanifushi Lounge to wait for the plane to be ready. The lounge is a short shuttle bus trip away and is equipped with rest rooms where you can freshen up and plenty of refreshments – tea, coffee, juices, snacks, etc. Once the sea plane is ready, another shuttle bus takes you to the Seaplane Terminal...

Kanifushi island is a short 35 min flight away. There is a speed boat option available as well I believe but that takes 3 to 4 hours to cover the same distance. On arrival at the island, we were presented with the option of chilled Champagne or fresh coconut water served inside the tender coconut! We were also introduced to Sandy – our Guest Relationship manager – who really looked after us during the whole trip. She was warm, friendly and always reachable! Every evening, without fail, she would send us the schedule of activities for the next day so that we could plan our day accordingly.
Accommodation We booked the Sunset Villa which is basically one room with an attached bathroom and a door that opens on to the beach. Its an amazing view to wake up to and the sound of the ocean is incredibly soothing. The other options available were the Sunset Pool Villa – which is basically a similar villa but with its own pool – and the on the water villas. In terms of cost, the on the water villas were the most expensive and we were advised by our travel agent that they may not be suitable since we had a 4 year old with us. But the Sunset Villa was perfect for us. There was a queen-sized bed in the center of the room and they put in 2 additional single beds on either side for the kids. It did cramp the room a bit, but we were not indoors much so it did not really make a difference. The villa, like all the other indoor locations on the island, had free Wi-Fi. There was a mini bar that was re-stocked daily as part of our package. The room was equipped with everything that you would need – a small locker for your valuables, an ironing board, an iron, a hair dryer, hangers, umbrellas, cupboards, insect nets for the beds, insect spray, mosquito repellant vaporizer, cups, coffee machine with coffee pellets, teas bags (variety), etc. I must mention though that we did not encounter too many mosquitoes either in the room or elsewhere on the island during our stay there. There was the one off gecko in the room but, as one of the signs in the bathroom reminded us, they helped keep the mosquitoes in check. The room was cleaned twice a day. It had a TV as well which had a decent mix of sports, movies and TV show channels. There was also a jacuzzi bathtub in the bathroom which was partially open to sky. Facilities There are several restaurants available on the island – Spice (buffet), Sunset (ala carte, limited menu), Ceylon Bliss (Sri Lankan Street food, set menu which changes daily), Liquid (bar), Just Veg (ala carte, prior reservation required), Pier 6 (ala carte, fine dining, specialty sea food, prior reservation required) and Teppanyaki Grill (Japanese, not included in our Platinum package). Just Veg, as the name suggests, is a pure vegetarian restaurant where each item is plated uniquely. The flavors are amazing and even I, being a pure non-vegetarian, really enjoyed the meal. The setting for Ceylon Bliss is what sets it apart from the others. It is set outdoors on the sand facing the ocean. The tables and chairs seem carved directly out of the trees. The ambience is really good even though the food, when compared to the other options on the island, was not that great. The drinks menu is the same across all the restaurants and it is an extensive menu that provides a variety of cocktails, mocktails, beers, spirits, wines and juices. There were common pools available on either end of the island – one at the Liquid and the other at Sunset. There was a kid’s pool available only at the Liquid however. The island is approximately 2 km in length and, if you don’t like walking, there are constantly shuttles moving from end to the other that you can hop on to. There is also an app available that you can use to track the movement of the shuttles. There are also cycles available that you can request for and keep with you for the duration of your stay. Just be aware that there are limited options available with child seats. Included in our package was a sunset cruise – which I felt was a little too short – and a fishing cruise. There are also snorkeling trips that go out twice a day. However, you need to be an experienced snorkeler as the boats take you out to deep waters where there are currents. If you are not up for deep sea snorkeling, the resort has built a small reef around their jetty around which you can snorkel and see plenty of sea life including fishes of different sizes and colors and sting rays. Snorkeling equipment including fins is available at the dive center. There are also other sea sports available such as jet skis, scuba diving, dolphin trips, kayaking, etc. These will have to paid for separately. We paid for a dolphin excursion and were fortunate enough to see a pod of hundreds of dolphins! Really worth the price. The island also has a Thai spa. With the Platinum package, there was a 50% discount available for the spa/massage. The resort also has a well equipped recreation center which has a couple of Xboxes with popular games such as Fifa and PubG, a pool table, a table tennis table, a couple of carrom boards, chess, darts, a gym, and a tennis court. There is a kids club available as well where there are activities for younger children including a movie night, painting, craft workshops, babysitting, etc. The staff are very friendly and good with children. I think the club could use a larger TV though.

Experience of a Lifetime !!

Review by kubermh New Delhi, India

Amidst the covid chaos had the chance to visit the magical Maldives with my lovely wife as we celebrated our 2nd honeymoonon the occasion of our 25th wedding anniversary! We chose Atmosphere Kanifushi for a 3 nights stay at The Sunset Water Villa with Private Pool & it turned out to be a heavenly experience !! The property has every ingredient of a Dream Holiday & once we landed at the airport we were promptly transferred to a private lounge where we sat and relaxed with wifi and snacks fruits & beverages as we waited for our sea plane transfer. The 40 minute sea plane ride was a breathtaking experience as we flew over lagoons and private island resorts before landing at our fabulous resort . We were given a traditional welcome followed by chilled champagne ! Immediately a guest Manger SANDY( she was simply outstanding very prompt and extremely courteous)was assigned to us who gave us a tour of the entire property and later dropped us at our water villa. The villa was fabulous the bed super comfy the washroom was bigger then most hotel rooms with a lagoon facing bath tub ! The pool deck had ample space with loungers and sit outs & the pool was perfect in size and very well maintained ! Chilled wine and fully stocked mini bar was there at our disposal ...

Spice the all day dining spoiled you for choices ! Liquid the most happening please to chill & relax ! Sunset the fun pool with a beautiful private beach with soft white sand and pristine blue water ( all shades of blue you can imagine ) The best of all was the Fine Dining experience at JUST VEG & they served some outstanding world class dishes !! We enjoyed the water sports , the recreation area and the SPA !! The therapists were from Bali & it was an awesome relaxing experience.
SPECIAL THANKS TO The GM of the Resort Miss MEI who took great care of us & did everything she could possibly do to make it an experience of a life time & the best Holiday Ever !! Will definitely love to visit Maldives again & without an IOTA of doubt will plan my stay at The Fabulous Atmosphere Kanifushi Again !!!!!
