Seaplane Pilot Review

I had the unfortunate experience of having to stay at this island on many occasions on my last flight of the day as an overnight. This overnight was on or near the worst place to stay list of the more than fifty resorts we went to.We stay in the same rooms as guests at this resort and they are old dirty possibly in the 2 star range. The staff are underpaid and training is lacking, not their fault for poor service but no excuse for not being nice. There are many other places to stay but beware there are lots of of resorts that operate on the plan that they will get into your wallet while you are here because you wont be back.Contact people for their opinion before you go to a resort how they get 4 and 5 star ratings is beyond me. The sun and beaches in the Maldives are the best I have ever seen and good accommadation and service are available but do some research the Maldives are not cheap or close for most people.

The most beautiful place in the world

Review by Lucy R

There are simply no other words to describe this resort than outstanding. I am lucky enough to be well travelled and I can honestly say that the staff here provided a customer experience that went above and beyond our every expectation. Rasheed from the restaurant team was our waiter, and what a privilege it was to be greeted by him every day, he is a truly kind and funny man and an asset to Coco Palm...

The island is absolutely beautiful, the snorkelling is incredible and the food exquisite.

Thank you so much Coco Palm, we will be back ❤️

1 week honeymoon

Review by Francimau1

We stay at Coco Palm for 6 days, for our honeymoon. Loved the natural style and furnitures of the resorts that blends in well with the savage island. In general it is not an extreme luxury resort like the ones you see in the advertisements of the Maldives, but definitely pleasant and comfortable, which deserves 4 stars as it is a bit oldoldfashion. In August the weather was not perfect, in fact I would say always cloudy, but being very hot it did not bother us that much.Water was warm and limpid...

We were in a beach villa so from the bungalow, with 4 steps, we reached the sunbeds on the beach. For me this solution 'was better than the overwater, because I could walk on the sand, enjoy swimming on the shore, while if you are in' overwater and want to use the beach you still have to go on the beds that are there for all guests, personal choice but our advice and 'to avoid the overwater that among other things are also more' expensive. On the beach there was without exaggeration at least 20 meters between one villa and another and between us and the other guests, a paradise in short. Unfortunately I must admit that some villas were completely without beach in front because of the erosion from the sea. So absolutely make sure you have the beach and sand in front of the villa before going !!!! The reef is not the best but for us who are not experts it was nice to see colorful fishes and corals, the resort provides equipment such as mask and snorkel for free. We had a massage a day in the beautiful SPA, top service masseuses very competent,a true paradise. The food was very good and fresh, every night there were different things cooked at the time and a variety of options at the buffet really endless! Waiter service at the table not the best, for some reason the director of the room always wanted us to sit where she wanted, although the tables overlooking the beach were free! I do not recommend tipping the waiters because they are always changing and rotating in the room, so you never get service from the same person even during one meal. The resort also offers some excursions, we have visited the island of the fishermen, I recommend it because it gives you the true idea of the Maldives, that is a Muslim country in poverty and in precarious conditions of life, sad to say but the true. To the airport be careful, because we have been approached by some locals that wanted to bring us in a waiting room saying that they were of our tour operator but obviously they were not and fortunately we have not accepted. That says excellent compromise to stay in a paradise on earth, in a 4 star hotel so for a reasonable amount given the context but obviously prohibitive for most people (including us, who received it as a wedding gift).

Mixed feelings

Review by daisythecat East Kilbride, United Kingdom

We spent a week here over Christmas. It was very mixed weather which is obviously out of the resorts control.
We had sunset beach villa which was on a lovely beach, the other side of the island didn't seem to have much beach at all...

The room itself was large & generally ok but there were a few flaws. Very little drawer or shelf space. Also, for me the bathroom configuration with the toilet & shower outside separated by a door from the sink inside just didn’t work. I found getting dried after my shower was quite treacherous since the tiled floor became slippy easily & there was no bathmat in the outside part. One thing that was great was that there were plenty mirrors , including one with lights for putting on makeup. The interior of the island was lovely & lush probably one of the best we have ever seen. They seemed to fog several times a week but we still got bitten so make sure you have plenty of insect repellent. The beach bar was only open 17:30 -20:00 which was slightly disappointing since it would have been nice for a post lunch drink. Food well it got better, but the 1st few days were really poor with little choice & what was there wasn't great. When dishes ran out on t he buffet they weren't replaced. What was also strange was that even water seemed rationed. You were given a half glass full , & the bottle taken away. I asked for a big glass one day & I did get it but it wasn't the norm. The food was better in the 2nd half of the week & as mentioned we heard there were supply issues . The other issue as there wasn't enough waiting staff & you usually waited an age o get you half glass of water & one drink.
We were also disappointed that your AI plan ended at 12:00 on the day you leave. With many people on late flights this seems like a money grabbing plan One of our highlight was seeing the work done in the turtle sanctuary. We also did some diving, the diving was fine but the old dhoni seemed unstable & the newer boat wasn't really suitable as a dive boat.
All that being said , if we got offered this at a good price we would return - & a price more appropriate for the food standard & service levels

Worst customer service

Review by punkrockwarlord London, United Kingdom

Tired, old, lacking in smiles, awful food, and total disjointed communication between all departments. “Highlights”:-

  • Frequently over charged, my final bill took 2.5hrs to sort out due to total incompetence.
  • no one took responsibility
  • various repeated requests for basic things never materialise
  • countless other guests suffering similar problems as to go to restaurant u have to pass by the reception so frequent arguing is overheard. The island is really basic, falling down, dirty, nothing to do...

All of which could be excused if there was good service.
