Located on the Northwest of North Male Atoll, the Eriyadhu is a picture-perfect retreat. This tranquil island is oval shaped and surrounded by immaculate white, sandy beaches and a fine lagoon. It is a small and unique island combining the typical Maldivian style of warm friendly hospitality in a laidback atmosphere with the activities and luxuries which you would expect from a 4-star resort.
This island is about 45 minutes from Male by speedboat. A representative of the island was waiting for us at the airport and guided us to the speedboat for the transfer.
The island is simply beautiful: sugar-white sand, nice big trees and other beautiful plants...
Houses are built in a way that they are kind of hidden in the "woods", so the whole island looks very natural. This is a small island, it takes not more than 15 minutes to walk around and see everything.
Our room was a sea-view sky room, number 114. Room is not too big, but big enough for a couple. A/C is free of charge, but not very efficient. Rooms are cleaned and towels (incl. beach towels) are changed daily. 500ml water per person is provided with compliments each day (incl. day of arrival and departure). Wifi is free of charge but very-very slow.
Check in is at 2 PM, but if you arrive earlier, you can leave your luggage at the reception and start using everything, incl. your all inclusive package immediately. On the day of departure, all inclusive stops at noon, and your last meal depends on what your first meal was when you arrived (our first meal was a lunch, so on the day of departure our last meal was the breakfast).
Currently only main bar is operating, which is next to the pool. There is a little beach bar on the other side of the island, on the sandy beach, but it was closed, not sure why. Cocktails are amazing, my favourite was the Hurricane. Daiquiri and Cuba Libre are also very good, and there are lot of mocktails (alcohol-free cocktails) and soft drinks as well, and of course beer, wine, local spirits, tea, coffee. In the evening it is amazing to sit on the terrace and watch the sunset. After sunset, water is enlightened at the bar and at the jetty, and you can see a lot of fish, including black-tip reef-sharks and nurse sharks. At this time it is not allowed to go into the water (except for guided night diving).
The pool is very nice and clean, water is nice warm. There are sunbeds around the pool, but not too many (given that the pool is not very big either :)). It is an infinity pool with beautiful view to the ocean and the jetty.
On the other side of the island, there is the beach, with sugar white sand and pretty comfortable sunbeds. If you are quick enough in the morning, you can get sunbed and put it under a nice big tree, to have some shadow during the day. If the beach bar had been operational, this would have benn the best place to spend the day, but given that only the main bar was open, we rather spent our time around the pool, and came to the beach just for snorkelling.
Speaking of snorkelling: Eriyadu is famous of its beautiful house-reef, which I can say that it is really amazing. I haven't see so many live corals around any other islands in the past two years. We saw plenty of fish, sharks, turtles, tuna, crabs and many more. Sea-life is simply stunning. Best place to snorkel is between the jetty and the diving center, and on the other side right at the beach bar.
The reason why I don't give 5 points to this island, only 4 is the food. The chef is from Sri Lanka and therefore the majority of the dishes is in Indian style, which I don't like so much. The variety of food is not big at all. For those who don't like curry, sometimes it is hard to find something. Breakfast is pretty good though, with variety of eggs, pancake, gofri, croissant, cheese, sausage, fruits. Sometimes they offer pasta for lunch or dinner, which is very good. I also liked the fish, they offer dishes of tuna for all lunch and dinner (if it is not with curry, it is perfect :)). So I don1t want to say that food is bad, all I'm saying is that the variety is not big, and Indian food is dominant.
Staff is very kind and helpful, they do everything you need to feel good. When we arrived, they asked for our WhatsApp contact and sent useful information in message (e.g. map of the island, drink list for all inclusive, information about covid testing, etc.). Be prepared that there are a lot of mosquitos! We didn't have anything against them, but Moddy gave us a mosquito repellent liquid free of charge and when we ran out of it, he bought some for us in Male (2 USD per 80 ml).
We simply loved this island and I'm sure we will go back! Eriyadu is not for those who want perfect luxury and fine dining, but for those who want to enjoy the nature, ocean, sea-life and barefoot walking - and cocktails :)
Thank you for this memorable vacation!
We really enjoyed our time on the resort. The location is fabulous and the facilities are very good and clean. In addition, the staff is very kind...
In particular, we highly recommend any type of massage in the wellness center. The food is ok, but there is not a big variety if you take the all inclusive package.
Feeling of staying in a Village kind of feel. A lot of maintenance needs to be done- drinks are average - espresso-martini i got was the best out of all the drinks- applause to the bartender who made it - (photo below👇🏻👇🏻) don’t know names cause of no name badges which would be a lot better for those who deserve credit and recognition- Turtle point beach bar side was just a dream 👌🏻🍷 will definitely come back when the bar opens up ( let me know when it does open ) hehe overall we both very happy with our stay 🏝
Both of us enjoyed our stay 👌🏻 thank you for all the friendly smiles.
It was our first time in the Maldives and Eriyadu was a perfect place for us. The island has the tranquil atmosphere, the staff is friendly and polite. The food was great, many different dishes, fruits, and deserts...
The beach which was just outside of our villa was spectacular. Special thank you to Nahim, the relationship manager, who always made sure we were enjoying the island and checking on his guests. The riff is soo beautiful, I saw many kinds of fish and sea creatures. If you like diving there is a diving school and kayak/paddle boards renting. The island is a 45-60 mins boat ride from Male. There is an eriyadu stand, once you leave the baggage area. We waited for our boat ride no more than 15 mins. Everything was efficient. Thank you very much!
Incredible holidays! We’ve definitely fallen in love with the island. The most beautiful thing was the reef and lots of different animals there including turtles, rays and sharks swimming next to us. Many thanks to a very friendly staff working on the island. All was going so smoothly and relaxed there. We had escaped from reality for a week and enjoyed our lives every single minute. The ocean was wonderful, baby sharks were always swimming next to the seashore and there were lots of ideal seashells all around...
It was the exact thing we were looking forward to- NATURE. If you look for luxurious villas- it’s not the place like that. Eriyadu Island is about nature in its beauty. Animals, fantastic ocean, a tiny isolated island- this is all about Eriyadu. Highly recommended!
