A beautiful resort

Review by bozlurr2021

This was my first trip to Maldives. I had high expectations and they have certainly been exceeded. The flight to the island by seaplane was nice and as the boat carried me to the island, you could tell this was going to be a fascinating and relaxing place...

I spent eleven wonderful and relaxing days on the island. Just to mention the resort highlights: Staff: All staff have been wonderful to me. Right from the beginning they remembered my name, also asked if I needed anything and remembered my preferred places to seat. All special requirements, like restaurant visits, dietary request as well as help with all other organizational issues were taken care immediately. Wifi is only available in the lobby/restaurant areas of the island so if you need to be in communication with the outside world around the island, buy a sim from Male airport. Dining: The island has two restaurants, one with with a la carte menus. Special mention and thank you to Hussain, Mufazol, Rubel and Raj who did a fantastic service. The main restaurant, where breakfast and dinner is served, offers fresh food with daily changing themes (Asian, continental, etc.) The restaurant has a relaxing atmosphere and was a good walking distance from my room. A special mention to Head Chef Sohel, who did a great job. Accomodation: I had water villa with a wonderful views and a beach villa facing the sea. I could jump from my own stairwell into the ocean and went snorkeling right infront of the villa. I saw more than 15 different fish species inc sharks. A special mention to Vaisakh, Muja and Missy. Thank you for a wonderful time. I was also happy to observe that the staff maintained Covid social distancing and all staff wore face masks. Overall the island is very beautiful and I really enjoyed the time here and would come back. I can also recommend the island to every family.

A perfect location to destress and escape. Friendly and attentive staff, relaxed atmosphere, rooms on the beach, 30m swim to the reef with amazing snorkeling. Food is good and plentiful, pool and sunset bar a delight.

Fantastic house roof, good food, beautiful island

Filitheyo Review

We chose this location due to the reviews on the house reef and were not disappointed! Stayed in Water Bungalow and I would highly recommend this -- it's wonderful to hear the ocean waves at night, cooler than on the island itself, and has gorgeous views of sunrise/sunset. We able to enter the water right from our own deck. Saw hundreds of types of fish, including a lemon shark, reef sharks, and Moray eel right in our "backyard" and along the drop-off, which you can easily swim to...

I see others described the rooms as "tired" or "old." While the room may not be perfectly pristine like a 5-star island resort, it is still very clean and relaxing! We had a huge king-sized bed with an EXTREMELY comfortable mattress; large flat-screen TV (which we never turned on); good A/C; and twice daily excellent cleaning service. Also, unlike some other island resorts, we did not have an assigned room butler (although this may be because of very few customers and a light staff due to travel restrictions from India and other nearby countries), but actually we LIKED not having someone constantly hovering over us, so this was a plus for us.

All-inclusive buffet was very good! Lunch/dinner buffet alwasy had an excellent salad bar with multiple types of dressings, bread/rolls; fresh fruits; and a dessert area with 4 or 5 choices and ice cream. For main course, there was always a fish station (sashimi/sushi, cooked fish), some type of meat (e.g. black peppered roast beef one night), and a station that seemed to rotate types of cuisine (e.g. chicken satay one day, lamb kafta the next). Outside of that, there were always 3 or 4 types of curries, including a vegetarian one. If you don't like curry and are a picky eater, you might be a ittle bit limited as to food choices, but we love curry and enjoyed trying a different type every day. Plus the quality of food was excellent -- fresh, rotated daily (we never ate the same main course or dessert and were there for 7 days) -- and we prefer quality over endless variety, so we found it more than satisfactory.

We went during an extremely light travel time due to COVID-19 (maybe only 20-30 people or so). This did mean the excursions were quite limited. We wanted to go on two snorkeling safaris, both of which should have been included in the All-Inclusive deal, but the first one didn't happen, I'm guessing because not enough guests were present. However, I would recommend that snorkeling safari to anyone who goes there -- the reef they take you to is fantastic, with coral gardens that seem to be recovering better than the others we have seen so far from the 2017 bleaching that affected most of the Maldives.

The only negative I can think of is that $420 for seaplane transfer per person was pretty expensive ( there ius no regular flight/boat option.)

All-in-all, if you are in the Maldives for snorkeling, this is an excellent place to be. We have stayed at one other resort (Dusit Thani) which also has a great house reef, but this resort was half the price with just as good of a house reef. We were happy to "sacrifice" 5-star accommodations for 4-star accommodations to have a fantastic house reef to explore, beautiful ocean views, and good food! I am looking forward to returning here in the future!
