We recently visited rahaa from the 30th October to the 6th November. We had such an amazing holiday which was made better by the staff members, some that were truly amazing. We did two house reef tours which were included within the price. The boat boys were brilliant, maahu and the other boy who did the snorkelling with him(didnt catch his name) , we did a turtle tour with these two, it was amazing and competely out of this world. The reef was beautiful, we also saw a turtle, big thankyou to fiyaz and zaan who drove the boat to the excursions and also took us back to the airport on our last day and stopped so we could see the dolphins swimming by, great way to officially finish our holiday. The young lady who really made our holiday was Indri from ko bar, she was so polite friendly and chatty. All the dining staff were great especially malz and fiaz. The food was average, My partner and mother are quite picky eaters, some nights there was nothing there they'd eat, so they just had a salad, there is a lot of fish and curry, one night they had steak, 3 of the nights there was chicken. They did 4 stalls one night. From different countries, this provided a big choice of food for everyone, they did serve pasta dishes for several of the nights too. Breakfast is the same everyday, pancakes, waffles, eggs and fruit, the all inclusive drinks are ok. 5 house cocktails, 5 mocktails, beer and soft drinks and fresh juice. The mini bar is topped up every night, the WiFi is good. We did the canones one day, we saw some stingray, the sea is very shallow from the front of the bungalows for miles. The front of the island by the bar, is a perfect little spot to snorkel to see some fish and a little coral. Overall this island is like a little piece of paradise and we would love to return one day. Thankyou to all the staff at raha resort.
To start. Yes its a long journey, 3 flights and a boat transfer. We were met at the airport by the Rahaa rep and escorted to the VIP Lounge to wait for the internal flight. Once you land on Rahaa you step into the idyllic Island of Rahaa. You are welcomed by the staff and given a drink and a cold towel. You are shown to your Villa which is large and clean. Looking out of the sliding doors, through the trees (the shade is needed) to the emerald green sea. The food was generous and tasty, there was always something different to try. The head chef was always walking around and asking if the food was ok. He even made us a special curry one night and it was to die for .If you want burgers and chips every night this it not the place. The staff were so personnel, they could not do enough for you. Even the GM made himself available every day and would interact with all guests.
Rahaa is a small Island so you can imagine there isn't a lot of people on this Island, so you can imagine you would meet all different nationalities and we would always find a way to communicate.
In my view Rahaa is a Rustic Island, its well looked after, for us its what we needed to de stress and chill, we didn't want to do activities every day. In summary, we had a great 2weeks and met some really nice people guests and staff, would we return to Rahaa yes we would. Top tip. Mozzie spray and factor 50 is needed. Beach shoes if you want to explore the shallow water. Snorkels are provided for a few hours but I would take your own. Remember this is an Eco Island.
Had the best holiday, it took me 4 trains, a hotel stay at Heathrow, 3 planes and a speed boat ride but so worth it. When you arrive at Male you are shown to an airport lounge where you can help yourself to food and refreshments whilst you wait for your connecting plane. You are met at the jetty by the staff of the Rahaa with a coconut drink and we could either have lunch or go straight to our beach front accommodation. You are shown around your accommodation which is very large and spacious. The bathroom is amazing and you can have a bath whilst looking up to the sky and listening to the birds. There were some bad reviews about the food but we thought it was good with a good choice available AND FRUIT. The free water sports are great especially the boat trips twice a day snorkelling. We also went on the turtle trip and was amazing, and visited the spa which was great. I have been to the Maldives before but the Rahaa Island is fantastic. It’s good for couples, families, friends or just visiting as a woman on her own. The all inclusive is great and you have everything you could want, the mini bar being replenished each day with wine, beer and soft drinks. You can pay extra for lobster and champagne if you wish. Last but not least I have to say the staff are amazing they are a credit to the resort and are so welcoming and can’t do enough for you. We also met the owner of the island who was a very nice man and even got us front seats in the plane back to Male. I have travelled all over the world to some great places but you can’t beat this perfect island in the middle of the Indian Ocean for a great price compared with some of the other islands.
I visited this island to celebrate my friends 60th Birthday there were three of us . To be honest I was a bit apprehensive as it was going to take us 3 planes and a boat to get there ,but wow it was so worth it . We stayed in a beach front villa where they had added an extra bed ,we could see the sea and had the most amazing stretch of beach in front of us ,with three loungers waiting . The mini bar was great it had red ,white wine and beer . The air con in the room was perfect and Charmara our cleaner would sweep up the sand that made it into our room and turn down our beds at night ,lovely extra touch ,he even decorated our friends bed for us whilst we were at dinner and left her a cake . We all loved the food on offer we found it fresh ,tasty always something different , We were very lucky the other guests were very friendly and we made many friends and even all ate together on the last evening , There were a few evenings of entertainment the crab race was so much fun . We were all dancing bare foot and everyone had a great evening . We went snorkelling ,they take you to another reef so you get a boat trip as-well,we used their complementary masks, flippers and life vests , we also went on the turtle excursion that was amazing we were lucky and saw three turtles up very close , We also used the islands canoe and kayak . We all had a massage I’d definitely recommend that as well , The staff were friendly attentive and a pleasure ( all of them ) Would I go back, yes definitely Things I’d do differently,I’d pack less and go direct and check the domestic flight times if possible , All in all a trip I will never forget thankyou Rahaa x
The island like I'm sure all the islands are magical, the rooms are lovely and very well maintained, they are cleaned daily to a good standard. There's many little things that could be improved but the main problem by far is the food. There is a choice and themed evenings but to he honest it all tastes very similar and is extremely bland. I seriously could go on for a couple of pages about how and why this should be improved but we spoke to the management and unfortunately it landed on deaf ears. It is a shame as we still enjoyed our ten days there but we could and should of loved it!
