If someone is planning to enjoy the maximum hospitality, one must visit Taj Coral Resort & Spa. The experience started right from the time of arrival where Ali was waiting with a smile to welcome us. The speed boat ride took us to the beautiful hidden gem known as Taj Coral Resort & Spa, Maldives... The most humble staff I have ever experienced: Reef Bar (Suman, Rana), Bokkura (Kannan, Sajani), Reception (Gayatri) and the GM himself Samir...
The hospitality passion was visible in each staff member we met there. It shows how wonderful a leader Samir is, who is leading from the front. Never in my travel have I seen a GM greeting the guests and addressing them by names. Imagine! Samir remembers guests names and connects with each one of them at individual level. Resort: Its a hidden gem, very well maintained, spacious rooms... thoroughly followed the Covid related safety protocols to ensure a safe stay of us. Food: our stay wouldn't be complete without giving special credits to Satya, the Executive Chef. The delicacies on offer were a wide spread of Maldivian, Lucknowi, Bengali, Punjabi and South Indian cuisines.
Thank you Taj Coral Resort & Spa team.
Thank you Samir, Thank you Taj for making our stay a memorable one!
I travelled to Maldives with the twin objectives of getting my mind off the pandemic and also off my work ! Thank you Taj Coral Reef for helping me achieve both objectives. The villa location was ideal -- with the sea at my doorstep ! Add the bonus benefit of an expert, friendly chef Satya and untiring staff such as Gayatri, front office executive, Kosala (front office staff), Rajan (front office), Sajani (restaurant staff) and Mr Khanna, the super humble, present everywhere GM. All of them were totally Covid compliant in their behaviour and movements. A special word of THANKS to Chef Satya for serving all the dishes i requested for. And a special word of THANKS to Gayatri for responding quickly to redress my issue regarding a deficient AC (villa 115). Before i could get worked up she came over and made sure i was given a nearby villa (110) where the AC was fine. The SPA has well experienced staff too...
Taj Coral Reef has several mind-blowing features that satisfied me — blue waters till the eye can see, great food, languid pace !. When i had a drink at the Reef Bar and sat on the easy chair, i was so reminded of that loveable Goan expression: SOSEGAAD !! Each member of the team delivered that unique attribute of ‘Tajness’. Thank you Taj Coral Reef Maldives team ! Pls keep it up.
We were family of 2 adults and a 11 yr old child traveling from India. The Coral Reef property was our choice primarily because of our loyalty to the Taj brand, and our preference for a resort with a good house reef for snorkeling. We have stayed at Taj Exotica earlier.
Here's the long and short of it...
The resort is well located, doesn't feel like an endless boat ride, small enough to walk around and get everywhere conveniently. This resort is a well meaning resort with basic facilities and service, certainly far from what one would define luxury. Of course luxury is subjective.
Given the Covid situation all the restaurants were being serviced out of one kitchen, and they were evidently short staffed. There is only so much waiters at Bokkura can do when the backend capacity is constrained.
I am hoping that was an isolated experience as we were certainly well taken care of by Sajani, Imali and Suman at the bar as well as the staff serving dinner at Open the Grill. Food menu is mostly Indian, with standard intnl options in pasta, asian and continental. Good, safe Taj quality food, without getting very experimental. Service in Bokkura is basic -order, wait, wait, wait, eat and leave ...the entire place lacked a sense of warmth. Would've been nice to have daily high tea offered on the beach.
There is a pool table and table tennis table for guests to use. The place certainly missed a live band/ other live entertainment for guests to enjoy.
The guests are a mix, mostly Indian with families/young children/toddlers and some honeynoon couples. Brace yourself for a noisy pool!
Snorkeling was exciting given the reef was literally at our doorstep, no need for a boat to a snorkel site etc. Good natural reef with sealife around both sides of the arrival deck.
Stingray and shark feeding at 5pm everyday was certainly a highlight.
Spa experience was excellent. Good massage staff and service!
While the dive instructors were polite and helpful, the dive offered to the shipwreck felt average, having had dives at much more exciting sites in the past. It is indeed a very short dive of 30mins.....not much bang for the buck.
The water villa was well located close to all the facilities. Rooms are fitted with a good surround sound system, With excellent air con- big relief from the hot humid weather outside. Panoramic glass windows in room and bathroom for uninterrupted views of the ocean.
Coming from a demanding customer with high expectations of Taj, overall this experience would've gone from good to great with small tweaks in the system-
Hope the feedback helps and we will have a 10/10 experience next time!
What an incredible experience from the greeting at the airport to our last evening. The resort & our ocean villa was gorgeous. Snorkeling for beginners to intermediates in the bay is awesome, and with the scuba and snorkeling facilities you can make it more challenging if desired.
Great spa treatment; the couples massage was relaxing and exactly what we need.
Special thank you to Rana, Suman, Imali, Hussain, & Chef Satya for the amazing hospitality & catering to our every need. You guys were honestly the BEST!
Being vegan, you can at times struggle when travelling but all staff put so much effort in to ensure I had great breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
If anyone is a first-timer or regular to the Maldives, please give Taj Coral a go - you won't regret it.
Ps: They are extremely equipped for all covid needs and precautions and have all Covid regulations and necessities you might need for your return trips...
Thank you team and you'll definitely see us again Ryan & Sabrina ❤
It is a family friendly place with extremely humble and helpful staff and also vegetarian and Jain food is perfectly taken care off. Property is bit old and small island compared to other islands in Maldives but it's maintained nicely and budget friendly. Highly recommended
