Excellent food and the nicest staff. We had a really nice stay at the barefoot eco hotel. We want to especially highlight the two service staff Sozib and Parvaz who made our stay so comfortable...
What we also liked were the drinking coconuts that were harvested by the hotel itself.
We had a great stay at Barefoot hotel with our 3 kids. Hôtel and staff are very family friendly in a relax atmosphere. The nice structure of the restaurant and bar is a very pleasant open space to chill out...
Dive center is also very professional and friendly, kudos to Stefano and Sara who are always happy to share their knowledge on the marine life.
Pro: Beach is nice, snorkeling and activities are worth the money, rooms are good, safe overall feeling
Con: Food is somewhat repetitive, wifi is slow (buy 4g in Male), hotel is NOT kids friendly - there are restrictions on how children are allowed to play and no kids activities or facilities offered
Overall great hotel. Comfortable rooms, nice, long beach, well kept garden areas. Diksan from reservations was amazing, answering our many questions with lots of patience.
Things that can be improved:
-In our room toilet bowl had some scratches that looked like dirt...
Better to change anything in that condition. -No garbage bin with a lid in toilet area. It is like an open basket, which is not very hygienic. -Music in restaurant is mostly repetitive. Noone needs to hear the song 'everybody hurts' on vacation everyday. -Staff in restaurants, although very friendly, could not answer all the questions regarding hotel. -No toothbrush and conditioner on request. You have to purchase it from their shop. -Not enough food options for late afternoon. -Rooms are connecting, if your neighbors are noisy you can have a hard time. Ours were not noisy at all. -Wi-Fi connection is not good, gets disconnected a lot. -Lots of mosquitos. Normally it is expected in a tropical island, however, it was simply too many. -Condition of the bikes can be improved. They are very rusty.
We had a good time and would return.
We took flight from Moscow to Male airport, and then another local lightweight fuselage flight to this tropical gem. At first, we were tired and our senses of perception were muted, we saw secondary things like negligible imperfections and a little too much tilting of offered excursions towards snorkeling. But next few days rocked our world...
We watched our home weather updates on our pocket devices (there are no TVs in the bungalows and rooms, because of the nature of this resort hotels – to be closer to the Mother Nature) and couldn’t believe we escaped the worst month of the year to this tropical paradise. Quietness, respectfulness, quality of people, ability to feel oneself aloof yet adventurous, active yet internally relaxing, to enjoy some fresh fish and fruits on the Barefoot dinners are unforgettable. Unfortunately, not all Maldivian experiences are equal. Trying to get as remotely from Male and central atolls definitely pays back with huge premiums. My special thanks and eternal gratitude to manager Grayan who was truly caring and participating – to the extent of helping me at some point pull out a stuck earplug (goods quality has been profoundly plummeting many years in a row) and bring extra blanket when my wife appeared to wrap herself up completely trying to shield from imaginary mosquitoes. Also many thanks for friendliness and intelligent talks to a dining area manager Parvaz. I will seek every opportunity to be here again!
