Ambre - a Sun Resort Mauritius is a chic hotel with some fabulous amenities. Sleek, modern décor, irresistible beach location and exceptional spa, swimming pool and restaurants, it's worth every one of its four stars.
There are so many highlights... the incredible 750-metre long white sandy beach is breath-taking. The sheltered bay of warm azure water is beguiling. Then there's the tropical lagoon. And the spa, and so much natural beauty at every turn.
The Ambre Mauritius plays its part too. It's a beautiful looking hotel. You'll see that in lots of ways - the incredible swimming pool and the stylish Coral Bar for example. But you'll see it in smaller ways too: in every perfectly chosen feature and detail in every room.
And talking of the rooms... Rooms are air-conditioned with a balcony or terrace. In-room facilities include flat-screen satellite tv, safe, minibar, tea/coffee making facilities, telephone, hairdryer and FREE Wi-Fi. Each room has a welcome surprise from dreamy bathrooms to cocktails kits also a farewell gift of a freshly baked cookie. A selection of room upgrades is available for a supplement.
Equal attention is given to the amenities you'll enjoy throughout the hotel. From the tennis courts to the fitness centre to the spa. And the restaurants are exceptional. Each has its own look and style; each will tempt you with some of the best flavours Mauritian gastronomy has to offer.
This really is a resort where your needs come first. So make the most of your stay; make the most of Mauritius.

This was our honeymoon (Laurie family) and we were not disappointed, as we made some lovely memories
We are very sorry that we have taken so long to write this review as our holiday ended just as covid kicked in.
We have to say that we felt happy and relaxed throughout our holiday and the staff were friendly and kind and always there to help from the minute we arrived.
Our room was clean and spacious and it has to be said we had a small issue with our room and this was dealt with Immediately and professionally...
We had regularly top ups of drinks in our Fridge in our room each day.
The beach , pool and activities were well manned and staff checked we was happy and it needed drinks.
I enjoyed the Sport centre which offered all activities , I loved the yoga as the sun rose and water aerobics.
Ambre food was very varied and had a good choice , breakfast was really special and so fresh and enjoyable.
Each night there was some entertainment to look forward to and we could relax and watch some dancing singing or a band . We really enjoyed the quiet corner of the spa and we adored the treatments. We must thank in particular raiksha (sorry If we spelt this wrong ) she was sweet, funny , kind and had a good sense of humour.
I must salute this hotel for how they dealt with covid , as they remained professional and had a smile on their face even when we knew that things were changing in the world. They were quick to move guests to protect us all and keep tourists together in one hotel
Thank you sooo much Ambre we missed some tours did to covid, but we will return to see you in a heart beat . ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Arrived at the Ambre , first thing that I noticed was this huge pool and outlook to the sea. The walk to the room was like paradise , people relaxing and soaking up the sun around the pool, past the bar area of which there is a few , through lush vegetation , pasted the TI-Bar and folk playing a game of volleyball. Very well positioned near the bar.
The room was ground floor and about 30 meters to the beach and water...
It was spacious , with a large shower . Very simple layout if I can that , suited us , to give us the beach feel and not worry about sand or wet costume on the floor. Very comfortable bed. Bar fridge which was stocked everyday if you on the full package. Must say it was something we did not raid very often as we were not in the room during the day. A choice of restaurants to have lunch or dinner. Depends on what you want. We did a round robin everyday trying them out and to be honest was not hungry at lunch after late breakfast.
You could relax at various points, should you want to use the cocoon, it comes with a surcharge for the day. Drinks served all day at the waterside. Lovely long walks along the beach and beautiful sunrises to see.
Great venue for those wanting to take their vows. 5 weddings while we were there. Cake , music the works. Dinner very intimate on the beach or at the pool area , there is a special place to dine , likewise the seafood restaurant was very popular.
Afternoon tea was served , did it a few times , however gave it a miss due to just had lunch and tried to watch the weight. Um not with the various of cocktails around.
Certainly would suggest you pay a little extra and go for the full package . Once you there, the holiday starts and no need to worry about the wallet or the bill at the end of the dream holiday.
For those wanting the SPA , right there and golf players, excellent golf course to play on. Those who enjoy activities , every day the hotel puts on various exercises you can join in or none sport like designing fruit and vegetable. Great area for safe sailing or two man canoe boats. There is a glass boat to go to the reef and see the fish.
Walk or cycle to the village or talk a walk along the beach and swim while on your way to the village and its shops.
As we hit the virus, the hotel was excellent in taking the precautions and having hand sanitizer everywhere. The staff were great and friendly.
Best for us, it was ADULT only . No children which is great as adults can let their hair down and relax and have fun.
Tip - before you go get aqua shoes , not a must but does help if you walk a lot and go into the walk along the coastline.
Excellent Wi FI all around the resort . Thank you World Leisure Holidays for arranging everything and making it a very memorable 60th birthday .
Negative side ? TOO SHORT A STAY. 5 days was too short.
First of all do yourself a favour, and DON’T read the terrible reviews on here! (I did and it scared me a little) after just getting back from the most amazing honeymoon I don’t have a bad word to say! We arrived after a night flight and was taken to an air conned bar for a refreshing drink and a cold flannel we were checked in, we were gifted a honeymoon meal at their beach restaurant so we’re asked to fill out a menu then we were taken to our room being informed of things about the hotel on our way!! We got to the room with gifts on the bed and a bottle of bubbly! So big thanks to the reception team! (And also guest services! They went out of their way at each request and it was never any bother!
The food at the Italian was incredible! Recommend the pizza at lunch and there for an evening meal when you fancy a 3 course meal!! (Book at breakfast!) Buffet food was good each morning they had everything to offer! Lunch was great! Again everything to offer! Evenings were different themed each night, a lot of people moaned about the food as there’s a lot of curry but come on, you’re in a country who eat curry! Food at the beach restaurant was lovely! We enjoyed the Indian Ocean fish platter! Staff there were also really lovely and looked after us well!
Throughout the whole stay the stay was amazing and we’d like to say a big thank you to all of the ones we had the pleasure of spending 10 days with:
Kenny @ breakfast! He made me the most amazing iced coffee on my first morning! And continued to go out of his way to say good morning to us even though we weren’t sat in his area!
Ali and Ashvin on the bar!
Kishan @ the Italian restaurant! Who looked after us several times at lunch!! This guy is a credit to the hotel! Nedeem at the Italian who went out of his way at the on our last day! It was quite busy due to lots of rain but he kept our beers topped up!!
Ram, who was our housekeeper! This guy was always happy! Greeted you with the warmest welcome day in, day out! He made our room up different each day with different flowers!!
Also Chris on the beach, selling the 5 island boat trips, if you do anything durning your stay BOOK THIS! The day was the best day of our holiday!! We were taken out on a speedboat and got to feed monkeys, see a waterfall, 5 different islands (obviously!) with a fab lunch on the beach! We drank our monies worth in ‘coffee’ the best Mauritian RUM!! so that alone was worth the price of this trip! We met some lovely friends on this boat trip who also made the stay incredible!
Thank you for this amazing stay! Thanks a lot for the upgrade and the welcome amenities. Incredible view. Perfect spot! Dolce vita restaurant is a must go! Food is delicious and staff is very dedicated to service. Nice and attentive staff from reception, restaurant and housekeeping. Great place to stay and live the Mauritian experience.
Returned on the 18th March after a wonderful holiday. We had a warm welcome from Ananda. We had nice rooms, simply but clean and well serviced by Diksha...
We found the Indigo restaurant to be wonderful, fantastic choice of food, never got repetitive. Big shout out to Ashish. Always came to find us and ask if we needed anything. Lovely to talk to. The bars were good and the amazing Soobash kept us well watered. He made amazing drinks and went out of his way to look after us. Would not hesitate to saty at this hotel again. We left as the hotel was wrapping up due to the Covid 19 virus. We felt lucky to have had our holiday and get home safe. So worried for the staff and this lovely island. You are in our thoughts. Stay safe.
