The reason we have given a rating of Very Good is because the Mauritian staff have been amazing & do go beyond to make our stay a great experience - ‘hospitality, warm welcome, smile & humour’. As we walked in we were impressed with the welcome & induction by the member of staff on duty (02.11.23).
The hotel itself had the ‘wow’ factor for us in terms of Spa & Wellness. Great environment, architecture & design. The second day my husband & I had one treatment each. Yolena did an amazing job. Best treatment I have ever had. My husband’s feedback on his treatment with Vanessa is all very positive, relaxed & professional. We enjoyed the music. Great singers - unfortunately there was a lot of noise from a big group of different ages, some teenagers. It did spoil the appreciation of such great singers. The service from the mauritian waiters/waitresses were fantastic - we were looked after so well. They made us feel special. Renu, Arvin (Manager), barman were all so dedicated to their job, and doing their very best. No disrespect to the newly-imported staff - they are trying but sadly the language is a great barrier, which is a detriment to the service all tourists received from Le Jadis. We loved the creole lunches prepared by Anna, and it was to expectation. The one disappointment for us was the food in the main restaurant. It was very poor. So unexpected from a 5-star hotel. The first meal - beef sirloin was tough & lots of fat, and unedible (it was returmed & changed to a different meal on the menu). Second meal was Red Thai chicken curry, which did not look nor tasted like red thai chicken. The 3rd & 4th meal were, basically, buffet,!!! The very basic of presenting food was missing - hot food was served on cold plates. In fact, there is no facility for warming plates. Unbelievable of a 5-star hotel!! One other factor which needs to be mentioned - we chose Le Jadis because of the Spa & Wellness, and calming environment, quiet & peaceful. We were quite shocked that Le Jadis finds the need to take groups for parties, i.e. teenagers celebrating birthday, creating non-stop screaming, shouting in the swimming pool for the whole afternoon. This does contradict the very essence of Le Jadis’ philosophy on calm, quiet and peaceful. Please note that this review is based on our very recent Experience at Le Jadis but it is also against a benchmark of all other 4-star & 5-star hotels where we have been over the years and even post-covid.
On the positive front I do sincerely hope that top management can make a success of what is supposed to be a 5-star hotel & stay true to their philosophy. The staff are the biggest asset. We take away the great smile, hospitality & ‘accueil chaleureux’ of the staff.
We went to Le Jadis for a birthday celebration. We sat at the restaurant by the beach. The setting was great, the staff was caring and efficient. We all agreed the food was delicious. A great experience!
A fantastic place to relax surrounded by stunning views. The food is a delighte and the chefs are there on hand to cater for your dietary needs. All the resort's staff are charming courteous and go out their way to help your stay a relaxing one.You want a corner of the Indian Ocean that is simply paradise then this is definitely the place
If this was a 4 star hotel I would have rated higher, but Le Jadis is definitely not a 5 star hotel.
The hotel itself, although quite small, is not too bad. Food is OK, but not great. Service is extremely lacking for a 5 star hotel.
We spend one night there for a birthday and I’m glad we we didn’t spend more. We were there on a Saturday night and the place was a bit dead - no show, no animation. There were some live singers that did a half decent job, but not Saturday night material.
Our room was magnificent - I cannot say a single bad word about our room! That was by far the saving grace for this trip.
Activities in the hotel are quite lacking, the boat house is tiny and there’s barely a beach.
I’ve been once, don’t think I’ll go again.
Le Jadis should be a 5 star wellness hotel. Unfortunately it is neither of those things. It is a very old and skanky place. The room is quite dirty, as well as the hotel corridors. In the room there was much mold in one of the cabinets, which had a bad smell. There was a quite huge sticky stain right next to the bed the whole 4 days we were there. In the corridors are always dirty dishes, sometimes for days and with garbage and flies on it. The beach is NOTHING like on the pictures, it's a very small beach with almost only rocks. You can't really bath there, so if you wan't to swim i really can't recommend this beach. The breakfast was also one of the worst i've ever seen. There was not much selection, it was not well arranged and the food looked like it was laying there for many days. The kitchen at the breakfast buffet was very dirty and the stove (where you could get your eggs) was almost black and greasy and very unsanitary, i would have never eaten anything from this stove. The spa is also just a joke. You have to bring your own towel, there is nothing to drinks, the jacuzzi was very cold and the sauna is broken since a whole year and can't be used. Maybe the hotel was good 10 years ago, but it's very bad maintained and is starting to fall apart. We would never come again and were very disappointed, especially because it's quite expensive.
