Grand Baie

Located right in the heart of Trou aux Biches - one of the most beautiful beaches of the island. It is close to the village of TrioletThe SAKOA is a small haven which unfurls across its 16 rooms each with a different style and personality but all inspired by the same passion for refinement. The whole place exudes a subtle balance achieved by associating discreet natural materials to brown and grey backgrounds enhanced by bright colours. This boutique hotel possesses all the assets for a successful holiday namely - a restaurant facing the swimming pool and the sea where you can enjoy specialities with a Mauritian flavour - a bar where you can discover exhilarating cocktails. Of the 16 rooms there are 14 standard rooms- 6 with sea views and 8 looking out onto the gardens. The standard rooms are en-suite and spacious - 55 sq mtrs - and comfortable and each has its own terrace. All rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with a hairdryer - safe - television and telephone - as well as a kitchenette. Up to 2 children can share parents accommodation and interconnecting rooms are also available. There are also two suites including a romantic Honeymoon suite each with direct access to the beach and views of breathtaking sunsets. The Senior Beach Suite also has a mezzanine that can accommodate 2 beds for children.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Horrible Service

Horrible service from the SPA manager Sabrina and all the staff who answered inbound call. I was even told that no solution can be proposed though they failed in completing a booking I did one week back. Real lack of customer relationship skills, bad SPA mgt and would never recommend this hotel.

Excellent choice for a beachside stay

We had a delightful stay at the Sakoa, well managed and run by a very professional team. Well-maintained gardens running down to the beach, spacious bedrooms with good yet unobtrusive service. Delicious food (we booked half-board and didn't regret it) and they were flexible about the lunch offer...

Activities such as snorkelling offered by the hotel and near to diving centres.

A fantastic, peaceful, friendly boutique hotel

Review by T4169ACnicolas Padstow, United Kingdom

We absolutely loved our stay at Sakoa. The hotel is small so you receive such a warm and personal service, the staff always remember your orders and are friendly and polite, from reception to restaurant to housekeeping to security staff. We paid for half board and didn't regret it - 4 courses were offered on a fixed menu each evening; an 'amuse bouche', a starter, a main and a dessert, with a choice of 2 main courses, usually one fish and one meat. And it was excellent food, really tasty, local, different dishes each night...

I have a dairy allergy and the team were really good with recognising how to adapt dishes for me and asked me each evening what I would like for dessert! The room was exceptionally clean and a great size with a mini fridge, kettle and local ground coffee (topped up daily) and coffee percolator included. The hotel offers a turn-down service so it felt like there was a lot of attention to detail and a really thoughtful and thorough service. The room we had was advertised as a 'garden view' but we could see the sea from our balcony too so that was a nice surprise. The road was a little noisy if sat on the balcony, but not disruptive, and you weren't aware of it from inside the room, the balcony had table and chairs and a couple of armchairs plus candles for the evening and we thorough enjoyed sitting in this space reading and watching the local birds in the garden. The hotel has a private beach with parasols and sunbeds and a dedicated swimming area (the lagoon is quite busy with boats) they also provide beach towels for your use. Watching the sunsets on the beach each evening really was special. There are a few beach vendors who approach you but it never felt too hassled or unsafe at all. It is very well placed to visit local attractions and the hotel will help you organise taxis if you don't hire a car. I also had a massage in the wellness spa which was absolutely incredible! We would absolutely recommend staying at Sakoa, a really peaceful, beautiful hotel with wonderful staff who helped to make our fortnight stay very special.

It was a nice stay thanks to the location right on the beach

The hotel manager took care of my concerns competently and immediately. The cleaning lady fulfilled all my wishes. Great praise. Therefore, the otherwise nice stay with a few flaws was perfect. Thank You
