Disappointing

Review by hillyPoole_Dorset Poole, Dorset

We were really looking forward to our trip to Mauritius having changed the date twice due to covid. We had a great flight with Emirates and arrived on 8/10/21 full of excitement. Arriving at the hotel I felt a little put off by the shabby reception area, smeared glass tables and tatty paintwork, but I could see the incredible view and was optimistic...

On the way to our room I noticed how the grounds looked lovely, tropical and very well cared for. Arriving at our room I noticed the dirty tatty paintwork on the door and on entering I was surprised at the well worn appearance, but the view was amazing. Having had a chance to look around we were shocked at how tatty the furnishings were and decided to ask for a different room. The staff obliged and we were moved to a room with no view, (having paid for a deluxe ocean view), with a busy road behind us. We were not at all happy with this and asked to be moved again, this time we were given another ocean view room which was a little better, but still not of a great standard. Unfortunately, whilst we were having issues over our room there were also issues over the food, Buffett only for the whole of our stay, often not hot enough and of a very poor standard. After 3 days of complaining to the hotel and our travel company (Blue Bay Travel, who told us to discuss with the hotel!), we decided to draw a line under it and just enjoy the location or we ran the risk of ruining our whole holiday. There was only one Buffett restaurant and nothing else - not what was quoted in the resort information. We ended up eating out a lot which added considerable cost to our trip.

The positives - the location is lovely, beautiful sunsets, lovely helpful staff who are happy to try and help in any way they can, but short if fitting new bathrooms and redecorating, changing the menu/dining options, there wasn’t much they could do. We felt that the hotel needs to be totally refurbished- it does not fit with a 3 Star European standard in terms of decor/facilities, dining. We would have been happy to have limited facilities if it had been tidy (well decorated snd spotless).

Great two weeks

Review by kevin r Southampton, United Kingdom

We booked this smaller hotel as we have done the big hotel with hundreds of guests and wanted something quieter. First impression was the view of the Indian ocean from the lobby area which is fabulous and draws you straight to the sea.we were impressed with our room with the most stunning sea views of the beaches each side of the hotel and the best unobscured view of every sunset ( room 245) is the best room in the hotel for this without a doubt. Food was ok but could be a bit same old same old but the staff and managers were fantastic and would cook us what ever we wanted with notice...

The hotel is a bit tired and needs investment and could be made a lot better .The staff were fantastic ,polite and consistently asked if you were happy or if there was anything they could make our stay better. The only person who came across as rude and arrogant ,was the English barman.Totally out of sync with the rest of the staff ! The pool was clean and gardens well kept.for a 3 star hotel ,this was an excellent stay and will definitely return. Thank you to The manager and his staff for a wonderful stay.
