We (family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 kids age 8 and 10) had the best hollyday ever at Telfair Heritage. Beautiful hotel, wonderful service and hospitality and lovely activities and restaurants. Can highly recommend this to anyone!!! Will be coming back❤️
First of all let me apologise as it is not the normal review we would like to give.
Pretty much everything was shutdown due to the imminent closure of Mauritius Airport due to the coronavirus epidemic. We were not due to stay here but were accommodated as the sister resort (Heritage Awali) shut down earlier and only managed to stay for 2 nights.
Firstly about the resort, amazing rooms and a fabulous sea view, they were large and extremely well appointed. The one open restaurant provided us with sumptuous breakfast, dinner and tea...
We didnt get to use any of the facilities as they had all been shutdown but the whole point was the resort remained open to provide a safe place to stay whilst return flight arrangements were being made.
It was all a bit sureal as we were left in this beautiful resort with only 6 other couples as guests.
Now as I say I cannot give to much more of an insight into the facilities but what I can say how warm, friendly and accommodating the staff were. Despite probably having concerns about their own immediate futures nothing was to much for them, They organised the seamless transfer from the Heritage Awali, put us in an Ocean View Suite and even kept us fed and watered. Indeed they even used used the company vehicle to take us to the airport.
Let me thank all the staff who all went above and beyond. We hope things return to normal for everyone at the resort and hope that all stay safe and well during these uncertain times and we get back to sampling the delights ofMauritius in the near future.
We spent a wonderful week at Heritage Le Telfair. The property is beautifully maintained and there's a great choice of dining options, from romantic dinners on the beach, to an amazing creperie for indulgent afternoon treats. The pool area is perfect for relaxing and there are two fantastic beaches with lots of water sport options to keep children and adults entertained, including kayaking and paddle boarding...
The rooms are elegant and spacious, and we loved our outdoor monsoon shower and view over the lawns. The staff really made our stay, and couldn't do more to help us enjoy our time in Mauritius. Highly recommended.
Le Telfair is located in a beautiful region of Mauritius - and the wonderful staff really make the most of this to give you a holiday full of incredible memories.
The beach is clean white sand on a gentle crystal clear turquoise blue reef which makes the water very shallow and safe for young children. There are plenty of sunbeds dotted all around and two large swimming pools (that I used) The restaurants have a nice variation with the C beach club offering healthy options, juices etc alongside an ice-cream parlour. Ginger has delicious sushi and Thai dishes...
The seafood is delicious - giant prawns were a hit. Beach bars offered usual burgers, club sandwiches, salads etc and they had said they were abut to introduce some more traditional Mauritian dishes. The Main restaurant for buffet breakfast had a wide selection of hot and cold food with gluten free, dairy free etc options available.
The rooms are beautiful - modern, clean and spacious - big bathrooms, large balconies and views over the beautiful blue sea. Nice touches with the beach bags, treats etc
I initially visited for a wellness trip (Just before lockdown) - and took advantage of what they have on offer (there is a huge amount of activities - some free, some paid - for all generations including flower arranging, cooking, fitness, wellness, art, waterspouts the list goes on)
Some resorts touch on the basics in a spa, the massage, mani/pedi, a couple of yoga sessions. But this was on another level. They take you back to nature with the leafy surroundings and the holistic menu, rather than another sterile spa environment - and I felt all the more rested for it.
A hike up Le Morne for a breathing lesson was a memory I will never forget. The views are out of this world, just picture perfect and our guide Ravin was so patient. I also went forest bathing with him and he he took us to a hidden waterfall. It was something so simple but the tips he gave us I definitely took back home and carried on when I was spinning out with stress.
I had my first ever Reiki Session with Reiki Master Priyanka. I was curious about and had no expectations - it blew me away. Whether you believe in that style of wellness or not I would highly recommend trying a session with her - she is so calm and patient. Sunset yoga outdoors by the chateau was very special, we also dined there one evening (you can stay in the master suite there which a lot of honeymooners choose to do) and the giant trees with twinkling lights hanging from the branches made for a wonderful experience. It was such a shame they had to cancel the wellness festival in May because after what I experienced I imagine they would do this very well. Hopefully it will be rescheduled soon.
There were many families here and all generations were catered for. I have two young children so I checked out the kids club and it was large and well staffed with lots of shaded spaces for when it got really hot. It accommodated babies to teenagers with outdoor games a separate shaded paddling pool, chickens, arts and crafts areas, games, tennis / football / indoor computer games. There was a daily list of what activities there were on offer which was worth checking out. it also includes a sundowner on the beach each evening.
Surrounding areas - its a drive to visit the local town and there isn't much there - a couple of food places which locals go to which are good to see but you're not going to spend much time there, there isn't anything much walking distance apart from their sister hotel. But then again if you are there to relax, you don't really need much more than what the resort provides.
We went on a trip to the rum distilleries and the coloured sands and waterfall which was worth the day out. And do get up to Le Morne - it will take your breathe away. I'll be booking to go back as soon as I can!
We were back for the 4th time so we really love this place. Weather was not as good as on previous occasions when we went in Oct-Nov but that cannot be blamed on the hotel. The time we were able to spend on the golf course were good, if wet
