The hotel is located right next to Koggala beach near the Sri Lankan port of Galle, which is home to the UNESCO world heritage listed Dutch Fort and the Dutch Reform Church. Koggala is a small beach village with its own cultural centre in the form of the fascinating Museum of Folk, Art and Culture. Guests may enjoy taking a boat trip on the lagoon and Kogggala Lake to see the surrounding small islands, famous for their fantastic bird watching. Its proximity to the picturesque Lake Koggala means that guests have the opportunity of coming to the hotel by seaplane, which is a truly impressive experience. The hotel is located some 140 kilometres from Colombo International Airport (CMB). The train station is some 10 km away.
The hotel, which was recently opened, is located near Galle and borrows its style from the ancient Dutch Fort, but puts a modern, 21st century spin on it. The hotel comprises a total of 49 rooms. It has a lobby with hotel safe and currency exchange facility. Bar and dining facilities also feature. Room and laundry services are on offer. Parking facilities are available for guests arriving by car.

This marks my second visit to The Fortress in Sri Lanka, and my love for this hotel remains undiminished. The staff here aren't just friendly; they feel like family. The food continues to be consistently delicious, and the spacious, luxurious rooms, while still impressive, could use a bit of maintenance or an upgrade.
The pool and beach are fantastic, offering a great escape, and the spa deserves special mention. We frequented it almost daily, appreciating the professionalism and warm welcome of the staff. The overall hospitality and quality of The Fortress exemplify the best of Sri Lanka. Though it comes at a price, every penny spent here is undoubtedly worth it.
Unique luxury experience..everything you want.... nature, excellent service, clean and tidy accomodation, interior and finest food... super service by Janaka and Dimuthu... recommend this place to anyone without any hesitation.... and will definitely visit again...
from the time of welcome, till they accompanied us to our rooms, the staff were so friendly and knew how to keep a guest at ease. the rooms are neatly arranged and all amenities and refill is done on time. food is very nicely selected. I felt that the hotel guessed our preferences personally. Safety is very well monitored because the moment we got to the beach, the guide kept an eye till all guests were safely back to the hotel. my family enjoyed the stay and look forward to spending the next vacation. Thank you GM and Asela for making us feel special.
Resort is very scenic with beautiful views. Rooms are very spacious and clean. Staff are very good and friendly..Views infront of resort are very picturesque.. Beach is lil rocky difficult to swim. Food is good.
The hotel is beautiful! The pool, the outside. And the room was pretty good too, the bed comfortable and cozy. The staff were helpful and friendly. Especially Aselan, Khan, Saman and Rohan. The biggest issue was the food. That is what made the experience subpar. Almost all the food was Mediocre. From the buffet to the a la crate, whether it be the fish or the Indian food. I hope the FnB team works on this issue and makes it a better experience for future guests.
