Fish Market in a good location.
The location of this hotel- the price and the rooms including bathrooms are nice and most importantly very clean. We had booked this hotel for a couple of hours before our flight back to India. The check in process was terrible - group after group were checking in. They had less staff to cope up with this kind of crowd which resulted in delay in check in though we went to our hotel after 5 pm. In room dining closes at 10, at about 8:30 pm continuously called for in room dining service - No answer several times, called someone at reception only to hear “ sorry very busy, come down and order your food”. What kind of service is this anyway? If I come down and order my food what’s the purpose of in room dining service ? Finally managed to speak with someone and our food arrived - worst pizza ever. Go to this hotel to try the world’s worst margarita pizza ( yes they managed to screw that one up as well ) . During our short stay even the fire alarm went off. No one came to inform us that all is well, we had to go around asking people. When we were checking out around 11:30 pm a group of hooligans who were drinking and making merry on their 8th floor bar were creating ruckus in front of the hotel. All in all I didn’t like the vibe of the hotel - AT ALL. The location is convenient though, just next to old Dutch hospital. Late night the people hanging out in front of this hotel was kind of shady as well.
Central Hotel
Fairway Colombo is in a great location close to the Dutch Hospital and its numerous eateries and walking distance to One Galle Face mall and the Pettah Market, We were upgraded to a suite which was plush and spacious with all the comforts and amenities for a comfortable stay. The only complaint we had was the breakfast on the roof top which was disappointing accompanied by poor service. Otherwise a lovely stay
Excellent Fairway Colombo
Excellent place to stay in the city.. very friendly staff .. very helpful.. food was all good.. centrally located so one can connect to city shopping areas. Lovely and safe place to stay.. lovely rooms too
Poor service
Fairway Colombo requires guests to fill out a declaration during check-in that in case any damage to the linens or bedsheet they will take penalty. However, during check-out, they make us wait to ensure everything is in order. Unfortunately, their service level is quite poor. When they are expecting these things from guests they should ensure the top most service levels are provided to them as well. The restaurant, Dutch Pub, is in partnership with Fairway Colombo, but they provide even worse service. We opted for buffet by paying 3200 LKR but the food on the counter was not refilled and after waiting for 20 mins the staff told it's over plus the staff did not attend us, no water was served, tissues, cutlery,plates were not there we called them multiple times then they attended us. The service manager was disinterested in our feedback. Overall pathetic experience.
One of my favorite Colombo hotels
I chose Fairway Colombo during my visit to Colombo on October 2023. The main reason is always the fantastic location. It is walking distance to many of the meetings I have in WTC, Port City, Kingsbury, Hilton and others. There is fantastic restaurants and spa walking distance from the hotel. It is very easy to get vehicles. The rooms area perfect for business stay and even stay with families.
