Jetwing Lighthouse is located atop a hillock, overlooking the blue waters of the Indian Ocean in Galle. This elegant hotel is the ultimate tropical retreat, in a region rich in culture and colonial history, which offers authentic simplicity as well as warm Sri Lankan hospitality. The hotel is situated along the breath-taking western coastline of Sri Lanka, and one of the highlights of a stay here is appreciating the view of the amazing Sri Lankan sunset while enjoying a cool drink on the hotel terrace.
My family and I stayed there for couple nights. Delicious food and super nice to staff. My children loved the Beach which is surrounded by rocks...
What keeps it from 5 star is because the room we checked in at the first time was not clean, bugs under the table and in the bathtub. Then the moved us to second floor. Also every time when we trying to use the telephone in the room to call someone and nobody answered. Besides this everything is good.
This iconic hotel, another creation of the legendary architect Geoffrey Bawa, is located in close proximity to the town of Galle in the South of Sri Lanka and by the side of the main road to Colombo. It borders the sea, unfortunately most of its beach frontage is rocky (yet adding colour to the hotel) with a little stretch of sandy area. With foreign tourists yet unseen due to the Corona pandemic, the hotel has opened its doors to the local clientele at concessionary rates, while strictly observing medical guidelines...
The hotel has 78 spacious rooms, all facing the sea, and 7 suites. Each room has a balcony (and covered patio for ground floor rooms). Two 'infinity' swimming pools and a very large lawn filled the grounds. The property is under Priyanthika, a hands-on manageress, who greeted us with a hand-written welcome note - quite a touching and unusual gesture. I must commend Alwis, the steward at the restaurant, who took pains to see that my wife got the special meals that she had to take due to illness.
I have stayed more than 30 places above 4 star rating, but this was a one of two places where actually i am hesitate to rate since this rating system is not appropriate to rate a such a amazing property .it was a such a amazing experinece.if i say like this there are two places in srilanka which is like sun and moon, father and mother, what are the resorts come up to your mind?yes they are jetwing light house and heritance kandalama Yes this is absolutely amazing place.hospitality is at it max.food presentation, arrangement was perfect.it was mouthwatering delicious . Accomodation is ultra laxurious.bed is huge, cozy and soft.bathroom is huge and amnities are modernized and sofisticated.it is unique and it is worth to taste that uniqueness.room is well organized. Staff was very friendly.well decilined.it feel like you at your home. Environment is well maintained.beautiful.tranquilizes you. And finally most important thing.it is a jeffry bawas masterpiece.he converted rock in to majical resort.there are lot of modernized 5 star hotels in galle but this is exceptional and they are uncomparable this in all aspects specially with colonial architectural design with mordenized amnities and classical tranquilized atmosphere they provided with there heartiest hospitality. It was a real experience that taste a beer in the evening at main restaurant with breathtaking sea view So thank you jetwing lighthouse for your warm hospitality.we will definitely comeback again.
Overall a pleasant stay. Location is perfect as close to galle fort and city. Staff were friendly...
Rooms were comfortable. However, needs to improve on small details of the room . Some amenities were not there. Certain doors wont close properly. Ideal if the room service is bit more swift.
Sunday Buffets in Galle have definitely got to be at the much upgraded & beautifully set Cardamon restaurant at Jetwing Lighthouse , Galle. The new Food & beverage/restaurant Manager manager ( Nishantha )has definitely had a massive impact on the quality & selections of the food. The meats are perfectly roasted, the selection of Sri Lanka varieties just prefect without overdoing it, and being too spicy The deserts are still looking for improvement as many restaurants in Sri Lanka try to create classic European desserts without too much attention to the details, however im sure they will get there with this management team
