Poovar

The Isola Di Cocco translates as the Island of Coconuts. And sure enough, the resort is covered with coconut trees. It gives a wonderfully green, leafy quality and ensures that nature never feels at arm's length when you're exploring Kerala. The long fronds also give plenty of dappled shade too. The Isola Di Cocco is wonderfully placed at the heart of the resort. Encircled on one side by the Poovar River, and beyond, the Arabian Sea – the hotel is very much in tune with the natural habitat. So staying here is a tranquil and restful experience.

On the bank of the river Poovar, the Isola Di Cocco provides wonderful accommodation;

Unless you knew it was here, the Isola Di Cocco could come as something of a surprise. But here, amid the lush vegetation, encircled by water, there's another surprise – the hotel's private beach! Reachable via a 5-minute boat ride, it's the perfect place for an afternoon siesta, the gentle sounds of the water lulling you into a peaceful sleep.

Then back to the hotel – and a lap or two around the wonderful outdoor swimming pool will refresh you in time for dinner. There are three wonderful restaurants at the Isola Di Cocco, as well as a pool bar. Another feature of the Isola Di Cocco Hotel is its Ayurveda Centre. Ayurveda is an Indian therapy – whether for relaxation or the treatment of aches and pains - that can help anyone to relax and unwind. Yoga sessions are also available to really free up your mind and body, and there's also an excellent health and fitness centre too.

Whether you spend more time working out or relaxing, you'll want a comfortable room to 'come home' to. The Classic Pavilion rooms at the Isola Di Cocco Hotel certainly fit the bill. Set in discrete little clusters, they're wonderfully self-contained. Again it evokes that wonderful sense of being 'at one with nature'.

Carved furniture maintains the rustic feel, while the addition of TV, mini fridge, safe, phone and tea/coffee making facilities ensure that you'll have everything you need right on hand.

Do make good use of the balcony/veranda – surely an al fresco cup of tea is the very best way to start the day in India? Lake view rooms are also available for a supplement.

It's easy to feel at one with nature when you spend your days in and around Isola Di Cocco Hotel. And beyond this little oasis of calm, there's a wider world of wonders waiting to be discovered...

The Full board package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. You'll also be treated to 4 bottles of local beer per day per room & 3 bottles of soft drinks/mineral water, soda, tea/coffee 10am-10pm, selected snacks with FREE beer.

Well laid out, efficient service

Review by TravellerArup Bengaluru, India

It's a well laid out expansive kind of a resort. We didn't stay there but only dropped in for lunch after finishing our boating at Poovar. The restaurant area was neatly laid out but had a kind of a bit of disinterested look due to the extremely low occupancy. That's not to say that our experience was bad...

The view from the restaurant area is quite beautiful. The portions are quite large and the service was efficient. I would like to go again and experience the resort in its entirety.

Everyone should try to get a stay in this hotel!

The morning walk at this hotel is the best! The resort is widespread with multiple recreational activities & halls such as yoga hall, tree house, swimming pool , indoor games, etc. Rooms are very spacious with all basic amenities. Dinner & breakfast was very nice.

Great place for our family gathering

Review by Susan D Bengaluru, India

We were a family group of 20 who stayed at the resort on the nights of 26th and 27th of December 21. We had 5 rooms in one building which had a decent sized common area where we could meet up and play board games and chat. The remainder were in adjoining rooms near the lagoon which was a short walk away. The buffet meals were all very good - plenty of choice & quantity and included salads and also fresh fruit salads at lunch and dinner :-) The service was also good...

We had a couple of elderly folk with us and the restaurant staff were very cooperative in getting meals to the cottage for the ones who couldn't walk to the dining hall...so all were looked after (though some elderly people would find the step down to the bathrooms and the open air bathrooms challenging)....but our group all managed and enjoyed. The swimming poor was well maintained and has a beautiful outlook. the sunsets are gorgeous. Beds were very comfortable, and many of the rooms quite spacious.
The rooms are all in the lovely traditional keralan style, set amongst lush gardens. Some rooms could do with some maintenance, but there were no major issues, and I thought it was fairly good value for money considering the high demand between Christmas & new year. We did a short boat trip up the backwaters which was delightful...lots of birds and greenery everywhere.
In terms of covid safety - the place is perfect for distancing, and restaurant is well ventilated. Staff wore masks when serving... If your family are working from home and take covid precautions like we do...do take a visit and enjoy a great time.

Very good place to relax

We stayed in a room in a heritage cottage, it was spacious with all need facilities inside: kettle with tea and coffee, fridge, water, sitting area. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and overall it was a very pleasant experience. The staff was polite and helped with all questions, food was also tasty...

The swimming pool was clean and there were no people. All the territory was very beautiful with plenty of blooming flowers, birds, and green corners. Loved being there and will plan to come again.

Definitely recommended!
