While the hotel is beautiful and the rooms/amenities are nice, I found my stay pretty disappointing from a customer service perspective.
Wait times at the bar restaurant (Trophy Room) downstairs we’re a minimum of 30-45 minutes for food, even one time landing at over an hour. The food was okay, but hardly worth the wait...
The phone lines were down one afternoon/evening and I couldn’t reach anyone for room service for 45 minutes (to be fair, they did inform us in a letter I believe that I missed after getting in late one night), went downstairs for something at the bar and had to wait an hour for food.
I booked a COVID test at the desk for 150 AED and the date was misbooked, then when I “missed” the appointment, I wasn’t informed. I went to the desk the night before to confirm my appointment for the next morning (since they didn’t call to confirm line they said they would) and it was confirmed. Waited an hour for the test… nobody came, so I called the desk and they said there was no appointment but they could have another nurse come 30 minutes later for an additional 100 AED. Next to no apologies from the staff, but now I’ve sat in my hotel an extra hour and a half that was completely unnecessary and am late for my plans today.
Looking forward to changing hotels shortly and exploring another region. I’ve stayed here 10 nights for a business trip and I just expected more, especially given the length of my stay.
I’d just suggest to management you up your front desk game a bit because long wait times and subpar service isn’t what you expect when you step into such a beautiful hotel.
Positive Feedback - Mimi was an excellent masseuse, ensured that I was comfortable in the room and was mindful to ask on the pressure I needed and areas of focus for the massage.
Negative Feedback - The Spa reception should have informed us in advance that as we have access to all the amenities, the sauna and steam room at The Spa is out of service, therefore we would need to access the steam room and sauna at the gym area. Do not expect tranquility and peace here...
This space is shared by all the staff as their changing room together with all the gym users. Expect a lot lockers banging open and shut. The steam room is in dire need of a good clean and renovation at the least. The floor was slimy = health and safety issue.
Secondly, the reception staff should have informed us that there are separate lockers at The Spa rather than using the lockers at the gym area = again a shared space with plenty of footfall.
For AED 380 for 90 mins massage, it would have been nice if we were able to use a functioning steam room at The Spa itself where it was much more quiet and relaxing.
We had several issues in the hotel, from checkin, short staffed and note trained. overbooked, restaurant had no capacity for guest, roof leaking, pool was closed, 7-9th floor closed under repair. the breakfast was over capacity servers needed help
Good location, comfortable beds, professional front desk team, awful service ( in room, maintenance… broken tv took them 24 hours to change it, room service they don’t answer and if they did took them ages to deliver ur order) and u really need to clean ur windows, what the point to take a room with a view with dirty glass????breakfast need more varieties, really disappointed it wasn’t really 5 stars experience as we were expected.
Came to the Fairmont for a relaxing time with friends and found anything but. There is absolutely nothing vegan on the menu, a margarita pizza is not acceptable as an only vegetarian offering. I was told by the kitchen they could make a vegetarian club with peppers, mushrooms, egg, cheese and the salad with a side of fries...
2 hours passes and finally our lunch arrives freezing cold, the vegetarian club is tomato lettece and cucumber, no sign egg or cheese or a vegetable even. The food was so cold two had to be sent back, two girls had to eat theirs as they had their massages to go for. Another hour passes, the two plates came back up, this time a chicken club sandwich for the vegetarian...
After another half an hour a sandwich arrives once again no egg no cheese just salad in toasted bread this is beyond a joke. I was told I wasn't able to have anything brought in from the cafes downstairs or delivered. I was told it would take another half an hour to fry an egg.... And bring cheese.
I highly recommend this hotel/pool venue is avoided at all costs.
Utterly disgusting way to treat customers. Do not offer to make a sandwich you can not deliver
Bread Egg Peppers Mushroom Salad Bread
This isn't difficult, nor should it take nearly four hours
