Terrible service and food!

Review by Mobile38118021410 Belo Horizonte, MG

Was a terrible experience. All starts in the checkin, after almost 2 hours we get our keys. You can’t found a good place to eat after midnight....

the room service didn’t answer and after spent walk 15 minutes we found a a place that have a small buffet with vegetables and mashed potato. You pay a lot of money to receive a good treatment, and you need to pay double going out to have a decent food and treatment.

Never going back!

Not what we expected.

Review by Dennis424C

We went on a quick get away to Cancun 10/19-10/23 and decided to try a different resort. That's how we ended up at the Grand Oasis. What we didn't expect was all of the construction (jackhammer and welding) in the lobby of the Pyramid...

The first room we checked into had poor AC and when we changed rooms at 11 pm the second room was decent at best. I know you don't come to Cancun to stay in your room, but we still could only cool the room to about 75F at midnight, the toilet ran our entire stay told front desk 3x, and very little hot water if any. If you still choose this place be sure to get the VIP bands because they give you access to the only decent food at the resort. Make sure to get a pool towel by 5pm or you're SOL. All the "clubs" Coyote Loco, Havana Nights, and Kinky were closed. The Kinky had a show but you could barely call it that. They even shut down the "sports bar"...3) 32" TV's and a bar with no seats @ 11 pm during the last game of the ALCS and about 30 people in the "bar/ really a hall way entrance" ? (maybe they were Red Sox fans) The casino is a joke you'll have to pay for your drinks in there. The steakhouse was so poor we didn't even bother with the Benazuzu place and just went downtown. If you're a mask freak then this is the place for you! They were trying to get people to wear masks on the beach...LOL. I won't try to find other hotels in Cancun again and just stick with what I know.

Pros - Makitaco (if you like sushi). The Amstar Rep Johnathan is more in the know then any hotel staff so find him. Check-out was fast. The floor in the entrance from the pool/beach is clean. (Because for the 5 days we were there they had someone polishing that 400 sqft all day)

Cons - This place is just not a luxury resort. It's a decent beach hotel with a buffet and some cheap booze. (Kentucky Gentleman is not a premium liquor...it's what you find when you trip and fall and see under the bottom shelf at the bar. Paying for Jack Daniels because it's top shelf is hilarious. Construction everywhere and 1/3 of the cabanas on the beach are closed off because they are broken or aren't closed and still broken. Good luck with the only 2 elevators in the main Pyramid they just go up and down at their choice so get on and see how many stops you make before you get to the lobby. (Make a drinking game out of it each extra stop you have to do a shot of the cheap/premium liquor at the bar)

Tips - Don't let a few $100 bucks be the difference in a great experience and staying here. The pics are not true at all and believe the bad reviews not the fake ones that are sprinkled in.

If you still decide to stay here, bring a couple of masks and your patience!
