- Sunset Royal Beach Resort

The charming beach hotel is strategically located in the heart of the hotel zone in Cancun. It is surrounded by the most famous nightclubs in the city as well as several restaurants and shops. The hotel is located just 25 km from Cancun International Airport. Renovated in 2011, the hotel has 204 well-equipped rooms as well as 4 restaurants and 3 bars offering gourmet food and imported drinks. The air-conditioned club resort welcomes its guests in a lobby with 24-hour reception, currency exchange facilities and lift access to the upper floors. Further facilities include a children's playground, kids' club and a cafe. Each of the well-equipped guest rooms features an en suite bathroom and a private terrace or balcony. Further room amenities include an LCD cable TV, a minibar and Internet access for a comfortable and relaxing holiday.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
The staff was friendly and we enjoyed our stay at the resort. Our butler and the other staff members were attentive to our needs. The property has access to the beach which was perfect. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.
The service and amenities were excellent. The staff are so nice and attentive We have been members for 9 years and love this resort however the food has gone downhill. Many items on the buffets were dried out and flavorless. The evening meals were bland and with the same menu every night in one restaurant. Also the AC in the rooms do not really keep it cool enough so recommend bringing a fan. The hotel is also starting to show its age.
Sunset Royal beach resort If I could give 0 stars, I would!! Folks, don't even think about staying at this hotel or in Sunset Marina, They only want you in sunset royal if you sign up for a membership; they reel you, sweet-talk you, but it’s all a scam! They offer "welcome packages"—like a tour that it costs more than $2,400 they say it’s a day in a yacht but then after sign they just give you a tour in a Xel-ha which is a park which also only cost lest than $100 per day per adult, "$300" dollars massage discount—but those prices doesn’t even exist in the US; a top-notch, 5-star massage (done by hand, of course) in the States doesn't cost $100 an hour. Meanwhile, the "massage" they offer—with that "$300 discount"—is actually just in a massage chair! , They also offer a "vitamin" facial, but all you get is a basic facial cleansing. If you let your guard down and agree to become a "member," they move you from the hotel where you were staying (and had already paid for in full) to the Sunset Royal. The rooms there are in bad shape: our window was broken and wouldn't lock, the A/C was incredibly noisy, and the building's exterior had exposed rebar. The food—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—wasn't very good. Regarding the contract (which you might sign if they convince you): you have to pay a "down payment," and the interest rate is sky-high—over 10%. They charged us $8,000 for the down payment. They insist so much and rave about the supposed benefits (which, as I said, are a total scam) that you end up signing. Buuuut, even though you have a 5-day window to change your mind and cancel, they drag out the process. In the end, they refuse to cancel it, citing various excuses, and insist on charging you for the stay—even though it wasn't actually free, since you’d already paid at the other hotel in the same chain. You end up paying double. ...accommodation, food and drinks, and "supposed services you used"—which turn out to be nothing like what they described at the start. They charge you for all of that, and in the end, they claim you breached the contract and that they owe you nothing; basically, they keep the money you paid for the so-called membership (we paid $8,000—others pay more, or maybe $6,000, but certainly not less than that). They keep that money and the cost of your stay at that hotel, yet they don't refund what you had already paid for the other hotel. They also sell you a so-called massage (which, I repeat, is just a chair massage) and a facial at an exorbitantly high price—rates you wouldn't even find in the USA for those kinds of services. In short: DO NOT accept this, and DO NOT sign "membership" contracts, because it is a total scam. The hotel isn't even in good condition!

We enjoyed very much our 7 days stay at Sunset Royal. Our Butlers Edgar Celio, Rafael attended to our needs and wishes and provided extra mile for my son's birthday and our milestone wedding anniversary. Kudos to the server/waiters Roberto, Alberto, Guadalupe, Jose, Daniel ,Alan, Carlos for their exceptional work and genuine service. We appreciate the kind gesture of our concierge David , Ivan and Yasir who had always been assisting with any question and request. Our camarista Matilde who make sure we have clean room and fresh towels every single day. Best of all, Laura our massage therapist who was very professional. We will definitely go back because of the experience in terms of dining , exceptional service by all these staff.
