Royal Sands Resort

Review by Cuddles1978 Ottawa, Canada

This resort is beautiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is great! Covid precautions were very good...

There is a market right in the resort as well as a spa and gift shop. Would really recommend this resort to stay at.

Amazing views and guacamole

Thanks to Willie for making us so much fresh guacamole! The resort was big, people playing music on the beach. The views of the ocean were crystal blue and amazing. Highly recommend staying in a beachfront unit.

Thanks to all the staff for being part of our memories!

Review by 313sethg Annville, Pennsylvania

Excellent stay at this all inclusive. The rooms were cleaner than I even expected. Everyone there was really on their game...

My wife and I were so impressed with the front end staff and could tell the back end staff were on point as well. I cant stress enough how friendly and helpful everyone was. There was one night we could tell there were some short staffing issues and it was hard to get a bite to eat but room service came through in the clutch. Amazing pool and activities. We would come back just for the great people. My wife and I had one of the most amazing memories at the El Conquistador restaurant.

Great staff and ambience

I loved our stay at the hotel. I felt completely secured.

Staff: Super friendly, make sure you tip them beforehand and just relax, they are amazing.

Beach: For the period we went (end of April), there was a lot of seaweed at the beach/water. But of course, it is beyond anyone's control...

It is clean and private, it also has tables, chairs, and a sun lounger, Garbage in each kiosk, reusable cups all over the hotel. Tourist police regularly pass by the beach. The staff get you drinks/food, it may take longer than expected, but they are working under the sun and 34 degrees celsius. Bring a thermos bottle so your drink doesn't heat up too quickly.

Patrons: It consists mainly of 80%+ seniors (60yrs+), 10% kids, 10% the rest lol. It is a calm hotel, not a party hotel. Things are done by 10/11pm.

Amenities: It is not worth taking shampoo, conditioner, soap, or liquids in general from home, it is provided and good enough. I would recommend taking a great sunscreen for your face and body, you will definitely need it. Or buy the sunscreen at the local Market, located inside the hotel for 330 pesos. This Market has everything you need: sunscreen, food, cigarettes, souvenirs, etc, prices in pesos or US dollars. Beach towels available, make sure you return it, otherwise you will be charged.

All you can eat/drink: I do believe it is a great option if you eat and drink a lot. However, the drinks are super sweet and not too much alcohol. Get the beverage in the local Market (or at OXXO), so you can choose better liquor brands. Food was great everywhere we went to (kiosks, restaurants, other Royal restaurants). I'd like to point out that the Lobster night, at the Captain's Cove, is not included.

You can get to the Royal Cancun, Royal Islander with a free shuttle from the Royal Sands and enjoy the day there. Although I do not recommend staying at it, Royal Sands is much better.

Shuttle: GET THE SHUTTLE FROM THE HOTEL, it will be . Lots of scammers at the airport and even if you buy beforehand, they will charge an extra to go to the hotel at the time you want, otherwirse you will have to wait over 1 hour waiting for the "van to be full".

Lack of Entertainment

The facility is beautiful but there is no longer any night life or entertainment which was very disappointing. In addition, if you are not a member be expecting to eat at 5pm or 9:30pm as it was almost impossible to make a reservation at any decent hour.
