Our room the AC is broken, mold throughout, no beach towels as they ran out, and restaurants only open 3 days/week with first come first serve staring at 10 AM. Our second room occupied by a family member has no hand towels, no working AC, toilet leaks and leaves big puddles and sink also leaks. Asked for a different room but they say that isn't possible..

This is a very good value all inclusive resort. The food is delicious and the staff are all very attentive and good fun. We had something different every day thanks to chef Carlos for keeping it interesting. Magdiel kept our glasses topped up while we were at the beach and too relaxed to go to the bar ourselves. The entertainment is outstanding throughout the day and at night with different shows on every evening.
I enjoyed the Allegro Playacar. i'm not here to pass judgement on it, i just want to clarify a few things to the people who are thinking about booking this place.
The resort says they have 4 restaurants. That's simply not true...
They have 2 restaurants (1 being the buffet), and the other is another restaurant that rotates theme nights. Because of this, you can't just book the Mexican restaurant because the other ones are full. It's more like "Tuesday is Mexican night at the restaurant"
If that's a deal breaker for you, then you should be aware of it. For me, I was okay with that because Playa del Carmen is a 15minute walk away so we went into the city and had dinner there 3 times. I always prefer restaurants to resort food anyway.
lots of people complaining about TVs - maybe there's a TV shortage. My room had one but we never turned it on once, we are on vacation. It's a non-issue for us.
Our room was 3715 which we were a bit nervous about as it's beside the kid zone but we didn't see it being used. Our unit was near the back and because of that it felt incredibly private and shaded with trees so it was never warm in there.
Where to start?! Arrived at hotel around 8:00 on Sat. Nov 6 We have had this trip booked for 5 months. We paid for the superior king bed room...
No, none available…said we could change rooms on Monday. The rooms they gave us had no tvs and no working air conditioning. Gave us our new room number. So we had to check out Monday morning and recheck in at 3. Go to the desk. Nope. That room wasn’t available. Had to find another room. The first 5 days of being there there was no hot water and one of of those days no water at all. Inquired numerous times about this. Their answer…I will let maintenance know or it’s out of our control. Also no toilet seats in the washrooms on the resort. And only a few working toilets for the whole 3 weeks we were there. This was brought up almost daily to front desk as well as speaking directly to managers. One of our group had no a/c. Another one had no working fridge. Supposed to have coffee pots in room. Nope. Went a week without beach towels. Never had any or only a few. For 2 days we had none. In the buffet if a dish ran out it was very seldom refilled. There was never any bread or butter packs. Tomatoes nope, some mornings no patoto of any kind. They ran out of regular tea for 4 days. The beach pool lunch restaurant ran out of beer for a day. Now how does a resort in Mexico run out of beer!I get they have suffered from Covid but these are things that are not Covid related. This was our 3rd time at this resort so we knew what it was like before. They call the self a 4 star ⭐️ it’s a 2 star ⭐️ At best! Very very disappointing and the managers just didn’t care.
My boyfriend and I travelled almost 20 hours from London to get to Allegro Playcar. We had to change room instantly due to the noise from the entertainment stage a few meters away. If you’re suffering from a bit of jet lag you can’t sleep because of the ridiculously loud music...
Our first room had no hot water and the main light & fan didn’t work. The shower door didn’t shut properly so there was water all over the floor all the time. Don’t expect to be having breakfast on the beach ! There is one dark canten like buffet meters away from the beach where you have to have breakfast and dinner. The hotel claim to have various bars / restaurants. There aren’t. There are two buffet / bars and that’s it. When you sit around the pool the entertainment staff play very loud reggaeton all day. If that’s not your vibe then you have no choice but to listen to it. Don’t give these people your clothes to be cleaned. I sent an expensive trench coat to be dry cleaned with the promise that it would be returned by 5pm the next day. The jacket was never returned. I had to visit reception 5 times during the last few hours of my holiday when I should have been relaxing. The staff at the reception do try to help however some members are simply incompetent with a low level of English . I wouldn’t suggest staying at allegro playacar if you can’t speak Spanish. My transfer is collecting us for the airport in 2 hours and I still haven’t been given my £90 jacket.
