This beachfront eco-chic bohemian hotel places its guests just meters away from the sandy strip and is the perfect place for a sun-soaked vacation in heart of Playa del Carmen since 1985. Its guests can reach the center of the resort, the restaurants, bars, pubs, shopping outlets and the tourist sites on La Quinta Avenida within a 05-minute walk. The concept of the venue is to provide the perfect conditions for relaxing and romance, so there are no TVs, but we offers phones and wiffi. There are large comfortable beds and private terraces with hammocks, where one can spend the warm afternoons with a good book in hand and a chilled cocktail by his side. If some extra pampering is needed the onsite spa center can provide a number of treatments and massages, which will surely nourish both the body and the mind. WiFi access is provided in the lobby, each guest's room and the conference place. The property is part of Top 20 Travel & Leisure 2021-2022 and Condenast Travel 2021-2022. LGBT+ friendly and Small dogs/cats allowed on request with extra charge. Excellent place for groups and weddings. We remind you that Resort and Environment Fee's are going to be charged daily at arrival; The Service Fee per person night is applicable to All Inclusive plan only check in payment. Christmas and NYE Fee payable at check in.

All Inclusive Fees not Transparent
Pricing is not upfront with the All Inclusive rate. The rate on their website is supposed to include the Resort Fee (according to their terms and conditions) but they said that was not correct 🤷♀️ They also charge a nightly service fee on AI package to cover gratuities; however staff will ignore you if you don’t tip on top of this fee.
Unforgettable stay—and a special shoutout to Enrique!
We had a wonderful family getaway and truly enjoyed our time at the resort. We opted for the all-inclusive package, and while we originally thought we would venture out more, the food and atmosphere were so good that we ended up dining on-site far more than planned.
The highlight of the dining experience—and honestly, one of the highlights of our entire vacation—was Enrique. He is easily one of the friendliest, most genuinely attentive people we have ever met. He went out of his way to make every meal feel special, bringing so much warmth and positive energy to our table. Even my son said that Enrique was easily in the "top 3 best things" about the entire trip! That kind of hospitality is rare and made a lasting impression on our family.
Beyond the fantastic service at the restaurants, we spent plenty of relaxing hours by the pool, which was great for the whole family. Another standout experience was the cacao ceremony; it was beautifully done and felt like a truly special, memorable activity to be part of.
Thank you to the entire team, and especially Enrique, for making our family trip so memorable. We would gladly return!
Bad restaurant service
Alejandro best Entertainer he was super nice and sooo Kind but i was unsatisfied with the Restaurants because the olas was closed for a whole week and the cocina was closed the only open place was fuego. This is a scam!! I paid for more
Amazing for Young Families
Amazing resort for young families. Highly recommend the Kid Club! The space is brand new and both Valeria and Rebecca were amazing, with piñata and picture frame activities amongst other new toys. The resort is in the middle of all the local amenity with restaurants and shopping a short walk away. Food on site is also great! The rooms were clean and well presented with a single bed provided for our little one.
A wonderful tropical escape at the Mahekal
We loved our stay at the Mahekal! Our palopa, located in lush, tropical greenery and filles with the sound of birdsong had us feeling like we were waking up in the jungle. The room was clean, the beds very comfortable and the airconditioning a lifesaver during days of high temperatures and humidity! Numerous pools meant that they were never too crowded, staff were all friendly and attentive (speaking several languages) and the breakfast buffet well stocked throughout the service (7 -11 am) with sweet and savoury options, fruit and Mexican dishes. We especially appreciated the Kids Klub. With a variety of activities (dance, crafts, face painting...) taking place every day, our daughter literally begged to go! The space itself is clean, cool and secure (parents must wait at the locked door, kids signed in and out, etc.) and Valéria and her team are LOVELY. .. providing Mum and Dad an opportunity to enjoy a delicious cocktail, in the shade of the palm trees on the beach.
