Stay Far Away

Review by winters1968Winnipeg, Canada

Tukan is definately less than 1 star very low end hotel after "UPGRADING"TO ASPIRA which is also owned by tukan for an extra 175usd that hotel was possibly 1 star.Don't be fooled by their pictures online absolute dive.Paid our travel provider a large extra sum to upgrade and get out of there and worth every penny. Also went to retrieve some of the 175usd ,25 per night for upgrade to aspira, and was told to bad we don't do that.

Not a pleasant stay

Don’t check El Tukan Hotel!! In Playa del Carmen. Just thinking about it I get nauseated. Staff was friendly but.....

there is always a but. The entrance is covered on very slippery, uneven stones so don’t get surprised if you trip over as soon as you enter. The room we got at The Tukan hotel was beyond gross AAWWWHH! It smelled funky, like it hadn’t seen the light of day for ages. Stank really bad, someone at the front desk promised us to move us but it didn’t happen. NOISY!! Complete lack of privacy. Ok, let’s check out the pool In the morning. I was surprised there were no slippery frogs crawling out of it. Obviously there hasn’t been pool maintenance in a while. The best part of staying at El Tukan hotel was leaving this place.

A trip from hell

Everything that could have gone wrong, DID. I would not use air canada vacations again and would not recommend it to anyone. It was a cheap hotel, no water available ( there was a water fountain at the front desk but it was broken...

Cold pool and cold hot tub. Meals across the street and the quality of the foof was terrible. All inclusive was more THIS IS NOT INCLUDED. . Air conditionning in our room was broken, TV was not working, we had to walk 1 1/2 kilometer to access the beach, all the good food at the beach WAS NOT INCLUDED, all,the good drinks were NOT INCLUDED, Christmas dinner was away from the hotel and again what we wanted was NOT INCLUDED, no bar service at the pool, false advertising at rhe pool site. At the cafeteria NOBODY spoke english. I could go on and on because I have a list of 38 issues that air canada vacations will have to deal with, I complained to them but they are STALLING the process.

Totally ripped off by the Tukan

Review by Christoble0556Mississauga, Canada

When we checked in we found that the main restaurant, Los Tulipanes and the associated bar and lounge (the Living bar) was all torn down and the area boarded up taking away from the allure of the location. But that is not the biggest problem I encountered. I purchased an all inclusive package for one day and was quoted $51 US per day...

When I checked my credit card account a couple days later and did the math and exchanges, I found I was charged approximately $153 US per person for the day. When I inquired at the front desk I was basically told I was charged correctly and the person did not really want to bother looking into it further. I was basically ripped right off. I do not recommend anybody staying there.

Master of Disaster! El Tukan Hotel Beach Club

DON'T BOOK THIS HOTEL!!! DON'T PAID FOR THIS HOTEL PRIOR!! Room 429 smelled like mold, the toilet did not flush, the shower water did not come out when opening facet, property is invested with fleas, Manager was a coward, because he knew English and pretend like he didn't understand, that I wanted my money back. Manager just walked off and acted like I was not talking to him. I booked 4 nights online and failed to read the reviews because I was tried of looking for a good price...

If you want a clean charming, great price stay across the street at HM HOTEL PLAYA DEL CARMEN! Its only 80. per night.
