A great experience with chef M. Funny and entertaining! We loved our food and our children enjoyed trying new foods, Recommend a visit for all,
A very good show, with some very nice food.
Jose Luis Poot looked after us for breakfast and lunch everyday. Such a lovely waiter who try’s so hard to make your meal times perfect. Overall the hotel, facilities and food were good value for money, clean and worth a visit. And the wildlife makes it a very different experience from Europe However the service from people like Jose Luis Poot are what makes the holiday really special. Top guy
We have to give a special mention for Julio Cesar Chan Kumui who made the start to our day in The Park Restaurant very pleasant throughout our stay at Grand Sirenis.....he's such a happy, helpful and pleasant person. Thanks for your excellent service Julio!
We have just returned from a two-week family holiday at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya and, overall, we had a wonderful time. The resort is beautiful, with lush grounds, fantastic wildlife, lovely pools and a great atmosphere. There is always something going on, and the entertainment team work incredibly hard to ensure guests have a great time.
The biggest highlight of our stay was the staff. Roberto, our concierge, was outstanding. You would often hear him before you saw him, always greeting guests with a smile and full of energy. He was a fountain of knowledge and did everything he could to help us, especially when trying to secure restaurant reservations (although sadly we were unable to get reservations for all restaurants that we wanted). Marcial at The Park restaurant was always welcoming and attentive, Christian from the entertainment team made aqua aerobics one of the highlights of our holiday, and Cecilio Torres gave an excellent bike tour packed with interesting information about the resort and the local wildlife.
The food was very good overall, particularly in the à la carte restaurants we did manage to visit. Butchers was by far our favourite, with perfectly cooked steak and chicken. Unfortunately, we were disappointed that we couldn’t experience all of the restaurants during our stay. Securing reservations was extremely difficult, with very limited availability, especially for family-friendly dining times. Roberto managed to help us with several bookings, but we still weren’t able to try every restaurant, which was frustrating on a two-week holiday.
The communal areas of the resort were clean and very well maintained, but sadly we couldn’t say the same about our room. We stayed in Room 2227, and it was by far the biggest disappointment of the holiday. On arrival we found someone else’s fingernail clippings and dark hairs on the floor, despite all four of us being blonde. The room itself felt tired, with cracked tiles, damaged doors and an unmade, heavily stained sofa bed for the children after a long day of travelling. As a married couple, we were also surprised to find two double beds rather than a king-size bed. While housekeeping attended daily, the overall standard of cleanliness and condition of the room fell well below the standard of the rest of the resort. This was genuinely the only reason we wouldn’t choose to return.
We also wanted to mention the beach. During our stay there was a significant amount of sargassum. This is, of course, completely outside the hotel’s control, and the staff worked tirelessly from early morning trying to clear it. Unfortunately, nature was winning the battle, but we felt the team deserved recognition for the huge effort they put in every day.
There were a few smaller areas that could be improved, such as increasing the number of shaded sunbeds, making restaurant reservations easier, improving breakfast consistency and adding clearer signage around the resort. However, none of these stopped us from having an enjoyable holiday.
Overall, we made some fantastic family memories and met some truly wonderful members of staff who are a real credit to the Grand Sirenis. If the rooms were refurbished and housekeeping standards improved, we would happily consider returning. Until then, the accommodation is the one factor that would prevent us from booking again, which is a real shame because the rest of the resort has so much to offer.
Thank you to everyone who helped make our holiday so memorable.
