- Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya

Bordered by a private white sand beach and lush tropical landscapes, this decadent luxury resort pulls out all the stops for an unreal holiday for families and couples alike. The resort is situated near Playa del Carmen on the Mayan Riviera, less than 50 kilometres from the pre-Colombian Mayan ruins of Tulum. Visitors will have many opportunities to explore the area with excursions to Tulum and Chichen-Itza archaeological sites, and can swim with dolphins or even tour the Hard Rock sister hotel in Cancun. Each room offers generous proportions, a hydro spa bathtub, private balcony, and a range of state-of-the-art amenities, all decorated with vibrant colours and textures. Guests will delight in the private beach, children's pool and family pool, and the resort also offers a sophisticated and opulent adults-only hotel with four pools, nine imaginative restaurants and six lavish bars exclusively for adults.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I didn't know you could borrow a Fender while you're here. I arrived at night, but I left my contact information. Estrella got in touch with me, and the next day I stopped by to pick it up. She had such great energy and style. Thanks, Estrella, for the guitar!
Our stay at the HardRock was amazing! We celebrated a wedding with family and friends and the staff at HardRock did not disappoint! Thank you to the concierge team, travel/booking for excursions team, the food trucks staff, & food/beverages staff. They took care of our needs and addressed all our inquiries. A special thank you and shout out to Brenda! For her support, friendly smile and professional touch to ensure we had a memorable stay at the HardRock!
Highly recommend this resort for individuals, couples and families! There's a variety of activities and food options to meet all your needs!
Ok, I’ll just say this place did grow on me throughout the stay. First impressions weren’t great, as in the power went out when we were checking in and the rooms are largely underwhelming. We had the double terrace rooms, which the terrace was nice although in the summer typically too hot to be up there anyways. I agree with many previous posts that rooms would benefit from an upgrade or at the very least new doors so the dang birds didn’t wake me up every morning:). My biggest grudge with this place is the mini bar in the room, or lack there of. All other all inclusive’s I’ve been to at least had a few bottles of liquor in the room. This place only had a few beers and soda and a few bags of chips. I’m not a big drinker but I like a bourbon before diner and had to make the 20 minute round trip to the bar for a drink before dinner. C’mon hard rock, you can do better than that. Also, maybe put a few more bar tenders and waiters out there at the pool, you guys had literally more people trying to peddle time shares and picture ops than waiters or bar tenders. I guarantee if you put a few more wait staff out there you’d probably get more people wanting a time share. Just my business perspective.
All that being said I took my family of four here, two kids eight and 10 and they had a great time. Lots of things for kids to do, which is largely why we chose this place…water park, laser tag, bowling, escape room, trampoline parks…etc. We were there for six days and kids certainly didn’t get bore. The restaurants were fantastic, went to almost all of them and never had a bad meal and of course the staff is always friendly and helpful.
Overall, it was a great stay minus the previously stated downsides. If you have a family with kids this is the spot for you.
Alejandro went above and beyond his job to ensure our stay was extraordinary. His hospitality was by far the best I have encountered at any resort.
I cannot say enough great things about this hotel! The location is beautiful, the atmosphere is bright and fun, and the rooms were very clean and spacious! We will be back very soon!
