This elegant boutique resort is located on the hillside of Bali's fashionable Nusa Dua area and offers its guests 29 charming pavilions. The complex overlooks the Indian Ocean and is a 10-minute walk from the secluded Geger beach, where guests can find unspoiled white sand and wonderful opportunities to sunbath and swim. Those guest who prefer a little more privacy can grab a book or a newspaper from the library located near the hotel lobby and lazy around the private swimming pool, with which each of the villas is equipped. For a total relaxation they can request a full-body or a special massage that will surely revitalize their bodies and increase their well-being.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
An Exceptional Stay at The Balé Nusa Dua
We had the most wonderful time at The Balé. We’ve travelled quite extensively, and although we certainly haven’t been everywhere, we thought the hotel was quite exceptional architecturally. Its design is genuinely unique and gives the whole place a very special feel.
However, what really eclipsed the beautiful surroundings was the service. The “Family Team”, as they call themselves, were extraordinary. On the one occasion we did have an issue — no stay is ever completely perfect — their response was immediate and the action taken was thoughtful and efficient. Their care and attention felt completely genuine, rather than simply being part of the service.
Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice, and we also really enjoyed the evening meals.
We visited Canna Beach Club, which is lovely, and the hotel’s transport and access make it very easy to enjoy. However, we actually preferred the local beach, around a 10-minute walk away. It had a wonderfully relaxed, local feel, with everyone — and quite a few dogs! — simply enjoying their holidays. The little beach bars served drinks and food at very reasonable prices and were perfect for lunch.
The Balé is definitely not a party resort. In fact, it is probably the calmest hotel we have ever stayed in, which for us was a huge part of its appeal.
A couple of points to note: the road outside the hotel is very busy with traffic and scooters, so if you are a light sleeper, we would recommend requesting a villa towards the back of the resort. There are more steps to climb, but it is noticeably quieter.
And definitely book the cookery course while you are there — it was an amazing experience and Chef Beny was fantastic.
We loved our stay and very much hope to return next year. We would also love to visit their sister resort in the national park.
A truly special hotel with exceptional service — highly recommended.
C&D from the UK Villa 18
It always feels like coming home when we arrive at The Balé. Staff are warm and kind and the hotel is always comfortable. We particularly admire the elegance of its design and use of materials like stone and local wood in a modernist architectural vocabulary (in an area where the ruling design is overdone Bali-Hai and a tad kitschy). The rooms are large and spacious--perhaps one more comfortable chair would be nice--and the outdoor shower delicious. And how great is the privacy and private pool? The owner tells us that the villas will be updated over the next year, which makes sense with this now-25 year old property. I also love reading and napping under the bale next to the pool . A great value and a great stay.
This was our first time staying at the Bale, sadly it was disappointing. Our villa was located extremely close to the road, there was traffic noise all night. We were offered ear plugs as a solution. We ordered breakfast in the villa, but unfortunately it took over 45 minutes to arrive. The facilities are beautiful, but with only having one main restaurant and a tapas bar the menu was limited.
Six nights at The Balé in Nusa Dua, and we’re already planning our return. This adults-only retreat is stunning - our villa had its own private pool, the grounds were immaculate, and there was a sense of peace that never seemed to break. The spa was another highlight, offering some of the best massages we’ve had anywhere, delivered by highly skilled therapists in a beautiful, tranquil setting.
But it was the people who truly made our stay. Imelda and Ade at reception were warm, attentive, and seemed to anticipate everything before we even asked. Victor, our driver, was safe, punctual, and full of excellent local suggestions, making getting around effortless.
With its exceptional accommodation, dining, spa, and service, The Balé also offers excellent value for money. Highly recommended. A special thank you all at Balé Nusa Dua for making our stay so memorable!
Our stay was exceptional in every way. This place is the definition of luxury hospitality. Everyone greets you with a smile no matter the day or time. Everyone seems eager to help or answer questions. Seriously Amazing food and drinks at both onsite restaurants, and room service is so prompt and attentive!
They accommodated my husband and I as we had a late flight the day of checkout. They allowed us to checkout but prepared beach bags for us to spend time at the nearby local beach across the street then reserved a shower room in their spa for us to use before providing transport to the airport. We also had a very early tour booked (4am) and they prepared breakfast for us to go that was waiting for us by 4am on the front desk. They go over and beyond and I cannot wait to return. While we were leaving, a guest was coming in who had obviously been there before and they greeted them saying “Welcome Home!” That’s the greeting we want to earn as we continue to visit! We can’t stop talking about this place! 10/10
