They have a new section of rooms that are more like a chain hotel but the older rooms and villas are far more charming. But you have to hunt around for electrical outlets.
I've stayed here many times and most recently splashed out for a beautiful villa. It was super excellent, so relaxing...
it was kind of an inner sanctuary inside the sanctuary. Hardly ever left the villa - couldn't have been happier. Really worth it and I'm already planning my next trip.
Ubud is too successful for its own good with too many tourists and cars. It's very noisy and hectic in Ubud downtown even in early December (slow season). Upon entering this resort however, one can feel the tranquility and leisure pace of life...
We were warmly greeted by the receptionist and enjoyed a welcome drink at check-in while seated comfortably. The garden and grounds are beautiful with different buildings spread out over a vast area. We stayed in the newest building in a superior queen room. The room was very clean and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. One minor issue in our room- there's a gap on the side of the balcony door and that could allow insects to enter. It was still dry season when we stayed so it wasn't a problem for us.
Downtown Ubud is a 25 min walk away and there is free shuttle service offered by Arma resort to and from downtown Ubud several time a day. There are restaurants and supermarket near the resort and Jaens spa is only a few minute walk away. The stay includes free museum entry next door and I highly recommend a visit. Breakfast was also included but the a la carte breakfast was quite average.
The garden and buildings are very nice even some things might need a little refresh... nevertheless the service in the cafe is super slow and even being nearly the only customer and only ordering 3 things they managed to forget one... the staff definitely prefers to watch videos on their smartphones than paying attention to the customer.
We stayed two nights for our exploration of Ubud. On the plus side the location is outstanding. The grounds and gardens are superb...
We loved the artistic vibe and the Arma museum/gallery is by far the best in Ubud. The pool was lovely, the breakfast very good and the service excellent. On the downside, the room was a little spartan - little room to unpack - and most bizarre of all, it only had a bath with a ‘telephone’ shower that didn’t even reach high enough to stand under it. I called reception upon arrival to ask for a room with a shower to be told that they were all like this. Perhaps the villas in the grounds are more modern? But for us in the humidity and heat of Ubud where you want at least two showers a day this was a significant omission. The extras, such as drinks and the spa were overpriced but excellent alternatives are freely available in town so this wasn’t an issue. Overall though it deserves its 5 stars. It is an oasis of calmness and serenity. We would go back.
What an amazing place! The resort is incredibly beautiful. It has been designed so that everywhere you look, you find yourself thinking ‘Wow!’ The rooms are fabulous. The grounds are very well kept...
The restaurants are excellent. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. There are three art museums onsite. You can view traditional Balinese dances on-site several nights a week. You can take art classes on-site and watch artists at work as well. Such a wonderful experience to wander the grounds and find artists working- who are so happy to show and explain their work. Amazingly relaxing place-a true haven amidst the bustle of Ubud. I am so very happy to have found this wonderful place.
