Sankara Suites and Villas

Nestled away about 3km north of Ubud city centre lies this tranquil gem of a resort that offers incredible peace, care and relaxation. My wife and I stayed 5 nights here to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and we couldn’t be happier! As soon as we pulled up to the entrance it felt like we were entering paradise. The rooms are incredibly spacious with fantastic amenities. Out view is of the valley which gives you a sense that you are in the middle of a jungle as the river gives you natural sound of peace. Our room was always kept clean and organized as the attendants were very quick and provided turn down service twice a day. The pool area was incredibly relaxing with day beds and loungers to soak in the sun. The pool is a decent size too! We also had massages done at their spa. Possibly one of the best massages we have received. We loved the fact that the room was 3 walls as the opening utilized the natural sound of the river to create a relaxing environment for the treatment. One of our favourite parts of the stay was the breakfast! The restaurant served delicious food with a diverse menu that had us wanting to try something different every day! We always started off our day right just before we took the free shuttle into the city centre. As a whole, we were very impressed by The Sankara Suites and Villas. The value of the stay was second to none. We felt like we were staying in a $1000/night resort the way the resort treated us, how clean it was and how comfortable we were. It was such a great stay!

Excellent stay at the Sankara. Service was impeccable, environment is really good, it’s like living in a rainforest, fish ponds are a beautiful feature. Would definitely stay here again !!

Stayed with my family for 4 nights as stage 2 of our Asian adventure. We had a River Pool Villa, which was spacious, done out with varnished hard wood, and had a deck with loungers and a plunger pool. The hotel also has a pool and bar which is where we liked to spend time when not adventuring into and around Ubud. The hotel is about 10 minutes drive North of Ubud Palace, but the traffic around the centre of Ubud can add 15 mins. The hotel runs a shuttle bus on a timetable to get into Ubud centre, or to new picked up to return to the hotel - just call at reception to book in. If you want more flexibility, use the Grab app (Asia's equivalent of Uber). Rides vary in price, but were 50k - 80k IDR. Service is excellent - the staff are friendly and are genuinely interested in where you're from, what your plans are, and that you are having a great experience. The resort itself is beautiful. The grounds are very well maintained, and very photogenic! Cleanliness is paramount. If you have accessibility needs you may struggle, as there are steps and stepping stones to navigate before you get to the pool where there is a lift to the rooms and suites.
