Wonderful stay in this peaceful serene location. Pure relaxation and fantastic service. The staff we extremely attentive the WhatsApp service made any request instantaneous...
Even venturing out into Ubud for dinner and using the WhatsApp to get a car back to the hotel was effortless. They really do take care of your every need. The rice paddy trek is a must and excellent way to explore the surrounding area and get an insight into the lives of the locals. We particularly loved sitting facing the paddy fields with our evening cocktails whilst the sun sets. Wonderful place to spend a few days recharging the battery’s and the soul.
Stayed for 4 nights, Tanah Gajah has a very chilled vibe.
Can’t fault the staff, all very friendly, helpful and very competent. The WhatsApp group for all of the staff and us was particularly useful tool to get in contact, which always lead to a very prompt response.
The 6 pieces of free laundry was great, but meant I’d overpacked much more than usual!!
Enjoyed the free mini bar and happy hour!! Also, afternoon tea.
Great base to explore Ubud...
Was toying with reducing my review by one star, as the pool only had 8 Sun loungers, which was generally insufficient for the number of guests. Minor little niggle really, as this tended to lead to the dreaded early “towel reservation”
Every once in a while you visit a hotel that makes the hotel star rating from 1-5 not feel sufficient. If there was a case to be made for a sixth star, Tanah Gajah would be my example. The whole staff we unbelievable and hotel hotel premises so serene and well kept...
The suite was impeccable, the bed super comfortable and all the food superb. We actually changed our winter holiday plans to stay at the Tanah Gajah again. Even with high expectations, TG will blow you away.
The grounds at Tanah Gajah are beautiful; I couldn’t believe that this was someone’s home before. You can see the rice paddies and the farmers working while you’re having your meals from the restaurant which was so peaceful and stunning. There are also swans at the grounds and you can feed them if you like...
The staff are very friendly and service was wonderful. They created a WhatsApp group and my needs were met efficiently and smoothly. The food was also very good and the pool villa was comfortable, spacious and clean.
I was disappointed to see that the hotel’s main pools were very filthy. There was green mold all over the bottoms of the pools and the water was very cloudy. A few staff said that it was due to rain but surely they can upkeep the pool to a much higher standard like other 5 star resorts. I wanted to do laps and I didn’t feel safe going in the water. The gym equipment was also run down and as I was using the weights they were chipping away and bits were falling on me. A Bluetooth speaker should be put in the gym so guests can play their music, or upgrade the gym so there are nice speakers playing music. The tea set should include sweet and savory items instead of all sweet dessert type offerings.
One evening the hotel had a large group who booked out the restaurant and the guests were pushed aside to dine in another area. If this is the case they need to inform guests ahead of time when they make the booking so they know what to expect and can plan ahead. I also couldn’t have my picnic lunch because they had another group booked in so I had to do a picnic tea instead.
The massages were alright and the masseuses can be much stronger. I requested for firm pressure but it really wasn’t that firm.
The manager Pasek was lovely and personally took me around the rice paddies and the village for a tour. Overall I had a good experience here but I may not have wanted to stay longer than 3 nights.
A beautiful resort set among rice paddies with the sweetest staff.
Super pool villas filled with art.
Delicious food and an excellent spa.
I will never forget my 4 days at TG and it even rained one day: didn’t matter!
A must visit.
