Prana Resort Nandana

⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5) We are extremely disappointed with our stay at Prana Resort. I have updated this review following a response from Prana Resort (see photos), and I would like to emphasise the following: we raised our complaints directly with the manager during our stay. However, no appropriate solution was offered—only a downgrade to a less suitable room. Read our full experience below.

During our stay, we found a cockroach in our room, despite paying approximately €250 per night for what is advertised as a 4-star resort. We were travelling with our 5-month-old baby, which made this particularly concerning due to hygiene when preparing baby formula and bottles.

When we reported this, the manager initially tried to convince us that it was not a cockroach and even suggested that, as Europeans, we might not know how to identify one correctly. Only after I showed her a photo did she and a colleague acknowledge that it was indeed a cockroach.

We were also asked whether we had left the balcony door or windows open, which we had not. The staff also seemed surprised that we had baby formula in the room, even though this is obviously necessary when travelling with a 5-month-old baby. Our hygiene concerns were clearly not taken seriously.

At first, we were told that no alternative rooms were available. Later, the manager admitted that there were connecting rooms that met the requirements of our booking, but these were being reserved for future guests. Instead, the only option offered to us was a downgrade without a connecting door and with a significantly worse view. It felt as though future guests were being prioritised over guests who were already dealing with a serious problem.

The room doors also have large gaps underneath them, making it easy for insects to enter. The hotel later acknowledged that this was a problem and said that these gaps would be sealed for future guests.

The only compensation offered was complimentary drinks at check-out. While we appreciated the gesture, we did not feel that this was proportionate to the seriousness of the situation. Our request for a (partial) refund was simply refused.

The service at breakfast was also disappointing. Although the restaurant was half empty, we had to argue before we were allowed to sit together as a family with our baby’s bassinet.

There are also very few sun loungers around the pool, leaving hardly any space to relax. After all the stress and inconvenience, there was essentially no opportunity to unwind or truly enjoy our stay.

For us, this was absolutely not the experience you should expect from a 4-star resort. It felt much more like a 2- or 3-star hotel. A truly terrible experience and not worth the money. If you value hygiene, good service and a relaxing stay—especially when travelling with young children—we cannot recommend this resort.

Wonderful experience from moment of arrival to leaving for the airport. Very friendly staff who want to give you the best holiday!
