Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
This was a pleasant surprise as we only stayed one night before our flight home. The beautiful room had glass on two sides and a stunning view over the bay. Big and comfortable and the staff were very helpful. It has a steep driveway but the reception staff will happily shuttle you to your room. excellent value for money
Overall property is new, spacious, clean and stylish. The view from the pool is amazing, as well the pool itself. The room has a big comfortable bed, AC, TV and good bathroom. It’s great to have also a small terrace to enjoy outdoor coffee. Staff is nice, kind and polite, but not yet very qualified in some questions.
I’m sharing this on behalf of a close friend regarding his experience at Chaweng Bay View Resort in Koh Samui, managed by the owner known as Smith.
My friend paid THB 50,000 upfront for a one-month stay in a private accommodation, based on assurances and trust that the room would be suitable for living and work.
What he actually got was a small, mouldy room, with air-conditioning that did not function properly, electrical issues, and conditions that were nowhere near what you would reasonably expect for that price in Koh Samui or even the remote standard it was portrayed to have.
To be clear - he wasn’t demanding, or unreasonable. He repeatedly raised the issues, clearly stating what he expected for THB 50,000: a working air-con, a clean room, and basic comfort. These are not luxury demands. They are bare minimum.
Repairs were promised, delayed, half-done, or passed around through miscommunication. Despite his efforts to streamline communication and work with one point of contact, the situation dragged on without resolution.
Then came the part that crossed every line.
While my friend was temporarily out of the country, and before the agreed lease period had ended, his personal belongings were removed from the room without his consent or prior notice.
No call. No warning. No discussion.
His belongings were handed to a third party, even though he had paid for the full period and had not surrendered possession.
Imagine paying THB 50,000, trusting someone’s word, leaving briefly, and returning to find that your space has been entered and your belongings removed as if your agreement meant nothing.
This wasn’t a misunderstanding. It was a unilateral decision that left him distressed, displaced, and scrambling to understand what had just happened.
This isn’t about the façade that’s put up in front of guests, or how welcoming a place appears on the surface. That part is easy to curate.
What matters is how people are treated when something goes wrong, when repairs are needed, when expectations aren’t met, or when a guest isn’t physically present to advocate for themselves.
What happened here is disappointing because it’s not unique to one place or one country. This could happen anywhere in the world when there is a lack of accountability, clear agreements, and respect for basic boundaries.
Hospitality isn’t about smiles, views, or promises made at check-in. It’s about what you do when no one is watching, when a guest is vulnerable, and when trust would be easier to honour than to abuse.
THB 50,000 should never buy mould, displacement, and silence. It should buy basic decency.

I recently stayed at this resort, and unfortunately, it was a very unsettling experience. While the location has potential, the management style of Director Smith made me feel extremely uncomfortable as a guest. During my stay, I witnessed a very toxic and unprofessional environment. Seeing how the management treats people and their public conduct regarding personal privacy was a massive red flag. As a traveler, I value staying at places that maintain ethical standards and professional integrity, but I did not find that here. The atmosphere felt tense and unprofessional, which completely ruined the relaxing vibe I expected. For my own peace of mind and ethical reasons, I would not choose to return here. I strongly suggest others to consider the management's reputation before booking.
Stayed there 4 nights Breakfast was very simple and not much choices. Our room was not cleaned the last day and the coffee and minibar was not restocked during the entire stay.
