"This resort is located on Laem Set, Koh Samui, a renowned Thai tropical island. The resort lies on a remarkable hilly slope and beachfront area with stunning panoramic ocean views over the Gulf of Thailand. The bus station is 20 minutes from the resort and bars and nightspots are 30 minutes away by car. Samui International Airport is only 45 minutes from the establishment. With a total of 18 suites, this resort is an enchanting tropical gem set among picturesque cascading pools and scented by beautifully landscaped gardens. It features a specially designed hydrotherapy spa pool, in addition to an extra-large hillside and seaside swimming pool. For an additional fee, guests may enjoy a workout at the gym or pay a relaxing visit to the sauna. Alternatively, they may enjoy ‘Shasa' spa treatments and water sports facilities. For an island retreat of exceptional beauty, stay at this resort."
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
My partner and I were so incredibly disappointed by this “resort”. The amenities are extremely minimal with many that were advertised on-site unavailable during our March 2025 stay. Our room was worn down with carpets unraveling, exposed drywall and cracks on the walls, rock hard beds and small televisions. The single on-site restaurant had inconsistent hours and the one time we ordered room service it arrived lukewarm. The beach is small and unusable because of all the rocks and trash.
I truly don’t know how this place is allowed to call themselves a 5-star resort, but it nowhere near met our expectations. The only way I can see this place being a good option for travelers is if you are seeking a large space over comfort, amenities or convenience — and even then there are so many other lovely options on Samui that would be better than here.
We expressed our disappointment to management to give them the chance to refund us so we could go elsewhere and they couldn’t have cared less. I’m leaving this honest review of our experience in hopes it finds other unassuming travelers who are considering this place so they have the information they deserve to make an informed decision before booking.
I booked this location from booking.com. It was advertised as a 5 star resort with amenities such as a hot tub in each room, a private beach, clean and modern, with all types of amenities.
None of the above are true. The rooms are in fact a nice size, but aside from that it is more of a 3 star air bnb rather than a 5 star resort.
The private beach is unusable. You can step on the sand but upon check in we were told not to swim due to the amount of rocks in the water and to only swim in the pool.
The hot tub in each room advertised does not exist, atleast in our room. It was a giant bathtub, no jets, and would have taken hours to fill. We would have used it as a tub but the sprayer leaked all over the floor whenever you wanted to fill it up, so you had to clean the bathroom and when water did get in there it was visibly dirty with particles floating in the water.
Want hot water? Good luck. We initially could not get hot water. Upon telling the staff they came and we were able to get hot water but it frequently switched from hot to lukewarm warm.
The restaurant is lackluster at best and is the only food option available. We ordered room service from there the first night and it was cold and not very good.
Want to workout? The fitness center is nothing more than a treadmill and bike with 6 sets of dumbbells, and a cable machine only allowing presses and lat pull downs.
Clean and modern? No. The room while a nice size was dated and dinged and when WE FOUND SIGNS OF MOLD IN OUR ROOM that was it. We left after 2 nights and opted for another hotel which is actually a resort style stay.
Want a good nights sleep? Good luck there too. The mattress is so firm it feel like they just pulled a rock from the beach you can’t use and put it in your room.
Even after all of this the staff still refused to reimburse the remained of our stay, just the nights we didn’t use, I didn’t even ask them to reimburse the 2 nights we stayed. They declined. So I called booking.com and all they could do is call the staff and ask the same thing and they still declined. Despite losing a lot of money it was still worth paying for another hotel.
Highly do not recommend unless you are looking for an uncomfortable hotel lacking amenities near absolutely nothing.
Shasa Hotel has a great beach, pools, and comfortable rooms, but the staff is unhelpful and often rude. Our request for packed breakfast was poorly handled, with insufficient quantity and bad taste. Some of our group members were denied breakfast unless they paid extra. Room water bottles were only 200ml, and even a simple taxi call was charged 50 Baht. While the property is good, the service is not tourist-friendly and feels overly commercial.

We stayed two weeks and I wish we could have stayed longer. Super clean, gorgeous location, 24/7 front desk service, and the staff were absolutely amazing. Everyone greeted us with smiles for the entire stay and were so kind and thoughtful. Aster was fantastic and such a joy to chat with. We really appreciated all her tips and suggestions. The food at the hotel restaurant was delicious too. This was the highlight of my year and I will really miss this place and the team. Thank you so much!
