La Mer Samui Resort

The resort is very pretty and clean and the rooms are well maintained and comfortable. The bed was very hard which we did not enjoy. It does not have a beach front but you need only walk through a neighbouring resort to get to the beach, which was very nice. The pool was inviting, and the gardens relaxing.

The restaurant only serves breakfast and only the American breakfast on the menu was available (even the Thai breakfast was not served). The kids enjoyed getting hot chocolate every morning.

We have two small children and they could not accommodate the four of us in one room so one slept with us and the other in their grandparents room (we were travelling as a group). They setup stretcher style beds for the kids.

The free wifi was quite difficult to connect too, guests often playing a signal hunting game in the gardens, and you were better off going to reception where the signal was strong, however the overall speed was quite slow.

I would suggest this as a comfortable base of operations to tour the island, but a beach-front hotel would be my preference.

The staff at the resort are very friendly and accommodating. We arrived late in the evening however they were waiting for our arrival before they closed reception. The room was very basic - no phone, no safe, hard bed and a small toilet/shower wet room. However it was kept clean and I cannot fault the housekeeping staff. The wifi was awful, I was often searching for somewhere I could connect and once connected it would drop out. The pool was inviting and kept clean on a daily basis and the bungalows themselves were situated in a stunning location. You could see right up the mountains and it was a 2 minute walk to the beach. Overall an average stay!
