Resort is seriously outdated, even the few renovated rooms they have are very underwhelming. Cheap materials and finishes used for renovations. Our last day they had a 10 man crew of chainsaws cutting down trees all day, it scared everyone away from enjoying the outdoor space. I would never return here nor recommend anyone stay here.
Our stay at Dusit Thani was excellent. The staff were amazing, efficient, and extremely knowledgeable. Kikki, who coordinated our day tour, went out of her way to make sure everything went as planned. The driver the hotel recommended took excellent care of us. The only semi negative comment is that the rooms need updating, but we would stay there again in a heartbeat!
It was just a one night stay but we created several beautiful memories. The room was cozy with all the comforts we needed including the bath tub with bath salts that made it relaxing for us to dip into after our massage. The view of the lagoon from our room was pleasing to the eyes. We had lunch at the cafe and the local Thai dishes were well-made. The breakfast had plenty of options for every taste. We were able to use the swimming pool and the beach the next day thanks to the staff being kind enough to hold our luggage after check out. The beach itself provides access to chilled coconut water and a great body massage after long travel.
Booked this hotel last minute. Expectations were low because of a bad experience at another hotel we had to leave early. I couldn’t have been more wrong. It’s in a perfect location. The beach is amazing. Clean and soft sand you can walk without any hassle. The water is beautiful. The hotel itself is equally as beautiful. And the staff are wonderful. Breakfast has an excellent choice and unlike the usual buffet experience it actually tastes really good. Because of its location, if you want to eat lunch and dinner off the resort you need a cab to take you into town. Otherwise the onsite restaurants are really good. Food prices are on the high side but huge portions. The only downside is drinks are very expensive (around £12 for a JD and coke) It’s a cashless resort so you settle your bill on check out. We had an ocean view room and it was worth every penny. The balcony is very small but room for 2 chairs and a table so fine to sit out on at night. The shower takes forever to change temperate and the water pressure is very weak. There was always plenty of sunbeds around the pool and the beach so no problems finding somewhere to sit. Mosquitos are really bad here but to be expected when there’s multiple lakes surrounding the hotel. An amazing stay I was sad to leave.
Horrible experience. To begin with, we had spent 4 nights at Marriott Merlin, Phuket before moving to Dusit Thani, Phuket and the difference in quality is heaven and hell!
While Marriott was hospitable, rooms well maintaned - Dusit Thani was a horrible experience. Rooms outdated, not even sure how this can be termed as a 5 star resort; even the bed sheets and towels were so worn out that made the it look like the resort was on a major cost cutting spree. The hotel staff were nowhere comparable to the staff at Marriott. Not friendly, we weren’t even offered a welcome drink (read water) during our check-in. Furthermore, for any housekeeping needs, be sure to wait for hour after multiple calls to get them addressed! Unfortunately, we still have one more day of stay at this 5 star (read 3 star) resort. If possible, avoid this property at all costs.
