Fantastic time at the Slate. The staff are so friendly and helpful. They gave us a short tour of the hotel grounds when checking in (using their buggy), explained everything clearly and had our tour booking all ready. Our room was great, comfy beds and quiet. The decor was very cool, everything was unique. The smells throughout the hotel were lovely. Breakfast was fantastic, very fresh and continually replaced throughout the morning. Nice healthy salad options, nice fresh seafood, egg stations, yoghurts and milks and the usual western style breakfast. Great cakes too! The adults only pool with pool bar was great, very relaxing. The beach was nice and quiet. The staff gave us a late checkout until 2pm which was very helpful as we had a later flight. The app and chat functionality was also very useful.
Amazing, hotel excellent, restaurants good - Tin Mine was the family favourite. Local shops etc good too. Hotel and facilities were well maintained, the pool was amazing. Our room was really nice, huge shower and pool was nice and refreshing. All of the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the activities - special shout-out to Need who took us on the amazing Waterfall trek and the pool zorbing. Moo's cooking course was fun - market was interesting! Missing the hotel already. Adam, Zara and Eliza.
Great location. Close to the airport and beach. Interesting Steam Punk theme through out the resort. Resort is huge and easily to get lost and this is not a bad thing. Many things to do with direct beach access. Great for families and couples with adult pool.
Very nice and relaxing hotel with always smiling personnel. Rooms are clean and large. Sporting facilities available on grounds. Several possibilities to enjoy great cousin. Close to a nice beach with everything one would want.
Loved, loved, loved this hotel and would love to come back. It had everything we needed and was just so convenient.
It was a ten minute drive from the airport. Reception and check in, efficient and friendly, with a cold towel and a welcome drink. We were asked to download the hotel app, which made room requests and reservations very easy (pillow menu, extra mosquito coils, shuttle bus etc) all of which arrived promptly. The room was immaculate when we checked in and kept so with the daily cleaning. We appreciated the little touches like a mosquito coil lit in the outside seating area and an oil burner in the bathroom, as well as a top up of bottled water in the room. The pools were great. Something for everyone. Two adults only pools, one with a swim up bar and a quieter one, with seating around the edge, perfect to read a book. The service at the pool was fabulous, regular top up of free iced water, a cold towel and fresh fruit skewers arrived everyday. Thank you so much to the staff for looking after us. The best bit, there was always a sunbed when we needed one. No matter what time of day we got to the pool as the hotel have a ‘no reservation on sun bed’ policy which was upheld. Plenty of pool towels available and big soft fluffy towels. The guy looking after the pool, clearly took pride in his work, it was immaculately kept. We’d booked a private pool room, but the pool was too cold to use, so I wouldn’t bother with the pool room next time (not sure if they’re all like this or it was just because our pool didn’t get any sun).
Breakfast had all the food you wanted and more. Friendly, efficient staff and turnover of food was fast, so no food left to go cold. Eggs are cooked to order by the most efficient chefs. The fresh fruit went quickly but was topped up frequently. I’m still thinking about how good the mango tastes. The beach is close, with a wide variety of food and price options. Food trucks, bars and restaurants and we didn’t have a bad meal. Most restaurants had a happy hour, perfect to watch the sunset, with tables set out on the sandy beach. Plenty of places to get a massage, amazing coffee shops (one which had 7 different types of nut milk) and two reasonably sized supermarkets. It was nice not having to get a taxi anywhere to get a very decent meal.
The design of the hotel was very different to any hotel we’ve stayed in when visiting Thailand and the attention to detail with the decor was outstanding. We noticed little touches every where we went, from the doors and sinks in rooms, down to the detail on the cutlery used in the restaurants.
The Black Ginger restaurant was an amazing experience but the food was cold, so a little disappointed. We didn’t eat in the other restaurant.
We booked for a birthday and were given a lovely fruit basket, champagne and birthday cake when we arrived.
Overall, fabulous holiday and would thoroughly recommend.
