Melia Danang Beach Resort

Lovely place so much potential but sadly lets itself down. We were in The Level and the room was perfect as was the breakfast and afternoon tea. However, round the private pool there was simply not enough loungers - only 10 loungers for more than 60 rooms - plenty of space for at least another 10/15 loungers which would at least have given a few more people the opportunity to have somewhere to sit down. We went to the Level reception and asked for more and were told they couldn’t do anything. Also used the qr code that said raise any issues and they would do anything they could to make the stay better - this was however also ignored! I’m not normally one to publicly complain but tried both in person and on the private qr code but been ignored.

Pros - The resort is right on the beach, beach is clean with soft sand (a big plus). They have an excellent kids club with great loving staff. Many pools and kids pools attached to the big pool. Big spacious rooms for families. Large breakfast spread with an excellent bakery! The book library at the beach is an excellent touch too!

Cons - very few beach beds and pool chairs, by 8am all are taken! A resort of this size surely needs to increase the quantity of beds! Some of the staff is racist and pretend to not understand English in particular the pool attendant at the infinity pool. Restaurants can have a better menu. The rooms are big but very sparsely furnished. A big rooms for a family needs a bit more furniture. A cabinet, small table etc. Also make sure you mention you need an extra bed much in advance before you arrive. They won’t have any to offer on the day!!! This hotel really needs to figure their lack of bed situation - beach, pool and room!

Beautiful hotel, we stayed in the levels rooms and these were amazing. The grounds and pools are stunning, and we were lucky to have a room close to the beach and the infinity pool and it was amazing. Unfortunately, despite the fantastic setting, the hotel let itself down on several fronts. On our first night we had to wait to get a table for dinner, which is understandable as we hadn't booked, so we thought we would wait by the pool bar and order drinks until the table was available. On walking to the pool bar we were advised that they were overloaded and we couldn't get a drink! Our package included one hour of free drinks per day, again, unfortunately the service at the pool bar was horrific, slow and disorganised. By the time I got our first drinks I wasn't able to be served again!! I waited 45 minutes for a banana smoothie one day! We had two days in a row where after our room had been cleaned we had to contact housekeeping as fresh towels had not been provided. The housekeeping was inconsistent, some days we would get our cups washed, others we didn't, some days we had coffee topped up, other days we didn't. We didn't know what to expect on any given day. Breakfast was great, and whilst staff try hard and are lovely, the language barrier can be difficult to work through. We found topping up of dishes was slow during afternoon tea as well. Afternoon tea is between 2 and 4pm, and again the level of detail is lacking. The cool drink container is not re filled with ice, so if you are there after 3 the drinks are already warm as they are sitting in water! By far the worst point for us though was the volume of guests allowed to smoke in public places. On occasions you couldn't walk to reception without walking through a cloud of smoke. A designated smoking area is just outside the entrance to SASA restaurant, just what you feel like when leaving after breakfast. Guests are allowed to smoke pretty much anywhere and it sours the experience Overall the hotel could be great, but is let down by inconsistencies and a lack of attention to detail
