Athenia Boutique Hotel and Spa

Stayed for 6 nights. Reception staff Trinh and Phoung are a credit to the hotel. So friendly and smiley every time they saw us, helped with booking trips, advice on where to eat, things to do and where to stay on our next journey around Vietnam. Nice buffet breakfast, Sau was also very helpful and chatty every morning. Only a 5-10 minute walk to the beach, free bikes available but a taxi ride away from Hoi An old town (cheap enough though)

Lovely staff, big bedroom and king size bed. Pool and bar were lovely. Staff very attentive. Good variety for breakfast. They like to chat so it’s encouraged. Hired bikes and ride around the beautiful rice paddies. 5 min walk to beach. Would recommend.

I booked this place for six night. Upon arrival I was disappointed to see that it was nothing more than a soulless hotel. Absolutely zero atmosphere. The reception area feels like a Drs waiting room.

They claim on booking DC that they have a restaurant. There is no such thing. They simply provide you in your room with a pizza and pasta Menu. This is made off site and delivered to your room! The selection is abysmal.

Negatives ; There is no restaurant despite what the hotel claims Also no bar Breakfast is served only until 10am They won’t serve it in the room Hotel room furnitre is very dated Public areas of the hotel are very dated Surrounding hotel is ugly scrubland littered with rubbish Staff don’t speak English My door didn’t lock from the inside Location is 15 mins from the night market and river , too far to walk. Nothing whatsoever in the location of hotel , no shops, cafes, restaurants nothing. If you want to eat you have to get in a taxi and travel fifteen minutes to anything of interest. Or subject yourself to their pathetic pizza menu in the room. One evening I was struggling to get a taxi back and forced to get a bike in the rain back to the hotel . AC is a unit on the wall so if you want to change the controls in the night you must get up. There is no remote provided No soundproofing so in the morning you can hear all the maids shouting and moving things up and down the corridors Most times there is no staff at the reception desk at all.

Positives Bath was great Bed comfortable WiFi works well Pool area is nice.

Upon vacating they claimed that a laundry bag was missing. I had a meeting to attend and yet they kept holding me up insisting that I look in the room, or somehow find the elusive laundry bag. In the end I offered to pay the 200 dong for the bag so that I wouldn’t be late for my meeting.

I ended up booking into the odyssey which has a bar, a proper restaurant , is a ten minute walk to the old town, much more modern rooms, nice pool area, also with bathtub. And at the same price!
