The resort offers a choice of four secluded beaches, making this an ideal choice for sun lovers to escape the crowds and completely switch off and unwind. The island of Antigua is known for its laid back charm, and you'll find the atmosphere at the Hawksbill is completely in keeping.
The hotel itself presents a welcoming array of traditional Antiguan style bungalows dotting the shoreline. Garden bungalows are twin or double an offer attractive garden views. All have en suite facilities and feature a safe, ceiling fan and mini fridge. Superior sea view rooms and bungalows are available at a supplement.
The Hawksbill offers a perfect mix of amenities to offer guests the chance to unwind as well as some choices for leisure and amusement. I will start with the couple of negatives but then make way for a whole list of positives! -the evening entertainment was mediocre; there were only 2 nights out of 10 where we were impressed with the quality of the acts. -the last day and a half, service really went down hill and I don’t know why; 2 hours from sitting down to getting our burgers/nachos/salad at Seagrapes at lunchtime (2 guys seemed to be running the open kitchen whilst other members of staff propped up the window as professional leaners 😂), breakfast items weren’t being replaced when empty, no offer of tea/coffee with breakfast. Not sure if all their good members of staff all just went on holiday at once!
Now for all the good bits! Prior to the last 36 hours, service had been utterly amazing. You were never sat with an empty water glass or dirty plate infront of you for longer than a couple of minutes. Regular queries of whether they can get you a drink from the bar and they always seemed to remember who had ordered which drink despite taking many orders. I asked for a proper duvet, as I can’t sleep with a sheet, and it appeared on my bed within an hour or so. Staff were super friendly, efficient and generally fantastic.
The complimentary use of the kayaks, paddle boards and snorkels (there are plenty of bright, colourful fish to see without leaving the resort) was brilliant as it meant you had plenty to do, without adding extra costs to the holiday. The beaches are beautiful; white sands and crystal clear water that you just wouldn’t get in England. Also, plenty of sun loungers for everyone. This also applied to the infinity pool; a wonderful view, nicely maintained pool with a good sized lounging area.
We stayed in the sea view rooms and they were lovely; simple but had everything you needed, including excellent air con. The house keeping staff were in daily and did really thorough jobs of keeping everything clean, tidy and sand free. We were literally stumbling distance from the sea and pretty much everything else. To be fair, whatever accommodation you stay in, you are only a couple of minutes stroll to one of the lovely beaches.
Food was good; I didn’t think much of the buffet lunch option, but that was fine as you could book at PD’s grill or Sea Grapes and order from their à la carte menu, which we did most days. Evening buffet was good and choices rotated every day but we really enjoyed the dinners we had at Seagrapes the most. Whilst not costing extra, if being under all inclusive and sticking to the ‘free’ options on the menu, it felt like a really special experience as there is limited capacity and it’s all just done a bit fancy and the food was excellent.
Excursions are put on to St John’s (didn’t enjoy this but we’re not massive shopping people) and Shirley Heights (amazing-a must do if visiting Antigua) and they can also organise taxis etc for you.
A highlight for my teenagers were the animals that were around the resort; the adorable kittens that chill with you in the evenings, the friendly ducks, the dinosaur-like pelicans, mongeese, lizards and all the fish.
Overall, we were so impressed with this resort and would not hesitate to return here if we come back to Antigua. Thanks for having us!
Hawksbill Resort is an amazing place to stay, relax and have fun. The setting is spectacular and the service perfect. It is paradise!
We stayed at Hawksbill from 19th July – 2nd August, returning for our second consecutive year. We never usually go back to the same resort twice, but Hawksbill truly stole our hearts last year — it’s the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted at reception with a glass of Prosecco and a warm “welcome home,” which instantly made us feel relaxed and appreciated. Our Garden View Bungalow (76) had a stunning sea view. It was gorgeous waking up, opening the curtains and patio doors, and seeing the ocean right from bed. The bungalow itself was a little dated but spotlessly clean, with a huge, comfortable queen‑size bed and excellent air conditioning. We actually preferred this room to the one next door we had last year (74), which had two smaller double beds and felt a bit cramped. Our friends stayed in Garden View Bungalow 69, which has been newly renovated. Their room was slightly smaller but beautifully updated, with a lovely side porch and a great sea view — they absolutely loved it. During our first couple of days we relaxed by the infinity pool, but there was a slight smell in that area so we decided to spend the rest of our holiday on the gorgeous Seagrapes Beach. It was perfect — just a few steps from our bungalow, and so easy to nip back to the toilet or grab cold drinks from our fridge. It became our favourite spot for the whole stay. We visited Eden Beach twice to see the pigs and the adorable piglets — such a fun little highlight of the trip. There’s a small drinks hut there where you can grab water, soft drinks and a really good rum punch. The only niggle we had was the bit of rubbish left around the bin by the hut, which did spoil the area slightly, but it didn’t take away from how lovely the beach itself was. We had lunch at PD’s Grill once during our stay and were really impressed — it has hugely improved since last year. We loved sitting there enjoying the view over Hawksbill Bay and Hawksbill Rock, which is absolutely stunning. A lovely new addition this year is Seagrapes Bar staying open until 7pm. We really enjoyed sitting there with a glass of Prosecco, watching the amazing sunsets — it became one of our favourite parts of the day. Another great change is Seagrapes Restaurant now opening in the evenings as a sit‑down, waitress‑service menu is quite limited and many items come with an additional fee, but what we ordered without extra charge was delicious, and the service was brilliant. restaurant. It’s a wonderful addition. Egbert makes the best eggs benedict — we had ours with smoked salmon and a glass of buzz fizz, and it was the perfect start to each day. Overall, all the food was amazing. The only let‑down was BBQ night. We’d been raving about it to our friends because last year it was a proper outdoor BBQ with grills set up outside. This year the BBQ was inside at the cooking station We had the majority of our meals in the Tamarind Tree. The entertainment at Hawksbill is very good — we really enjoyed the fireman show, the bands and the singers. Evening entertainment runs from 8pm–10pm, but we personally feel it would work better from 9pm–11pm, as many guests (including us) are still having dinner at 8pm. It can be difficult to chat over a meal or join in with the entertainment, especially when the bands and DJ are encouraging people get up and dance. The only downside was DJ Fenton. He tended to stop tracks abruptly, and when people finally got up to dance he would suddenly switch to something completely random, which cleared the floor more than once. It was a shame, as the atmosphere was great otherwise. Gerald took us out on the Hobie Cat, which was great fun. Another really great addition this year is the golf cart service for guests with mobility issues — we hitched a ride a couple of times and it was great fun as well as really helpful. I know I’ve mentioned a few staff by name, but truly everyone who works at Hawksbill is friendly, smiling, polite, and goes above and beyond — from the groundsmen and housekeeping to the bar staff, restaurant team and reception. We had an amazing two‑week holiday and genuinely did not want to leave; I actually cried in the taxi on the way back to the airport. Would we return to Hawksbill in a few years? In a heartbeat.
Excellent experience and beautiful beach and pool. Amit (Food and Beverage Manager) was the perfect host. We loved our stay.
Very quiet resort. When I booked it was adults-only, but there are children here. Only 2 bars. Got super busy on Wednesday as the other restaurant is closed during dinner time. The buffet didn’t have enough tables so we had to wait 20 minutes. And then they ran out of plates so we had to wait for that. I finished my dinner and then my coke came lol. Takes a very long time. Sea grapes restaurant, we had a reservation at 8pm and we only got seated at 8:30 and food took a very long time to come. Not a lot of food options for dinner at buffet if you are vegan.
Definitely bring a water bottle. They have 2 water stations to fill up your water. They do not give you plastic water bottles. In the middle of the night I was so thirsty and I refused to drink tap water.
Bedroom and bathroom is very nice! Staff is very nice and friendly! Beaches on resort were very clean and beautiful!
