Barbados, Caribbean
Christ Church

The complex is situated directly opposite the famous Rockley Beach, on the South coast. The town centre of Bridgetown is about 5 km away, and Grantley Adams airport is about 13 km away. Situated around the hotel in St. Lawrence Gap, guests can find various restaurants and nightclubs. Shopping facilities, banks, laundrettes and flower shops can be reached easily on foot.

Both the bold architecture and the strong colours provide a welcoming atmosphere. The hotel comprises 70 rooms of different categories, and features a lobby, a hotel safe, a mini supermarket, a bar, a restaurant and conference facilities. In addition to this, guests may use the laundry service (charges apply), and there is a parking for those arriving by car.

All rooms are fitted with colourful furniture and come with a bathroom/ shower with a hairdryer, individually adjustable air conditioning, a direct dial telephone, a coffee machine, an iron and ironing set, satellite TV, a mini-fridge, a radio and a safe. All rooms also come with a terrace with either a sea or beach view.

The outdoor complex features a pool with a poolside snack bar as well as sun loungers and parasols laid out ready for use. There is a varied entertainment programme to keep guests amused and entertained. The lively Rockley Beach is famous for being a good site for diving, snorkelling, windsurfing, sailing and boating. The sea and its countless waves also offers the perfect place to go boogie-boarding. In the hotel's surroundings, guests can also go horse riding, play tennis and golf for a special price.

The restaurant, which is situated in the courtyard, has a friendly atmosphere and offers a selection of specialities as well as a unique combination of Creole and local dishes. The bar is the ideal location to enjoy an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink.

GREAT HOTEL IN QUIET LOCATION

Stayed for 14 nights Half Board at the Blue Horizon Hotel, Rhodes and was most impressed with the interior, food and Staff at this delightful hotel. When we arrived it was dark and the front exterior of hotel was poorly lit and our first impressions were not very favourably. However, when entering the Reception area, we noted that it was bright, clean and a very efficient young Receptionist greeted us. After leaving our luggage in our Room 258, we went for an Evening Meal in the Hotel Restaurant and found a good selection of hot and cold meals available. Throughout our stay the selection of hot and cold food available at Breakfast and Evening Meals was exceptional -catering for all tastes. All areas both inside and outside of the hotel were very clean and I must say the two ladies, Alketa and Adriana reponsible for cleaning our Room 258, carried out their duties exceedingly well and they are a credit to the Blue Horizon. The only small irritating problems I found with this Hotel was the Bathrooms would require modernisation and the sunbeds at the Pool were slightly too low for the more Senior Citizens. All in all I would have no hesitation in recommending the Blue Horizon to friends and family.

Fantastic Break!

This hotel truly was absolutely lovely. From the start to the end we were well-informed and all of the staff treated us respectfully. At the beginning, the gentleman on the reception desk informed us of the complimentary beach towels, where the restaurant and bars were and how to get to our room. All was clear. The day after this was repeated by a lady at the reception desk to ensure we understood fully.

The staff in the restaurant were all very lovely and ensured we had a table to sit on every night. They made sure tables were cleaned promptly and drinks were delivered on time. The mini market lady was very lovely on the occasions we spoke to her and the bar staff were very polite and wished us well on our last day. The two cleaning ladies we had were very lovely and always said hello when we went past. They left our room superb.

The food was themed most nights - there was a couple of nights which we weren’t 100% on but we got to indulge in Chinese/Japanese, Italian, Mexican and of course Greek. All the food was delicious. Breakfast was mainly the same each morning with waffles/pancakes alternating. There was not much show cooking but we didn’t mind that as we were more interested in getting the food.

There was a lot of German hotel guests but there wasn’t any favouritism amongst staff with them. It was clear many of them had attended previously and thus, knew the staff better. It was nice to see this was a hotel you can come back to again and again.

The hotel is extremely clean and well presented. We were very happy with staying there and despite paying for the sea view only room, we did get a good view of the hills to the rear of the hotel also so an amazing view all round.

We didn’t go into the pool area much but it was beautiful from what we did see. Most of our time was spent on excursions or on the beach. Two Sun loungers and a parasol are 8€ and completely worth it. It is a pebble beach, however, and the sand can only be found further on in the water. We recommend getting some beach shoes from one of the local supermarkets.

Great location in terms of restaurants and shops nearby. Lots of places to hire cars/mopeds from also including one in the hotel itself. Restaurant wise we highly recommend Pezouli (short walk from hotel, Greek restaurant) and Royal The Yard of Taste (about 5-10 minutes walk away). There’s also a lovely shop called Animal Spirits near the latter restaurant which sells the most beautiful hand crafted candle holders that smell indulgent.

There are planes which fly over regularly due to the flight path however we did not find these annoying in the slightest, we instead made a game of guessing which airline was coming over. These are also few and far between during the late hours so they shouldn’t disturb your sleep much.

Similarly, the entertainment music was not too loud and we only really noticed it during the weekend which is to be expected.

Taxi’s to Rhodes City were only 18.50€ (we booked this one from the hotel directly) there and 15€ back. It was a pleasant journey and both taxi drivers were friendly.

Overall we felt very looked after and respected. This was a fantastic choice for a hotel and close by to local amenities. I would highly recommend others to this hotel.

Barking dog for hours.

the hotel is in a beautiful location, but you will be woken up every morning by the barking of probably a guard dog. the barking goes on for hours, and no one does anything about it. this happens every day and it gets really annoying.

Wonderful hotel

After a bad experience in another hotel, we were transferred to the Blue Horizon. From the moment we walked in we were treated so well. The staff were so friendly and worked really hard to make our stay. Lovely experience. The room was lovely and comfortable and kept very clean. The facilities were great and surroundings well cared for. Food and restaurant were top quality. We will be coming back. The staff should be commended.

Lovely week at Blue Horizon

Great Hotel! We've had a lovely week staying here on a half board basis. Breakfast was tasty & varied although sausages not to our taste! Lunch or Dinner was delicious with so much choice & always freshly cooked meat on the grill. The lamb chops were our favourite. We don't normally eat pudding but we couldn't resist ! Our waiter Vasilius ( William) was charming, welcoming, friendly & delivered a first class service. We were on the fourth floor in a superior room (423). It has recently been refurbished to a high standard with comfortable beds & a fantastic view of the beach, pool& stage which meant we could watch the entertainment from our balcony. The entertainment was varied. Local dancers were great, as were the live band & the fire show. The other nights not so good. Started quite late around 10pm. We spent a few evenings watching the football at a local bar or eating at one of the local restaurants. Kostas Village was great with live music & delicious food. We visited Rhodes old town which was beautiful & Kremasti to see the stunning church. The hotel is in a great location for sightseeing & not too far from the airport. Planes go over regularly but we quite enjoyed watching ! The pool area & gardens are very attractive & close to the pebbly beach. The hotel snack bar has great views of the sea & serves delicious gyros & lots of other snacks at reasonable prices. Overall we've had a lovely holiday & would return although we like to visit different Greek islands & there are so many to see! Thanks to all the staff at Hotel Blue Horizon!
