Good value, good location, fantastic staff, comfortable, pretty property.
I bring 240 people to Barbados every year for a bridge tournament. Half of the group stays at Sunbay and half across the street at another hotel. I do a survey every year. In February 2026, the survey was the best ever. The management and owners of the hotel, Mr. Felix Broome and Mrs. Gwen Broome and son, Adam Broome, are very responsive and very caring. the bedrooms are large and comfortable. The grounds are LOVELY. The pool is gorgeous. The staff...I can tell you that I have never heard such good reviews about staff in any hotel in the world. The guests LOVE all the staff at Sunbay. They try so hard and bend over backwards. The price is reasonable. Don't expect Four Seasons but do expect comfortable with great staff who care very much that you enjoy your stay. If something is not to your liking, just speak up quietly and they will get it fixed. A great team!

Very Quiet Location
Very quiet location, always plenty of sun beds pool area kept nice, lots of plants and greenery but unfortunately attracted lots of insects, pool wasn’t always clean, green round the edge by the time we left. If you want a hotel away from it all this is the one. Very quiet during the day however noisy in the evening with guests constantly coming and going. lot of people only staying a night so I can only guess used for transit. Breakfast was ok always found something to eat and you could have freshly cooked eggs. Fruit tended to be tinned. Staff on the whole tended to be miserable, except for the lovely Kim at the bar. We had upgraded to a deluxe room and it was not cheap, (Compared to other trips to Barbados) Room was very tired and not had a deep clean for a long time. I have visited Barbados 10 times now and I have to say if this had been my first experience I certainly wouldn’t rush back. Unfortunately we were surrounded by holiday makers very disappointed with their hotel experience. We arrived at 8pm and when asked if we could have a drink they directed us down the road to a bar which you had to get your own drinks from a fridge. There was no welcome drink or even a vending machine where you could get a bottle of water after travelling for many hours from the UK. The description does not advise you that the restaurant is not open for food after lunch and the bar shuts late afternoon. If you want somewhere to just put your head down and you have a car to get away from the hotel to visit the island then this would probably suit you. Rooms air conditioned and had a tv and nice balcony. Microwave, kettle and fridge but no cutlery or crockery. I have tried to be fair and point out the positives and the negatives.
Disappointing.
We are just back after a 10 day stay at the Sunbay Hotel. Our first impression of our room was disappointing to say the least. We were in room 113. After a long flight we arrived to our room. There was a fridge, microwave , kettle 2 plastic cups and a small spoon. No water tea coffee or milk. ( we did bring our own teabags).we were so upset to see our balcony view was overlooking a corrugated tin roof. The furniture looked like it came aff the ship of Cristopher Columbus after the rats got to it. The bathroom had a fixed shower and at 5 foot 2 I couldn't reach the soap and shower gel as it was almost on the ceiling. I didnt unpack our clothes as the wardrobe and drawers were sticky and dirty. Was this the best they could do for a ten day stay?? . We asked reception for the bar or restaurant we were told it closes everyday at 2.30. She gave us directions to the nearest shop which was 30 minutes away along a dark busy road There are no nice restaurants or bars in this area. There is one lovely one called Carolinas across the road but it only opens afternoons and weekends. You are very limited to what you can eat or drink after 2.30 every day. There is nothing to eat or drink anywhere. Breakfast was good but could be improved with more fresh fruit and Yogurts and also if they used decent cups and saucers and glassware instead of the grubby plastic cups and beakers. The restaurant staff were friendly. The swimming pool was good and quiet. Easy to get a sunbed and most days had the pool to ourselves although most days we went to other parts of the island and beaches. It wouldn't take much to have improved our stay. If they had included a proper tea tray in the room with milks and water and decent clean mugs plates glasses and cutlery that is not bent and maybe opened the restaurant for longer hours it would have made such a difference. I would not stay here again and I would not recommend this hotel and I regret not paying more for a better hotel.. You get what you pay for and I have learnt this lesson the hard way.
Sun Bay don’t book
We have been coming to Barbados for 30 years. The staff in this hotel were beyond awful. When we checked in the receptionist didn’t say hello make eye contact just asked our name and gave us a key. This theme carried on with each staff member the breakfast was disgusting. Instant coffee stale cereal unclean table. We checked out after two nights.

Change the management and most of the staff or just close down the hotel
Stayed for a week with my family.First impression is that every member of staff I met was not very happy and even rude.
Room was large, a bit run down and could do with a a makeover and a deep clean.
Breakfast was just ok but again why are the staff so miserable.
Both pools were okay, sun beds not very comfortable but plenty to go around.
Bar was okay when it was actually open.
Lovely beach just across the road through a few bushes .
Would not stay here again even at half the price, STAFF AND MORE IMPORTANTLY THE MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO GO and actually get a job they enjoy.
