Genuine Grenadian warmth & experience

Review by 777sirdon Greater London, United Kingdom

Coyaba is a family owned/run hotel so demonstrates genuine Grenadian culture and hospitality. It is located right on the middle of the world famous Grand Anse beach. There are rightly no private beaches in Grenada, however beach vendors are polite and not pushy...

The gated grounds have plentiful loungers, palm leaf umbrellas and palapas within the beautiful gardens. Our room was a ground floor king superior: ocean view, patio with furniture, with a lawn and a lounger. It was spacious and comfortable. It has all the expected amenities with essential a/c + a ceiling fan. Some may find the furnishings to be dated though imo if you want 5 star luxury it's clear you wouldn’t be paying these prices. The main Arawakabana restaurant caters for a mix of Grenadian, North American/European and international fare in buffet or al la carte according to the meal. The Carbet restaurant mainly caters for North American/European fare lunch. Regarding some negative reviews about the food that wasn’t our experience at all. There were always different daily soups for lunch and dinner with fish, chicken, and beef options also. The desserts were okay at best but to be fair this course is not big in many cultures in hot climates. All hotel staff just exuded politeness and warmth. The restaurant and bar staff particularly were first class. In particular I want to name: Reanne, Kamasha (the biggest smile), Evril and in the bar Nigel (Mr peanut punch!), Kieron and Wendell. I can’t wait to return.

You must visit Coyaba Beach

Review by PhilipandLorna Chelmsford, United Kingdom

Have just returned from a weeks holiday at this wonderful resort. The room was very well maintained by the maids, the grounds were exceptional and there was a wide range of food to choose from in the restaurant. The waitresses were always there to top up your glass but they spoke very softly and at times it was difficult to understand them...

There was not a dress code for the evening meal but most of the men wore a shirt with a collar and a decent pair of shorts or trousers. The staff were always on hand and very helpful. We did not go on any trips but I would recommend taking the number one bus to St George’s. There is vey little to do or see there but the bus ride was an experience never to be forgotten. I also went out on the catamaran for an hour which was most enjoyable. I would like to thank the staff for making this a holiday not to be forgotten and hopefully we will return next year.

Fantastic hotel highly recommend

Review by Holly L London, United Kingdom

Amazing experience at the coyaba hotel, the hotel has beautiful gardens, a private beach and lovely pool. The staff are so friendly and helpful and make great rum punch and a pina colada! The pancakes and nutmeg syrup were a highlight for breakfast. Rooms were spacious and clean...

You also get access to paddle boarding and wider activities too. It’s in a good area with the umbrella beach bar just next door. Would highly recommend, we also got engaged on the beach just outside and one of the staff filmed the moment for us which was perfect!

Loved it!

Review by Uglynet Maldon, United Kingdom

I simply do not understand the negative reviews on here. We booked Coyaba quite last minute as needed a week in the sun and we were really blown away.

No, it's not a high end luxury resort (thank god), and doesn't pretend to be. We found Coyaba to be homely and friendly with amazing, hard working staff, set on the most beautiful beach which is full of life at the weekends but never crowded. The food is good, a la carte as well as buffet...

There are a good variety of drinks although wine choice was limited and not to our taste. The rooms may be a little dated, but very comfortable and cleaned every day.

People should remember that Grenada is not a glitzy Caribbean island like some others. It is a warm, friendly, laid back island which will be like marmite for some. We loved it. My only reason for a 4 star review is the bar closes earlier than I would have liked and wine quality/choice could be better. Having said that, I'd go back in a heartbeat.

It's not a 4*

Review by AMP3000 Northampton, United Kingdom

Poor room quality, Ignored by staff, poor breakfast options; bars open and close at different times to book in room, only one restaurant open. Standards not good BUT this is so easy to fix...just a shame it hasn't.
