Paphos

Surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens, the Akti Beach Village Resort is located directly on the Mediterranean Sea. It is constructed in the typical white architecture of the area and features studios as well as 1- and 2-bedroom apartments. Attractions such the Tombs of the Kings, Coral Bay, the Panagia Winery, Paphos Castle, the Mosaic Museum and the centre of the historic city of Paphos are within easy reach. The village resort is an ideal place for couples and families with children who wish to spend their holidays under the Mediterranean sun.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Nice hotel gest the restaurant supervisor needs some manners

Review by gufy919 Cardiff, United Kingdom

I'm here at the moment, great location, good food, decent rooms, good service but my only concern is the lady in charge in dining area. I found her very unprofessional and intimidating. She came at my table while I was eating with my family and she asked my room number with out any explanation, when I asked her why she gest turn her back ant went straight to her computer, no sorry nothing, when I went to challenge her, she apologies, saying she didn't see my band...

I think she needs gest a bit of manners and costumer service training.

Lovely holiday at Akti Beach

Review by jemmima14 Cambridge, United Kingdom

Really hard to fault this place, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are clean and spacious. You have to dispose of toilet paper in a bin not the toilet but this is the same in all of Cyprus and most of Greece, it takes a bit of getting used to...

The food was very nice, we always found something to eat even with fussy children. I preferred the lunch buffet rather than dinner. Plenty of cocktails to choose from, I would recommend the Ouzo Special. There is a little beach close to the hotel, we did swim in the sea most days but I would recommend taking water shoes as it is quite rocky. Overall we have a lovely holiday and I would definitely return.

Lovely holiday

Stayed at this resort for a week. We had a lovely break. The rooms are a little dated but fine for getting some sleep and having a shower which is all it’s needed for...

Restaurant - food was lovely, plenty of choice, different theme each night, plenty of cold salads and 5 or 6 different hot dishes to choose from, always found something to eat. The bread and rolls at breakfast were lovely and fresh, bacon and sausage baguette for me each morning! The restaurant staff work hard to keep things topped up and are extremely quick to take your finished plate…. Bar - plenty of drink available on all inclusive, a number of cocktails, local beer which was very nice, wines and soft drinks. The bar staff work tirelessly, they offer table service too which was a nice touch. Couldn’t fault any of the staff, all very friendly and accommodating….. Room was cleaned every day of our stay with fresh towels…. Pool areas were clean and spacious whilst we were there but during summer I imagine it could be a fight for sunbeds. Pool was freezing but that’s to be expected in April, was nice to cool down in…. My only disappointment with the resort was the location, which is why it’s only 4 star for me, not much around the hotel, taxi or bus into town which is fine but nothing within walking distance really. Overall would definitely recommend this hotel.

Get your moneys worth

Review by Karenhonestreview Manchester, United Kingdom

More of a 3 star than a 4. Drinks were average but got you tipsy quick lol. Food was very much the same every day (note that there were practically no vegan options but lettuce leaves)...

Mask wearing and glove wearing in food areas was essential, the restaurant manager meggy was quite rude to a lot of customers about it even though it’s not that obvious if you aren’t told you have to wear masks and gloves. All inclusive drinks had large variety- available from 10am in the poolside bar to 11pm in the cocktail bar. Overall the place is clean and rooms were made everyday with beds being made up, bins changed and coffee station topped up- they don’t dust or hoover the room the whole time you’re there which got annoying as a person with long hair. The cocktail bar can be loud at night when you’re trying to sleep but you’d get that anywhere as people are on their holidays! Outside pool isn’t heated but it was a nice cool down after getting hot in the sun. I’d say this hotel is more of a family hotel with lots of kids and big families- but we did go in the Easter holidays so is to be expected. Shopping wise- there is an expensive mini market next to the hotel and a Lidl which took about 20 minutes to walk through using a short-cut. Had a lovely chilled week, but wouldn’t visit again. Thanks to all the restaurant staff who were realy smiley and happy to help!

Relaxing holiday - Fantastic staff

Review by Spanner27 Leeds

Myself and my 2 teenage daughters have just returned from a week here and although there were some snags, overall, we were very pleased with the hotel.

  • All staff from reception, bar, restaurant, entertainer and cleaners, worked incredibly hard and were very friendly. Infact I feel that they really 'made' our holiday. We especially enjoyed the daily games with Andre who was really good with both adults and the kids.

*Receptionist took us directly to our room on arrival, which was very much appreciated, as then you don't get lost (it was away from the main hotel).

  • Beautiful fantastic views! The immediate garden areas are very pretty but the sea and the miles of coastline you can see from the edge of the resort is stunning...

3k walk away long the coastal path is Venus beach which is a beautiful soft sandy beach. There is not a lot going on in the Immediate, area, it is very quiet- but that is one reason we chose the area as we wanted to stay on site and relax.

  • I really enjoyed the wine and the beer and didn't hear any other complaints from anyone whilst I was there. The cocktails were ok too - not as good as premium branded spirits, but go to a hotel that offers 'All inclusive plus' if that's important to you - or pay extra at the bar.

  • I thought the restaurant did an excellent job. Yes they are strict regarding face mask and gloves when you self serve from the buffet- but GOOD! Not just from a covid point of view, but general hygiene. Food was always nicely laid out, it was always warm, replenished (even towards the end of the meal times they continued to refill empty trays) restaurant clean and organised. I found the staff to be efficient and attentive without being intrusive - they always asked before taking away your plate. I especially enjoyed breakfasts - such variety. The oranges are literally the best I've had in my life!!

  • Bar staff were friendly and even approached tables in the lobby area outside of the bar to take orders for drinks from your table and serve you back at the table - I've never known this at all inclusive before.

  • Beds and pillows were comfortable and we slept well. Even though our room was not a refurbed or superior, it looked like the beds and mattresses were quite new? Room was basic, but large and adequate. Shower temperature and water pressure was good.

  • You can't put toilet paper down the toilet- but that's not down to this hotel - it's all of Cyprus! And the same in most Greek islands too. I personally take nappy sacks to put used toilet paper into, and tie them, before putting it into the bathroom bin. It's not very environmentally friendly, but is hygienic and means that the bin and bathroom don't smell. The maid empty the bins every day.

  • Rooms visited by maids everyday to make beds, empty bins, change towels (if you left them in the bath to indicate this request) and wash floors.

Here is one of my biggest problems: floor cleaning is terrible! Im quite sure they don't change the water in the bucket for each room. The dirt from the floor is often pushed into the corners of the room or just under the bed, leaving a build up of dirt in these areas. I was especially irritated when we arrived as the floor was very dirty! Behind doors, in the corners of the room, behind the toilet etc. it had just been given a quick once over. In addition, when we moved the beds to rearrange to our liking- under the bed and behind the small bedside tables were visibly filthy and had clearly not been cleaned for some time. Reception were very quick to send someone to clean the floor, but although the young lady was lovely - it was once again, a quick once over (not with fresh water- as I had already hand cleaned the bathroom floor and it was worse after she mopped it!). So I ended up hand cleaning the bathroom floor and bedroom floor myself as I can't abide a 'bitty' dirty floor.

The problem with the floor would usually mean I drop my TA score, but everything else was so on point, I felt the hotel still deserved 5 circles.

  • The sunbeds were not the best, but were just about ok.... I have a bad back and i managed, but understand why people take issue with them.

  • My other snag was that late room check out (after 12pm), was advertised as €10 per extra hour. I wanted to check out at 13.30, so expected to pay €15 / €20. However I was advised that it is a minimum charge of €30 - which I think is expensive for only an extra 1.5 hours in the room.
